@BethRoars Just received mine yesterday. Awesome album and what a great book/cover! Thank you for not only the signed album, but the nice little card all done in gold pen. I missed how to also download the digital copy. Sorry, my bad. Anyways, congrats on a great work.
This one of those legendary three piece bands. Also as they all are great artist, Stewart Copeland is incredible drummer and his drumming was like a swiss clock...
@@garyporter1707 I won't ever. I have loved Rush from my teens to this day and seen them live and they are the best group ... or were... ever. But the similarity is that you can make huge music with just three men... that is comnpletely bonkers... especially with Rush. Neil Peart was a maybe the drummer ever... Even his drum set was amazing and they weren just for eyes and numbers but also used them and all kinda a bit weird instruments at least in Rock music. What many people may not realize is that the pace in their music was often very fast. Those three guys were really busy with what they played... oh man...
We saw Sting at Thetford Forest Live last month. I was frankly amazed that as a 72 year old (!!!!) he was still singing as well as when I saw him at Twickenham in 2007. Incredible artist.
This nudged the old memory banks. I was 24 in '83 when this song came out and I can remember it being played everywhere, constantly. It was the song of the summer of '83 in my mind.
Desert Rose and Fields of Gold are both worth a listen especially the guest vocals in Desert Rose, and Don't Stand so Close to Me is about a student who crushes on their teacher.
I saw the Police live back in 1981 during the Ghost In The Machine tour. This song was on their next album but I didn't go see them that time. Didn't realize that Synchronicity would be their last album. Another fun thing about the concert I saw in '81 was that the warm up band was Joan Jett and the Blackhearts who had the number 1 hit right then, I Love Rock and Roll.
For years I watched people dedicate this to their loved ones with no clue what the song really was about. Another song that suffers from this is “Love Song” by Tesla. It’s a song about a breakup and reassuring the dumped person that they’ll find someone else someday.
1984 vibe galore! the way you explained it was even better than what I remembered it was... making it even more sinister! it fits perfectly today! then your video became even deeper! to me, music is, like we say in french: "la fontaine de jouvence!" or "the fountain of Youth!" thank you for another awesome vid!
The Police did several songs that sound cheerful, but have dark themes. Invisible Sun is about street violence. Every Little Thing She does is Magic is about never finding courage to confess love to someone. Wrapped Around your Finger is about revenge on a former boss or leader who was controlling. Still great music though, and amazing lyrics- often with literature references like mythology.
When The Police were touring behind their first album, their show at The Paradise in Boston was broadcast on the radio. Sting had laryngitis and his unique voice was even more fascinating. I taped in and wore that cassette out. It's available here on TH-cam.
Another song in which the tempo counters the meaning is The Rolling Stones "Paint It Black," which has an uptempo arrangement despite being a lyric about grieving for the death of a lover. For a song about watching someone that really is a love song, here's Cole Porter's "I've Got My Eyes on You," sung and danced by Fred Astaire in _Broadway Melody of 1940._ th-cam.com/video/M5oYQ-xSmYE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=C8D9RnUCftc7k4mO
I DO greatly enjoy listening to your reactions, and yes, your happy personality always puts me in a wonderful mirror neurons 'great mood', as well !!!!! 😅😂😂😂 13 different Pianists 😅😂😂😂 Sorry, I thought you said something very different at first !!! Caught me off guard and made me laugh !!!!!
They sold out in Vancouver BC during the Syncronicity tour. I was so ticked off. So you bet I bought tickets when they had the reunion tour. They are killer live. And a lot of time they do little changes to the songs to keep it interesting to the audience and the band interested.
I'll have to check if you have reacted to "And You and I" by Yes. That one is a love song, and is still one of my top favorites. The way I first understood this song was, it was a stalker watching the object of his fixation. Although, seeing it performed by The Breathless Choir did put a completely different spin on it. As in, you don't know if your loved one is going to have a next breath. @9:04 Imagine being able to tell your children and grandchildren that Sting was your school teacher. I think that would be awesome. For that matter, for those in the gaming community, I think it would be very interesting to say Zombie Cleo was my school teacher, as that was her profession before she went full time You Tube.
If I was in concert, I would sacrifice diction, as long as I could hit the notes. However, if I was doing it for radio or non visualizer, I would be concerned about diction, and I wouldn't want to sacrifice either.
I don't blame him for writing about big brother,I felt it's presence since I was a boy ,never liked it and still don't,it ruins l A free life on Earth ❤
The funny thing is that if you change the song from minor to major it weirdly sounds more sinister. Also Puff Daddy doesn't pay royalties for sampling this song. He was ordered by a court to take the song down and for each day he doesn't he has to pay Sting a couple of thousand dollars. He just thought it was worth it to keep the song up. Sting says he's put a couple of kids thru college just with that money
I've heard that dogs react more to tone than actual words. You could say the meanest things in the nicest tone and their tail would be wagging. I guess it kind of applies to humans. This isn't the only happy sounding song with much darker meaning behind it.
I actually felt off when I first heard this song and he sang "I'll be watching you", I thought well that doesn't sound like it would fit in a romantic song, it sounded a bit too sinister, and then I remembered 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' and I thought weeell maybe this isn't the romantic love song that it makes it sound like

Thank's for that ! 😊
The sweetest yet darkest tune , genius
The theme song for every stalker.

Didn't realize that Synchronicity would be their last album. Another fun thing about the concert I saw in '81 was that the warm up band was Joan Jett and the Blackhearts who had the number 1 hit right then, I Love Rock and Roll.
I credit this song for making me a better person. It made me realize that I should question my motivation for doing something as well as the action.
The bed's too big without you. Bring on the night. My favorites from them.

Thank you Beth. It's always fun to dance together with you 💃🕺🌹🌹🌹❤
The demo for the song was just released in YT. Andy and Stewarts' contribution to the song made it what it is.
This is frequently referred to as "the stalker song" by radio DJs in the US.
His vocals sound amazing here!
Your eyes and your smile are life.
Great song and underrated band 🎉
Underrated?
@@Steffe haha, indeed. The Police are exactly rated - not under- or over-. 😅

Also Stewart's brother Miles Copeland's label is IRS Records.
I thought it was A&M.
@@SmartJanitor Pretty sure it was A&M unless that's just North America.
@@SmartJanitor You are right! I was thinking of R.E.M. (or The Go-Go's). But his record label is IRS

2024. Still the most played song in history. Like Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, it’s immortal!
Great song.
Wow Beth... Why you gotta set the bar like that?! 😳🤯
Great reaction to a very great and iconic song. 😎🤘
Nice reaction. Subbed in on thus one.. Thank ya lass ☘️🇺🇲
Thanks for the sub
Musicianship - The Police!
Great Smile - Beth!
Great music video!!!
The police always had an amazing stage presence
One of a few with a billion youtube views. Song about a stalker. I only realized recenlty he was not saying "I'm a pool hall ace."
it is rumored to be the most played song ever on airwaves
The Police are the best three man band ever. And I'll die on that hill.

Dancing to this song is like laughing at the face of dangerous big brother
If you are fond of the eighties, I strongly recommend you "The Reflex" by Duran Duran.
Hungry Like The Wolf, too
❤❤
In the words of Stewart Copeland re: Sting: “That f*cker’s a genius.”
Gotta say they look and sound better than any other Eighties band I've seen that is still playing.
The sundays goodbye
The Metal Lounge sound of Faith No More and the song Edge of the World is just as creepy.
I've always paid attention to the lyrics, and yes, it sounds so sinister nowadays, so controlling and posessing...
Then he kissed me (intro adventures in baby sitting Elizabeth Shue 1987?).. The Crystals
Da Do Run Run… The Crystals

You should react to Chase Holfelder's minor key cover of this

Such an Iconic riff, it's funny how Puff Daddy/Diddy (or whatever) could think he could just steal it
And continues to pay for that mistake lol
@@wrldchamps04 Certainly does, $1M a year I think
This song must have had a somewhat different impact in the UK given the amount of public surveillance that is present there...
Notice a lot of people talking about this song again... probably to tie into the re-release of Synchronicity recently

Dogs know around 165 words so it’s depends what words you are using! :)
AKA the stalker song!
Melô do stalker. 🤭
I can't hear this song anymore without thinking of Jose Feliciano butchering it as Sting looked on uncomfortably. Now that was a vocal performance.
