Hunnit! Definitely a learning process especially being in toxic environments that conveys the negative behaviors. Addressing this is key to changing and realligning ourselves to being better humans and not just better dancers. Preach!

The ones who keep thinking krump is soft nowadays, will continue to complain about it. It happens all the time at the community I krump with but it has been accepted as a difference between the gens and theres nothing we can do to prove it otherwise through talk, only action made it clear.
The older gens just needed to see the newer gens progress in their krump to make them understand, that there is different ways to teach and learn krump, as it all depended on what the individual wanted. If we didnt speak up about what we (the new gen) wanted to learn, then the older gen wouldnt of given us the proper tests and respect at the classes and sessions we attended if we didnt prove it worked.
At the end of the day, we just had to prove our krump and characters werent soft, not accepting the challenges they put before us ultimately led them to think we werent up for it, but the individuals who took that step and challenged themselves were able to prove there krump was hard, which inspired a lot of others too take that step aswell.
Respect brother, Im a new gen in Sydney Australia, I was called soft now Im one of the hardest new gens in my scene because I took every challenge thrown at me. I emplore others in other scenes set the proper tests and challenges that the new gens need, because what we want is too prove ourselves and be accepted by you older cats, complaining will only drive us away, as we can always just learn from other people.

Reminiscing about how it was back in the day or wanting the old school back sounds to me like they're experiencing nostalgia. Nostalgia being a bittersweet feeling. Sweet because the memories are positive/familiar, bitter because it's unachievable to go back to those times. So instead they hold on to the memories, and the behaviors like you said. And anything that could change their mindset imposes danger to their fantasy, and they reject it. At the cost of the movement really. Sad

a lot of the roughness of krump is the reason why its so attractive to kids that've known violence their whole youth. it takes them off the streets cause they've seen another way to express themselves..... settling beef through sharpening skills on the dance floor rather than sharpening knives on the street. if you want to be peaceful with it more power to you, but dont expect everyone else to be when it comes to krump

coming from violence and bringing violence to a dance are two different things expression is the tool
It’s about changing the perspective of what we’re handing to the next generation
someone who comes from violence and enter the dance and gets more violence, does not solve anything
The rough violent side of krump has been promoted so long that it’s easy
