  • Schematic diagrams display the components, labels, and electrical connections of an electric circuit using standardized practices to ensure universal understanding by professionals and hobbyists. This video provides the basics of reading and understanding schematic diagrams. Knowing how to read schematics aids in the assembly or troubleshooting of circuits while being able to create a schematic is the first step in organizing a circuit and allows the designer to convey ideas in a clear and concise manner.

A very good explanatory video with a clear understanding of each and every component and its symbol, it was very easy to follow. Keep making videos similar to this, so we all can learn and make a better future in this electronics space. Thank you to Another Teaching Moment to bring in this video for our learning!

I love ur video it really makes the difference in my life not to have an idea or judgment rather a better understanding how electricity flows on the wire and how is connected .

I have been reading schematics since I was a kid and am largely self taught. I was seeing if there were any tidbits I might pick up. I did not realize about the inputs and outputs being on different sides of the IC, so thank you. One thing I’d like to see included that’s not obvious to a beginner is that all the ground symbols should be connected together.

It's been a long time since I've used schematics. Also I'm not familiar with IC chips. I predate all that. ( Tubes & Transistors )
Thanks, for the refresher, I will be going through your videos for more.

Do you know how I can learn? I took electronics in high school, was taught nothing, sent several projects up in smoke and was pushed through with a passing grade. Schematics look like an endless loop of interconnected lines leading nowhere and I'm yet to find a way to learn what they mean or how to translate them into reality.

Can I ask a question it's on my test the symbols on the schematic diagram are arranged so that the diagram can be read in this manner
    A.Top to bottom
    B. Bottom to top
    C. Right to left
    D. Left to right
My answer is D but I'm not sure
    Help pls

At 2:53 you say that the solid dots represent a connection of some sort. Can you show how each of these connections would be wired together? (Not on a breadboard or circuit board please since those just hide what's happening and confuse things)

I hate reading schematics that excessively use "connect-by-name". It feels like the person crafting the schematic ("crafting" as opposed to "generating") has been lazy and might as well have forced me to read the net-list. On the other hand, a strategically chosen "connect-by-name" list can significantly de-clutter a schematic. I'd love to see a paradigm in circuit-schematics that keeps the best of both words. @Shawn Hymel - any ideas? If anyone can give it clout to make such a paradigm stick around, surely Digi-Key can :)

The first example is incorrect. The resistor should be before the led on the negative side to resist.

A friendly suggestion, lose the music, it’s very annoying and takes away from any otherwise great video.
