Yes they do. But battlefront sponsors people in terrain, i.e. battlefield in a box. Our club gets payed like this by battlefront for playing FoW in stores. We have a MASSIVE amount of terrain, free for use for anyone in the club.

In 15:50´first art bombardment on the 88s, Jon states that both AT guns are under the template cos they mandatory have to be within 15cm command distance and the arty template is 15cm per side. It is not that obvious since you hace to rotate the template to point to the unit firing the bombardment, right? in certain circumstances it can reach more than 15cm (diagonally) and in some others, less. Am I correct?

This might not show it off the best as the US force did not include heavy artillery but 105mm class guns are great at removing entrenched infantry. Once you are ranged in and the Infantry is re-rolling saves their days are numbered.
Bit late to this, but I enjoyed watching. Can anyone explain the Russian 'RPG card' thing? Russians didn't have RPGs in WW2. Is this about units using captured panzerfausts?
The rule for Line of Sight Through Tall Terrain says, "Line of sight to a target Team is Blocked if it is more than 2"/5cm through Tall Terrain, unless the Range is 6"/15cm or less." So I think in both of the cases where I've heard John say, "Woods don't block line of sight," it's because the line of sight to the majority of the target only passed through an inch or so of woods. (But it sounded really strange, so I had to go and re-read the rule to figure out what he meant.)
yeah, sorry for the confusion. Usually what I'm referring to is when both the target and shooter are outside of a wood but have it between them. I can only see half your tank around the side of the wood.(Like a tank peeking out around a building) The Target doesn't get cover even though technically the shooting team sees only half of you, or less. This is different from buildings, where you would get the cover bonus.
Very entertaining BR as always guys. It just reinforced the reason I dropped the Soviets. Fragile, ineffective paper tigers with generally lower quality models. It's a thankless task collecting the faction, certainly if you play normally and not in tournaments and enjoy the modelling side alot

Would the 40 points the Soviets spent on armor been better spent on T-34(85)'s? I don't know if you could have bought 2 Hero T-34(85) x4 Companies for 36 points , but you could buy 1 Hero T-34(85) x4 Company for 18 points and a T-34(85) x5 Company for 22 points. Would that have been not enough armor, and easier for Jake to defeat? It seems like the T-70's and Valentines work best as a swarm. If one objective had the 4 AT guns and an infantry Battalion, and the other objective had an infantry battalion and the T-70's and Valentines kept together and moving as a swarm might have given Jake more of a problem. I ask these questions because I have zero experience using mainly Infantry forces.
I'm curious. From watching the game played, it seems in your turn you can move forward, and then shoot an enemy unit. From the perspective of a stationary defender, the enemy can approach you, frontally, and shoot before you can open fire. What is Flames of War trying to represent?
The "save" stat is supposed to represent the veterancy of the target, and a passed save represents a tabk crew that responded to and avoided the enemy shot
You only need to do last stand checks. Which happens when you only have 1 non-bailed tank left in a group or 1 gun team or 2 infantry teams. Then you keep doing them each turn until they die/run away or game ends.
Good batrep. In the ne dclose assault could two units have attacked one defending unit, and one the one offender get to shoot at both attackers, one at a time? I'm never sure about that.
In assault the attacker assaults with one unit at a time, so it's possible that the defender falls back out of range of the 2nd attacking unit before it can assault. However if it's still there the 2nd unit can assault and would also take defensive fire.
122 mm Howitzers have an AP of 3 and costs the same as The 76 mm Artillery of 8 pts. They would really help out against the Panthers with Top Armour 1.
Hey, long time Warhammer but have some friends that just got into this game. Any good online resources to read up on how armies play? I'd play the soviets as friends have USA s d Germans, but this battle was a bit disheartening 😁
Thanks! I think sadly there are always going to be blowouts in FOW, just like 40K, when it comes down to list building. I'd recommend talking with your friends and coming up with initial lists that would play well together. For example US Sherman co vs. Hero T-34/85. I haven't found any good online list building help except maybe posting in the FOW facebook page.

What cammo was used on those German halftracks? The foliage type.

Very true, Depending on the angle you can get a little more or little less.

Hero shock Rifle are Veteran Skill so when you tried to dig in, you actually passed.

The Soviet 120 mortars as well. It's still a tough prospect though. AP 3 means only a armor roll of 1 fails, not too reliable but better then nothing.

Using 5 plus mortars against his 88s will get to re roll misses.
rerolling saves only applied to infantry and guns not vehicles.
Also you can't hit teams in assault unless you are in contact with them.
