Every aspect of instrument construction in Africa [and other cultures] has an inherent Spiritual element, starting from the materials harvested from Nature to be used in the process of building an instrument. As I learned on my visit to Senegal, this philosophy extends to the playing of a finished instruments, a process in which it is felt that each person who touches the instrument leaves a part of his soul in it. Many of my instruments carry parts of the many souls which have blessed them with their divine touch.
I just clicked on a video of a kora player out of curiosity, and then I couldn’t stop watching. How beautiful it is to see this process of craftsmanship, step by step, and the sacred energy put into it. I honor these luthiers, instruments, and traditions. Thank you for creating and sharing the video. ❤
Beautiful to watch the kora being made. I play ngoni and study the history of our family, I do the photo albums. A western version of the Griot maybe ? 🎶🌞. All love to Senegal 💖
Such qn amazing instrument. I am really interested to get one and play in South Africa. Is there a way I can get one in Johannesburg. Please kindly guide
Europe stealing our culture by making our musical instuments including the kora. The kora is west African musicical instrument. To be precise its origin is from the Gambia.
