Cayucos, California walk about. Cayucos California began to evolve during the Spanish Land Grant days and was originally part of the Morro Bay Cayucos Rancho. Captain James Cass built the original Wharf which channeled commerce throughout the coastal communities. Cass began construction of the historic pier in 1872. Over the years time and damage from storms eventually took its toll and the pier was shut down for a couple of years then rebuilt in 2015. At 982' long the pier is a focal point for the community.
Captain James Cass's home near the pier was spared the wrecking ball on numerous occasions and today is a popular restaurant. Visiting Cayucos is like taking a trip back in time to about the mid 60's not overly developed it has remained a small friendly community. With eateries, small shops, and primarily residential housing. You can visit Old Cayucos Tavern an iconic saloon/casino offering poker rooms, pool tables and shuffleboard, plus live music in a vintage venue. You can dine at Café Della Via one of the best Italian restaurants around. Seafood is everywhere and for the best dessert anywhere you have the Sea Shanty. Much to see and due with the main focus being the beach of course.

I'm in the West Hills of Atascadero 11 miles from Morro Bay, Cayucos is a favorite place of mine.
