I've been gone from dag for 3 years due to Navy commitments this video captured the spirit of rag better than any documentary or video i've seen or tried to make before. I am completely in love with the framerates and how they show those quick shots you don't really see in almost every video, plus seeing my albion brothers doing work after being gone is soo nice to see. What equipment and settings do you use?
I have a Cannon Rebel T1i that I shoot with at like 25fps and a go pro hero 3+ that I shoot with at 30fps. The slower frame rates give a more of a cinematic style than most videos you'll see.
I usually can't even see shots being thrown in videos even some of the fancy stuff mithris did. So actually being able to see what people are throwing blows my mind!
lol there's so much more to it than that. Two limbs is death. One torso shot is death. Armor adds to the number of hits to kill. Theres a whole rulebook on dagorhir.com if you're interested. But yes. We do hit each other. A lot. Sometimes wildly.
There's actually a fair amount of skill. Newer people tend to be a bit more wild but as they fight more and learn they pick up on body mechanics, shot calibration, and shot placement. There are quite a few very skilled fighters out there who can find the tiniest opening in your defense and take advantage of it. It's truly amazing to watch.
There's a huge amount of skill and athleticism required to actually be a top level fighter, and also many years of practice. What looks like flailing to an outsider are often very precise and practiced movements.
larps come in all shapes and sizes. This is more of a battle game, and is about as physical as larps get before you get into live steel and such. There are many more that are more roleplay and story focused. This is mostly about pure combat and skill.
Loved this video. Seeing friends new and old on the field, in camp, and genuinely having fun excites me for when we go back next year.
Wow such a great video to learn about the fun of Dagorhir. This is one the best Rag videos I've seen so far. Warm Regard, Yim Darkwill
can't wait to go this year. first time will be a blast
Radical! Epic, exciting, pretty much just a great video!! And love that pan-flute outro ;)
Man, Dagorhir sure has changed a lot from when I played. Really nice garb, and even nicer fighting.
another great video

Another great channel to check out if you like being able to see the intricacies of the shots is TUSSLES. There's a lot of awesome use of slow mo.
ending on an arrow shooting the camera? now THAT'S smooth editing.
Mini, teach the others your ways. Now I feel like I WANT to go to Rag.
I would 100% be willing to teach anyone that wants to learn.
yeeeee you used my gopro footage!!
Dude gets demolished @ 0:59
Simply amazing. Good work
So they just hit each other wildly and that's the whole thing?

So what you're saying is, you're hitting each other wildly - but just until the rules say you're done? xd

Cute !

Random priest of sithrak appears 8:30 xD
Are there teams or is this just a free for all?
depends on the scenario. generally speaking, the teams are constantly changed up per the game type
Cool video, but I feel like the music really doesn't suit it. Is there a version without?
Nope. The music determines the whole video. It sets the mood and the tempo for clip cuts. If it really bothers you feel free to hit the mute button.
In Larping we don't change the rules we change you.
No we don't
where does this take place?
This particular event takes place at Coopers Lake Campground in Pennsylvania. However, there are smaller weekend events all across the country!
I got you ! no you didnt
Oh wow! Nobody has ever used this song for a collage before!
Oh they have quite the imagination don't they...
well I am a lvl 63 mage and I would destroy all of you with my fireballs
no magic in this game brother
There's the magic of friendship, though.
That's what larping is? Well that dissuaded me pretty hard. That looked fucking terrible
this is a larp sure. but its more combat centric and less roleplay and no magic.

Different larps are completely different from each other. What about LARP were you looking forward to?
Lightning bolt. Lightning bolt. Lightning bolt. Lightning bolt. Lightning bolt. Lightning bolt. Lightning bolt. Lightning bolt.
no magic is in this game. full force hits and grapples and shield bashing.
Great video, AWFUL music selection lol.
