You’ve touched on the Jones fight before, I believe you said, “I had a lot questions about John and he answered them all once we locked up”. I loved the way you phrased it. As wrestlers we love to put our hands on people and see how they feel, move, strength. It only takes a few seconds to lock horns with someone and realize, “This is not going to go my way”. Another funny example is joe Rogan playing with Mark Coleman and Mark deciding to show joe who the alpha was.
Yeah that's not what happened. Mark Coleman essentially tried to bully Joe Rogan, Joe at one point pulled a simple arm drag, very playful and light, and Coleman immediately uses full strength to push the much smaller man into a corner of a wall. The whole time Joe didn't want any of it.
Mark was being a drunk bully, nothing alpha about that mate. Got issues if you can’t properly have a grip of your ego and you have to result in taking it that step further against a smaller guy that didn’t want it in the first place

IMHO, the reason it changed to timed rounds was most likely due to "lay n pray" grapplers. Shortened rounds and stand 'em up rules formed because of the lack of action brought about by this style.
True. I think the current time for the rounds is a good balance for the grapplers to work their trade and the strikers to get it done. Grappling is an important part of mma and sometimes that takes time.

Dana’s mantra at the time was “there has never been a death or serious injury in mma”. He would’ve talk about how safe it is compared to boxing, as boxing has one offense and that is to punch to the head and body. Dana literally tried to say it was safer than cheerleading. We all fucking love you Chael! It would be a boring world without the bad guy!
You know Chael is about to get into it when he puts his leg down 😂
IMHO, the reason it changed to timed rounds was most likely due to "lay n pray" grapplers. Shortened rounds and stand 'em up rules formed because of the lack of action brought about by this style.
True. I think the current time for the rounds is a good balance for the grapplers to work their trade and the strikers to get it done. Grappling is an important part of mma and sometimes that takes time.
I would give anything to have a conversation with Chael. He has always been my favorite fighter. Wise, extremely intelligent and funny as hell.
I don't agree with everything chael says but I keep coming back because he is honest as hell and I learn stuff from him
"Treat my ass like a pin cushion" just out right admitting he did steroids before fighting Jones
he has many times, he doesnt hide it at all, a popluar line of his is "im 44 but look 24 due to steroids and growth hormone"
lol Chael is very open about doing anything and everything on the market. Its one of the things i love most bout him
@@calvindevries Love the honesty
@@calvindevries that's hilarious because it can age your face instead, but if uncle Chael says it, it's truth.
@@critiquemytechnique2.0 Oh i know! facial changes are a huge indicator of gh
im eating cereal right now and felt like you were talking directly to me😂
I love how chael is trying to sell everything so bad he will literally sell a hot dog being a meal
youre amazing and inspiring mr. Sonnen! thank you for everything youve done for the sport of MMA and for yourself in your life to lead and build your family displaying sacrifice and love thank you for everything sir!
The way he refers the to the audience as “you two people” now😂
9:10 “THE PRESIDENT”
me: 👀
Thought uncle chael got political on us for a sec😂
Jon jones also wants no part of Chael, he's never recovered from that toe injury.
Your truly blessed Chael! And we all are blessed to be able to hear your takes on literally anything, and it’s fascinating to hear! 🙏
Chael fought just so he could eventually talk.
Hey its the guy from Vegas!! In all fairness, he did ask us politely to keep the noise down and we didn't
Dana’s mantra at the time was “there has never been a death or serious injury in mma”. He would’ve talk about how safe it is compared to boxing, as boxing has one offense and that is to punch to the head and body. Dana literally tried to say it was safer than cheerleading. Cheerleading has more serious injuries. He tried to make it seem only slightly more dangerous than gardening
Almost a million subscribers... "You two viewers"... Gets me every time!
No fuckin way Chael would rather have some college wrestling match back over the first Silva fight.
He knows he didn’t deserve to win that fight
@@matthewa2619 Obviously you don’t deserve to win any fight that you lose. But he promised his father on his deathbed that he would win the world championship and was a minute away from doing so, and he’s gonna say with a straight face that he’d rather beat some unknown college wrestler? Not buying it.
Listening to chael talk is ridiculously entertaining
The last minute of this is why I'll(likely) always argue for Jon Jones being the GOAT over Khabib or GSP
Definitely the greatest talent I've ever seen in the octagon
You made sense until you said khabib
"My life has been an assortment of regrets". I feel you, Uncle Chael.
