@@eyywannn8601I wouldn't say that. Guilty Gear (and other 3D arcsys titles like DBFZ) tended towards the smaller framerate generally found in 2D anime, whereas Girls Band Cry is much smoother. It quite literally replicates how 2D anime feels in terms of flow, but it also uses light and shadow in a way that makes it feel natural. That is, using the shading techniques found in 2D anime, having clear regions of light and dark rather than trying to smooth everything out. The problem a lot of 3D anime productions have is their attempt to replicate the flow of 2D anime while also trying to keep the smoother shading of 3D models, which just doesn't tend to work. If we take something like Persona 5 for example, it tends to have smoother shading than 2D anime, so the animation matches that. However, in the 2D cutscenes, they switch to 2D anime practices, with less smoothness and more clear regions of light and dark, as well as lowering the framerate to match. This is why its visual style works so well; it embraces the fact that its art style is different, so it doesn't try to cling on to an element that doesn't match.
I really like how in-tune the animation is with the super active voice acting. something I often dislike about traditional anime is how a character could be shouting with fierce passion yet be stuck on screen with a single frame and some lip-flapping, or with some luck a loop a loop of their head slightly swaying side to side. here everything is both so exaggerated, yet so precise. I noticed something interesting. When they reveal a character is gay in anime most of the time is about a guy and not a girl. The same happened in Lycoris Recoil. Male characters being gay infuriates less people. The male fandom care mostly just of their waifus and are even happy a male character is gay because that means their waifu won't cheat on them cause the guy is gay. Unless it's a male self-insert. The female fandom adores gay male characters so they don't complain. Meanwhile if a female character is confirmed gay the female fandom hate the characters even more, cause they mostly don't like female characters that much to begin with, and the male fandom abhors them because they wanna romance the girls, they don't wanna even consider their waifus could be gay. They'll say it's woke trash or something else.
Holy shit the varied facial expressions, even frame by frame, the phone flying out of her hoodie. The level of detail here makes me consider watching it just for that alone. It's as if Pixar made an anime.

I love this show so much. The animation has so much personality. The music needless to say is also incredible even the background tracks that just play in the background of scenes.
The animation here actually looks quite nice, the 2d expressions mixed with 3d movement adheres together pretty well like how 2d effects were done in arcane. Side note: I would like the environment/background to have a bit more 2d work done instead of being a bunch of 3d assets.
I don’t know if you guys realized but this voice acting is *natural as hell* probably because 3D characters if done well look more realistic and pair better with organic voice acting rather than cartoon anime caricature style voice acting. That’s insane. Seiyuus never get to use natural voice acting unless the director is tasteful or it’s a movie with realistic themes.

This animation is like no other. They're so expressive, I love it!
Uhhhh... now i understand that reaction.
Y’all, 3D anime isn’t drawn, they can move the models as much as they like. So ‘smoothness’ isn’t unusual or hard to achieve.
But the expressiveness is! As are the expression changes to simpler versions. It’s really good, “smooth” is just the wrong thing to praise it for.
The thing is, in anime, 3DCG usually rendered at lower framerate to imitate/blend with its hand drawn part, thus the choppiness.
@@FLXEP yeah, but it takes conscious effort to lower the frame rate to 2D levels.
the constant change of facial expressions and styles for faces is so cool
Yknow for all the obsession with yuri, it's insane how many weebs are severely homophobic.
Something something insecurity.
Then whole reason those type of people are into yuri in the first place is because they are insecure about their waifu being with another man.
They like yuri but only when it’s fiction 😂
they are an embarrassment to nature and you know it
@@Thisdude850unnatural heresy
Yaoi or Yuri it's all bad
It's surprisingly weird to see gay people being so casually mentioned in anime without it being BL or GL necessarily. It's nice.
It is gl story now
@@ЖанАбдрахманов-г9лmaybe
That's how you do it, just casually talk like any other topic. Another example is the gay militia in Arkham Knight.
It's a GL story :)
Tho it would be really nice to have queer couples outside of BL/GL, yeah
Yea
I can’t believe you made Girls Band Cry. Good job!
And, this is what happens when you give a good Budget AND TIME. You get 3D animation that looks good.
CGI anime that doesn't look like a game cutscene that's lagging? My God they do exist
This single clip has probably convinced hundreds of people to check out this amazing show, so thank you for uploading this :D
People dissing on 3d anime since forever but it’s been fucking amazing for a while
Land of the Lustrous was goated af but I guess it takes public opinion or perception a while to change if nothing else.
@@mb7626It was really a hidden gem
The 3D animation is so good reminds me of _Houseki no Kuni_
It should be a crime that no one licensed this and some of us has to go to "seven seas" to watch this
This animation is so smooth omg
I've never heard of this show before
This 3D animation actually looks great. I'd watch something like this.
everybody in the comments : talks about gay people
me: damn that blue jazzmaster looks fire
Doesn't matter if he’s gay or not, he’s allowed to have a roommate
The music sounds so great in this scene.
I mean this is a Yuri anime, this scene is just foreshadowing.
@@AGuy-vq9qpnot really. The anime doesn't feel like yuri at all.
This is so wrong😂
@@dann9300 the pair of main characters here wind up gay for each other.
@AGuy-vq9qp yeah, but I don't feel the romantic development was there. It just came out of nowhere
the voice acring i really LOVE LOVE IT INSTEAD OF THE OVER CUTESTY FORCED VOICE UGHH
That's what i like about it too! All the characters have their uniqness, like Subaru for example ❤
Imagine if RWBY gets rebooted with this style of fluidity in its animation.
Just like how this comment section discovered good CG anime exists. Living under a rock
The animation is just.. so.. peak..
All jokes aside, that animation is very smooth and satisfying. I didn't think I'd ever enjoy 3D un-shaded animes.
Holy shit the varied facial expressions, even frame by frame, the phone flying out of her hoodie. The level of detail here makes me consider watching it just for that alone. It's as if Pixar made an anime.
Seems to me like Japanese animators are finally taking cues from western 3D animation studios. Probably not enough cues, to be honest. The mouth animations when they are just talking are pretty goofy, but the exaggerated expressions and body language are pretty good for a 3D anime.
I read a comment saying that the music was great but animation in this show was horrible. WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY ON?! This is some of the best 3D animation I've ever seen, the timing, movement and expressions are so great. I genuinely think people just hate 3D anime just because its 3D. This is awesome!
Yeah, some people got 'traumatized' after watching a bad CGI, so they think all 3D anime is bad 💔
Honestly, I think 3d in general is inferior to 2d. The best 2D will always outshine the best 3D.
@@olivercharles2930 look at zenless zone zero
I'd honestly watch this to see the 3d animation alone, this is by far the best ive seen out of an anime
You should give Houseki no Kuni a watch then, it came years before this one and is still on the same level of quality ^^

It actually looks decent, and isn't straight garbage is probably why.
you know no anime streaming service has actually bought the rights for Girl's Band Cry? BUT IT'S SO GOOD! THE ANIMATION IS SO CUTE AND CHARISMATIC! I love the intro too
so happy this was recommended to me. just watched episode 1-12 and cant wait for the next ones!
This might be one of the best looking 3d animes I have ever seen.
I love this show so much. The animation has so much personality. The music needless to say is also incredible even the background tracks that just play in the background of scenes.
I'd imagine this is how D4DJ would be animated if they went full 3d animation instead of 3d imitating 2d. Not bashing on D4DJ, just food for thought.
Momoka's voice is so soothing and cool. AAAAHHHHHH
IKR!!! ❤❤❤
this is a prime example on how to mix 3D animation with 2D really well
Japan finally mastered 3D animation. It's like the one thing America does better, even for TV
I thought this was a game, I can't believe there's actually a 3D anime that looks as good as a game with anime models.
Dante Iseri and Vergil Kawaragi, Girls May Cry.
Forget the scene, I just love the random cat you zoomed in on.
Some one earned their pay check making 3D look like it was animated in frames.
It isnt. Mainstream anime watcher are like gamers. Increase fps and they somehow conflate smoothness with good 🤡

Side note: I would like the environment/background to have a bit more 2d work done instead of being a bunch of 3d assets.

All 3D anime animation should learn from this one
I like how this implies that a guy and a girl can only live together if one of them is gay.
The facial expressions as they talk are much more fluid and natural than most anime...I'm into it
we finally reached that moment when 3d anime don't look like shit
I don’t know if you guys realized but this voice acting is *natural as hell* probably because 3D characters if done well look more realistic and pair better with organic voice acting rather than cartoon anime caricature style voice acting. That’s insane. Seiyuus never get to use natural voice acting unless the director is tasteful or it’s a movie with realistic themes.
This anime, the music, the band voicing it, it all seemingly just came out of nowhere. HOW THE FUCK IS IT ALL THIS GOOD??
It’s like cleaned up RWBY, the physics-defying animations that stay smooth, but without constant hair clipping bs.
Actual good 3D animated anime? Never thought I'd see the day
Rwby crawled and walked so this animation style could run. It so nice to see a different animation style suceed and be its own distinct thing. This and the Trigun show doing good work
