      Was this worth your time? I ask because I'm always trying to decide how far to go when scraping. Half the time I go to get rid of junk steel and end up taking things out of the scrap yard. :) (I always go back to payoff the scrap yard guard with his favorite soda.)

    About 20 years ago, I had 10 rooftop units that had compressors that big! Just sent them off as compressors. But the units had aluminum casings, and copper aluminum rads about 9" thick!! Both the compressors and the rads were 2,500 lbs each total and was a VERY good payday!!!

    That was a very good video. Not to many times do people get a chance to see what's in a compressor that size. Looked a little bit tricky to get the windings out but you did an awesome job to do so. Really enjoyed watching. Thank you.

    Nice haul of copper scrap. Almost 11 ponds.
    That's worth about $30.00 - $45.00 here in Oregon. Not a bad day's pay. Nicely done sir.

    Nice pile of copper there. Won't be surprised to see it going for $5.00 per pound some time next year. Lets go Branden.

  • @haynillesen
    @haynillesen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe you can use a rubber band to tighten the pliers , and put something under the stator when you use the puller ,so it stays in place. Small changes make a huge difference.

      @@streetcopper1151 that oil is toxic either way my friend (not dangerous much) but yes it's true that it will turn in more toxic..... The bad thing is the fumes when you cut them or you use the plasma cutter..... You have to do it in a well ventilated space or best outdoor... The worst for me is the dust from the angle grinder wheels...

    I sold 3 of them 217 pounders for $65 each to my scrap yard, I think made a better deal to sell them as is

    • @simplescrapping
      @simplescrapping  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree with you my friend.... The thing is that here I would get 30-35$ for that as it was.... now I would get around 50$... that is not a good profit but I wanted to show that the big motors (or compressors) don't have a good ratio steel/copper. I prefer to cut the smaller compressors.... Thank you for watching and commenting my friend.

  • @Nas_Atlas
    @Nas_Atlas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    so roughly 1/20th the weight of the compressor was copper. Good to know to figure out effort vs payoff.

    • @simplescrapping
      @simplescrapping  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I would not do it again my friend.... I knew how much was inside (I opened other in the past) but I wanted to show to other fellows the ratio steel/copper from big motors. But I will continue to cut the smaller compressors of curse 😁

      The think is that if I sold it as it was I will get 25€ and if I cut it I will get 50€..... Doubling my money (minus 1 cutting weel) isn't so bad for 1 hour job.... If I had the price that you have over there for the compressors I wouldn't even touch the grinder 🤣🤣🤣
