I don't have a lot of purses, I have purged MANY in the past. I still found some to declutter today and now I am going to treat myself to a new bag that I LOVE!

Treat yourself yes! I am all in for buying a good quality purse/bag. I used to have several not so high quality and ended up overall spending more and honestly didn't really love any of them.

Please go out and splurge on that new purse and get a special frappe or something. That's a really nice baby step in rewarding yourself.

Exactly lol. Hilarious.
LOL.. My mom's toilet was out of commission for a few days. She set up a "honey bucket" lined with a trash bag. Every morning when she left for work, she remove the plastic bag. She didn't want this in her car so she close the handle part in the trunk and left the poop part hanging down. Then drove to then end of our driveway (600 yards) she stopped put it in the trash cans and drove to work. One day she got stopped by a police officer. She asked what the problem was? He said you have something hanging out of your trunk.... You can't image what my mom did.. She jumped out grabbed the poop and slung it into the backseat and told the cop since when has it become a crime that you can't carry your poop to work with you. She drove off with the cop's standing there ; with his mouth wide open.... We still laugh about it to this day....

Yes, please show us your new purse! I'm not a purse gal, I carry a clutch into a store, but have a tote that lives in the car holding all the important stuff like planner and address book! You tempt me to go purse shopping, but I'll hold back. Loved the "poo" story - family stories are the best!!

Keep the grocery totes in the car and take them in when you go shopping. It might take a few trips to remember...but it's awesome. No more millions of grocery bags shoved under the sink. (Or in the trash 😩)

Omg, I'm such a purse addict. I recently got rid of purses, and boy, it hurt. Yes, show us your new purse. Story at the end...Horrors! Horrors! As my granny would've said, lol! 💩😷
For a mom I def recommend something like a chanel classic flap. I used to hoard purses, all cheapy kate spade ones, and now I have a couple chanels and thats all I use. I use them all because I paid good money and thought them out. All my cheapy bags, price wise, added up to less than one chanel so I never felt bad ignoring them
I am a purse person, purses are my thing. I have had every style of purse out there. My mom and I had that in common. I have my mom's last purse she carried before she died, the one she had in the hospital. It still has everything in it and is in my closet. I recently got rid of about 10 purses. The thing is, when I change purses, I just put all the receipts, stuff, etc into this one old purse I don't really like and don't ever carry, so I have like 20 years of old receipts, pictures, etc. in this purse that I can't seem to throw away. Maybe some day.
Oh my goodness! You just emptied MY handbag for sure!!! I find the weirdest crap in my bag all the time! I have one thing in it that I don't even know what it is!!! I hate those things - "I don't know what this is - it may be an important part of something - I have to keep it where I can find it - IN MY BAG!!!" As for your relative - oh my goodness! Cried laughing!

Just an idea....I use an empty pill bottle as my purse trash can. Then when it is full of wrappers, lollipop sticks or tissues the whole bottle gets tossed.

I don't have alot of purses either but love my tote bags. This is a hard one.
That's a good idea I will try this. Always frustrated with all the bits of stuff in my purse blocking me from seeing the things I need.

In Australia we can donate to a not-for-profit group that started collecting sanitary pads and tampons for distribution to homeless women. Once a year you can donate a bag (used) and fill it with new items like toothpaste, tampons, wipes, makeup, etc. You can buy a lot for only a few dollars at your local dollar type store. The charity calls it Share The Dignity.
I just moved so I don't need to declutter since I just did that, but I watch these just for the stories at the end!

Hi Cas from Oz. 🇦🇺. Didn't do as great at this as I would have wanted... not so ruthless YET. But did purge 6 purses. Hopefully, I will get better at this new decluttering thingy along the way.

OMG thats too much lol ssoooo many other choices yet it ends up in the purse lol back to purses tho...i had about 100 purses, no joke. i went thru & got rid of about half of them. over the next 2yrs or so i slowly threw away more cuz they were very worn or the lining was ripped or the handles broke. in this 2yr span i had a baby so i stopped using a purse & used a diaper bag then switched back to the purse & realized i dont like shoulder bags, i prefer cross body purses. but ALL of my purses (except maybe 5) were shoulder bags! so i made a deal with my hubby...i could buy a few brand new cross body bags IF i got rid of ALL my shoulder bags. so literally in the last month i threw out all of my shoulder bags, about 30-40 & i now have maybe 10 total cross body bags. and the best part is my purse bin isnt overflowing anymore! thanks for sharing!

Cass, check the pockets and sections in those purses carefully! You might throw out important stuff like earrings you took off, money, keys, charge cards, etc! Wipe down the inside with a damp cloth or vacuum them. out.

Ive been purging bags for several years now. On saturday I donated 5 that I dearly loved but hadnt used in that time. ...sigh. I simply have no more room for this 'stuff' we surround ourselves with.
I use a small makeup purse that holds incidentals like stickyplasters painkillers safetypins etc. I just put it into the next bag I use. And I always cleanout my bag each morning before I leave the house. I have no concept of a junk filled handbag. I also store my bags with the cloth bag it comes with. Im also done with buying any more bags. I found one in the wardrobe I had no idea I owned. 😅 so thats it for me.

OOO! Don't throw out anything without going thru it! I started decluttering little jewelry boxes I had saved. and then I thot 'Id better check". and I found my sweet 16 ring that HAD BEEN LOST FOR 2 WHOLE YEARS!!! inside one of the boxes!!! In a junk drawer! and there might be money in them thar purses! Wopee!

- we have a "family member" who made candles one year for everyone at Christmas. They were was cinnamon scented and brown and lumpy. It looked like 💩. We have never burned it, and every Christmas we pull it out and enjoy a good laugh, and my decorations box smells like cinnamon, thank goodness.
I need more than 15 minutes to go through my purses - I am a "purse person". I know I need to go through and pass some of them on to family and others can be sold, and I do need a new black bag and a new neutral bag. Yes, I have receipts, and a ton of lip glosses and lipsticks and other cosmetics in my bags, although I cleaned most of them out before storage.

Omg! My best friend's mom told me that story in 1998, and I laughed until I cried! In her version, the "victim" was a 20-something year old. It's been 29 years, and I remember like it was yesterday,--so funny!

Love your stories and I thought of a great story about a purse to tell you but then your story was the same as mine.
My best friend once confessed on a night out with the girls hoe she'd been to a dinner party at her partners' boss' house. She did a huge poop, wouldn't flush, wrapped it up and popped it her her purse. Sat through the remainder of dinner with it hanging off her chair. On the way home she confessed to her partner and he made her throw it out the cab. She had to throw out her very expensive purse too!

I am a one purse kinda girl but tote bags seem to multiply... Yhwboyyom of my pantry has shopping bags, reusable and onea I get because I forget the reusable ones... Need to declutter that area! And who puts poop in their purse! When my husband and I were newly weds I had a bad bathroom episode where I swear it was like I gave birth on the toilet. It was literally like a rock and clogged it to the point my husband had to shop vac it out.... Only he put it on blow I stead of suck at first and poo went all over him and the bathroom walls etc! That is love. 😉

Whatever you do don't get a purse with lots of sections. I did that this year and could never find anything in it. It's now in the donate box by the door and I need to get a new purse. Using an old one with no sections in the meantime. I do like to have an outside pocket on it though for phone and keys. Good luck!

I would not believe it if it didn't happen to and friend and I at a party! OMG! My friend panicked just like she did but she called me. I came to the bathroom and we tried everything! I think 30 minutes later we were like, DAm*! We are going to have to get the hostess. UGH! We were mortified but we had to. She got the plunger and said "this happens to us all the time"...she was such a sport about it we relaxed but I feel your family member. It is just horrid to have that happen to you.

Cass that is so funny I have a fidget spinner in my purse to and son is 15 after he gets done with it he hands it to me when we are out and I put it in my purse.
I clean my purse out every other day only bc I make sure the kids always give me their papers and wrappers so they dont litter and yeah my OCD gets the best of me

For this day I have to replace it with purging something else cuz I only have 2 purses! I’m not a purse person. Two reasons: 1. I don’t have the time or the energy to switch purses around, 2. I like a good quality purse, they are expensive so I can’t have many of those!
Honestly I would declutter my purses but just did about a month or two ago. 🙂
