my black ms6 took a similar blow in actually the same spot, luckily it was a fawn and I was going 30 so my bumper took most of the damage. Good luck with the rebuild clean ms6's are getting harder and harder to come by.
As a speed 6 owner w 96k who lives in the northeast in pristine condition with the dreaded rear quarter rust on the way, thanks for bringing me back to 0
Bro how did the insurance claim that it's totaled, it's not that bad im glad you are going to fix it yourself and not let it die, they are getting pretty rare and it's my dream car (currently owning a 6 Mzr-Cd)
Short answer: That’s how it shakes out once itemized by an adjuster with how they currently value the car. Further detailed answer: It would take getting a public adjuster and spending weeks-months or longer dancing with the insurance company. Insurance only values this like a regular Mazda 6 from 2003-2008, the “mazdaspeed” option is no different in value for replacement to them. This is roughly $5,000-7,000 using Xactimate or one of the approved valuing resources if not combed through by a seasoned adjuster who is detail oriented. A few guys have had success getting individual adjusters to value there cars north of $20k but I’d have to compile all that data from those current/previous owners and present it in arbitration with the PA along with our itemized scope of work and supporting evidence of value. The new oem replacement parts, what’s left available from stock across the county, not including all the parts I would have to acquire far exceed the 70-90% values assigned for the total car and make it a no brainer for the insurance company to cut a smaller check and play dumb making the owner prove it’s current values because most won’t. After all that it would most likely have an R title when it shakes out. Now, people like you and I that deem “it’s not that bad” and have the skills to fix it using new and second hand parts parts, we will have a perfect car with reasonable money and time spent. Our thought process makes too much since brother, and it takes too many resources to prove this to the insurance companies. One of my career paths is specializing in home and business insurance restorations claims from making an initial claim, final sweep of the grass/parking lot for nails and debris, to closing paperwork to get any funds not paid but proven necessary from the agreed upon insurance RCV approval. I felt like I should include that information to show where my thought processes comes from. My computers all failed at once but I’m back up running and plan to have part 2 up shortly 🤙🏻, thanks for being interested I appreciate the comments!
I still have my mazdaspeed 6, I just can't bring myself to get rid of it, despite it and some various issues, It's a unique car and legitimately fun to work on, harder to find parts these days! owned my for about a decade now
That’s awesome! I’ve been sick for the last couple weeks so I haven’t got to throw up part 2 but the windshield has been replaced now and I’ve been driving the car around with no bumper waiting on some fenders and a bracket 🤙🏻
Glad ur keeping, I didn’t have a question tho. My I had a Dragonball on my Mazda 3, the knob was able to come out pretty easy all I had to do was twist but it seems that it is not that easy to get my Mazda 6 MPS(MazdaSpeed 6 in Europe 🙃). How did you install yours?
That’s awesome, what number did you go with? To answer your question, It comes off the same way. I bet you have a little oxidation on your threads making it feel like an immovable object. 🤣 is yours right hand drive? 😳
@@LaneSplitting247 On the Mazda 3 I went with 5 star because it had 5 gears. With the 6 I wanted to get the 6 star, and Yes Sir it is right hand drive! I’m stationed in England for the time being but I can’t ship it back since the car isn’t 25 years old yet. Just have to find a way to store it for 9 years 😂, I think a right hand JDM car would be an awesome thing to have in the states
@@LaneSplitting247 right now my car is currently getting rust repairs(You know Mazda!) but I’ll see what I can do about getting it off when I get it back
@@LaneSplitting247 Just an update. Got the car back and..You were right xD, i guess the first time i just didn't give it enough oomph. 5-star ball is on it until i get the 6-star
It’s going great, had the car back together driving with a wrong colored front bumper. I sourced a matching fender and bumper so I tore it back down a week ago. Another couple weeks and it will be good as new! Thanks for asking. I have a couple photos of it assembled in current condition on Instagram. @MesserMoto
@@LaneSplitting247 awesome! I did a similar rebuild with a 2004 Mazda 6 V6. Deer hit the same spot too! You should post a new vid here when you get a chance!
