I had the pleasure of seeing Culture Club on 7/26 with my best friend. I have seen them 4 times , and they haven't missed a beat. 🎉. It was my friend's first ( and last sadly last) chance to see Culture Club and he had a great time! Good times all around.
We enjoyed Culture club more in 2018 when they played with Thompson Twins in Toronto - more energy, more authentic and more of a party event. This time, Boy George seemed more subdued and casual - the arrangements were slower and less enthusiastic... and he relied too much on his "guest vocalists" to carry the show. Maybe missing Roy affected the mood and authenticity of the synthesizer/keyboard component? Berlin was a wonderful surprise, very talented. Howard Jones seemed to REALLY carry the nostalgia better and had more genuine crowd interaction during his performance and arrangements. Still an awesome night !
