    Can't stress enough how important hosting selection is when building a site for yourself or a client. It makes all the difference when it comes to overall performance. Additional plugins can only fix so much.

    Another great video. Thank you Paul. I am using Block themes more these days and therefore the need for a child theme is no longer really needed. So what I do with regards to solve the lack of a theme based functions.php file is I create a Must Use plugin, call it something like site-functions.php and place all CPT coding and any other functions I need in that and enqueue a JS file as well if needed. You could also do this same approach with a Classic theme and that way if the theme is ever changed in the future, the functions remain and are not lost, like CPTs for example. This also prevents the must use plugin to never be deactivated or removed by the client by accident. Just my thoughts on that. Thanks again for a great video Paul 🙂

      A very nice idea - plus, you have control over it and it makes things easy to move from site to site.

    I’d love to see an approach for big sites, for example, how to setup a VPS and allow Redis. That’s poorly documented but this seems game changing.
    And great video as always ❤

    I see no harm in just using the code snippets plugin. It’s not exactly adding bloat to the front end of my site.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And no one is saying you shouldn't.. I'm providing an option or alternative to get the benefits of those snippets and not need a plugin installed to manage them. Simples. ::

      @KOBE42__ 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WPTutswhile I agree that minimising plugins is ideal, I’m talking exclusively about code snippets. It is a much better solution than changing the functions file on a child theme. I’d argue that if there was one plugin you want activated on a site to reduce plugins, it would 100% be the code snippet plugin itself.
      Great video never the less, always find them valuable even if we perhaps disagree on this one particular aspect ✌️

    The easiest way to optimize WP is to remove it from your tech stack. We recently dumped WP and converted everything to cloud micro-services. Cut our hosting bill to a fraction of what it was with WP as our CMS, not to mention the speed and SEO improvements basically paid for the upgrade.

    • @EricDegaardt

      What is ”Cloud Micro Service”? Is it a Company or a concept one can use to build websites?

      @@EricDegaardt there are hundreds of them, but for our tech stack we're using MongoDB, Vercel (NextJS) and Auth0. We went from having a B+ on GTMetrix to having a A+ with the switch.

      I used to be impatient about juniors talking down other tech stacks. Now I feel bad. I've been doing cloud-native stuff including all the microservices, Kubernetes, and whatnot. But after I got laid off, I was just so happy to come back to work on my WordPress. I just bought myself $3000 worth of plugins on my bday, on black Friday deals.

    CPT-UI is kind of obsolete nowadays. Most people work with ACF or Metabox where you can create taxonomies out of the box.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The problem is, if you use ACF to create a CPT and meta fields, you don’t get everything once you disable the plugin.
      Besides, this was just an example. 😉😛

    • @PicSta
      @PicSta 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WPTuts I know, I know, but you shouldn't disable ACF once installed. It's like with a wife, once married, life is over. You never go back. 🤣
