I come back to this performance again and again, I love it so much. And I think this may be my favorite jig of them all as well. I first taught myself this tune on the mandolin about 6 years ago. I searched and searched on youtube through countless performances, both live at home and recorded, and this one just moves me like no other. I taught myself using me ears and eyes and this video and went so far as to try to translate a lot of the fiddle player's ornamentations to the mandolin as well. Though I must say, I have still never been able to manage to match your speed! You make it look like it's no big deal but playing this fast is no easy feat. Thank you for sharing this performance.

This is my favourite rendition. The open chords mix very well with the fiddle melancholic playing. I find the third theme particularly moving.

You've got a really great sound going there Joe. Fantastic stuff! I don't know if you remember me, but it's quite a long time since we met. I think it was at the trad sessions in Derry, where you were playing banjo and I was playing mandola at that time. Since then I've moved on to harp and I also play a little on bouzouki. Really nice to see you again, thanks to the power of TH-cam.
You've inspired me to attempt to learn this piece. Thanks =]... I've been playing classical violin for 5 years and switching to traditional irish music is really difficult... I suppose its because the rhythm is so complex and stuff...

Superb. Just learned this on the sopranino recorder that most people think is a whistle.
Not normally keen on DADGAD but it works really well here.

Wonderful playing and such beautiful rythm’. I’ve been working and working at this tune on the mandolin and getting the Irish rhythm hasn’t been easy (I’m Scottish) but playing along with this will really help. Can I ask is the guitar in DADGAD ?
