      In 2019, I bought a 2013 Yaris 1.33 MT5 for 8500$. Had to sell it, got me a 2006 Yaris 1.0 for 2650$, and it was a decent 3cylinder, even did some motorway. Now, 2024, I got me a really high trim 2015 Yaris 1.33 MT6, just 40k miles, in top condition. Still bland, still boring to drive, still the bad motorway consumption, yet...a relatively good avg consumption and top reliability! Oil + filters is all a yaris needs, unless you drive like maniac.
      On motorway, 130kmh, the 6th gear on the manual 6 feels just...meh. It drives, can do like 170kmh i guess, but even single in the car with no luggage, a stepper hill can make you downshift to 5th. Consumption is like 6.5L when driven on a straight at 130kmh, but any ups can cause it to jump to 9L easily.
      Its not a good highway car if you prime is consumption. Thene again, if you dont drive it motorway that much, just ocassionally, I wouldnt go for a diesel anyway.
      Its a good car to be in if you arent a bmw freak or sports fanatic. Its a good family car too, drives A to B with ease, low tax, low insurance, no fuss car.
      I have a keyless open and start, leather packet, bluetooth, USB, cruise control (tempomat), day lights, and its just nice, especially if you buy second hand with low mileage. Especially under 10k

    Nice recommendation from TH-cam! I have this very Yaris model, infotainment system and all ('62 plate, manufactured and registered late 2012) albeit in white not red, and love it. Finally passed my test in mid January and bought mine late January. Fantastic first car as I'm not using it 7 days a week - it's a great car to get about town or slightly further afield on a trip to see friends in (or near) London. Highly recommend. And yeah that learner you encountered was mad to cross over! Yeah they'll have had low visibility with a bigger vehicle in front but should have taken even more care for that very reason!

    Why does this look so much nicer than a Corsa on the inside.
    I love the shape of the dash etc, but always thought Toyotas were flimsy and poorly made.
    I am looking at a first car and want it to be reliable to get me through till the end of Uni. The Euroncap test on the Yaris kinda scared me away lol, just crumpled like paper (compared to a Corsa)
    My dad's completely against buying a car of his size in the first place, suggesting an Astra/Focus. Not finding any under 2.5k

      My 2015 yaris looks nicer inside than my pals 2020 corsa. Tho the corsa looks better outiside. whatever, Im only in for the reliability. Who has done thousands of dollar in repairs, knows that some cars just aint worth it for regular folks. The fact mazda or peugeot (renault group) engines roam the new toyotas is a sacrilege!!! Older toyota VVT-I are the only worth. EU tard norms and regulations of the globalists who dont care for us, ruin cars

    • @andyguk
      @andyguk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If you can stretch you budget to one of these, it would definitely make a good first car. Cheap to buy, cheap to run, cheap to insure

    • @littlefreddie1987
      @littlefreddie1987 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @red dead sniper. I’ve owned the Yaris 1.33 vvti in blue for 4years now. Been the most reliable car I’ve had. Quite hand car too. Managed get a double mattress folded in the back 🤣🤣. If your budget can stretch I would get one hands down. My first car was a 1992 Nissan micra 1.3 super S. that was a good first car too. Exspensive on the insurance at the time.

    How noisy is it inside at 70mph?

    • @andyguk
      @andyguk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Fairly refined for a small car, obviously not as quiet as larger more expensive cars, but I'd happily take it on the motorway for an hour or so

    • @ancientslav4863
      @ancientslav4863 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pretty noisy, but not like if the windows were down. Iver had a 2006, 2013 and now a 2015 yaris, all were noisy at motorway, but thats is compared to really quiet expensive cars. You can easily speak, listen to music at 70mph. You get used to it.

      Toyota Yaris is a lovely car, very reliable but might be a bit underpowered in hilly cities. My dad has a 2012 Yaris 1.33 . It is only the TR model but it does the job and because it is a Toyota, it is very reliable and my dads car has never broken down (Other than the battery going dead a couple of times)
      Edit: my dad doesn't have the bottom spec yaris

    • @oddities-whatnot
      @oddities-whatnot 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trainman86trainstramsandmore That the main thing, they are so reliable. Id take that over power any day. I have an Impreza hatchback now, only 1.6 but I never ever think it will fail. Toyota and Subaru built to last.
