let the l-x part be a mass attached to x .now M/L=m/(l-x),where m=mass of l-x part,then m=(l-x)M/L,then tension in x=mg,substitue m=(l-x)M/L.thus we got our answer.

I have an easier method. The given Length is "L" so at Position x ~ L-x,the average will be (L-x)/L. Therefore, tension is Mg * L-x/L
But how do we know that we have to take average.....🤔🤔
