If you haven't seen any of his double neck tapping in the two weeks since this video you GOTTA check that out. Except it's not a traditional double neck, it's two guitars joined at the ass. Watching him play that thing it feels like the human brain shouldn't be able to do that but he does it anyway.
My mans TheDooo literally does huge charity streams with one of the guitarists from Dragonforce. Dudes an absolute talent, he can play the piano, make songs, sing, and plays an assortment of other weird instruments as well. Idk how he does it all. Just pure fucking talent.
Only caveat is on the sweeps. It's not just playing in reverse, you're sweeping the pick up and down at the same time as fingering arpeggios on the fretboard. The precision required to not sound like a garbled mess is always impressive. The dooo uses a combination of sweep picking, alternate picking, economy picking, pinch harmonics and a litany of other techniques to achieve the sounds he does. He's got like 17 or 18 years of experience playing hours a day every day. Keep in mind he also plays a lot of video games with swagger souls, grizzy, mcnasty and a bunch of other TH-cam. He can sing really good too. He's also been featured in a few of the big shred collabs with Jared dines.
I noticed that also. This guy seems somewhat knowledgeable about guitars, but I got the impression that he tried to sound more knowledgeable than he actually is.
The doo has been playing for 14 years and is 26. I don’t think its possible to be able to learn through the fire and the flames at full speed with no mess ups in 5 years regardless of practice time or talent. Herman Lee said that was the best cover of it that hes heard live and he wrote the song 😂. It’s also more obvious that hes played so long when you hear him listen to a song once and then play it even though he doesn’t have perfect pitch. Edit - best version of the song hes heard played live. He included himself in the statement.
I don't care how many hours a day you practice.. Noone gets close to the level of The Doo in any less than 5 years at the absolute minimum. His ear alone will have taken years to get to the level it is
It also helps that Dooo went to college for music production as well, he's definitely not new to music by any means. I've been playing guitar pretty inconsistently for 15ish years myself and I'm even not on his level. You've gotta consistently practice daily for a very long time to get to that level.
Nice! You gotta show him the ones where he plays by just listening to a song ( mostly found in his "Perfect Pitch" or "playing by ear" videos). Your friend here is pretty knowledgeable btw.
This dude just has a great personality and insight into guitar, your crossbow wielding chimp friend (what is that channel name btw?). TheDooo is just so fun to watch
21:04 That is where you're wrong, my dude. He doesn't need to Google what key the song is in. All he needs to do is hear the song, and he can pick up the key. He's been playing for like 14 or more years, so it comes with the experience.
Don't be afraid to ask anybody to adjust their camera. I'm sure that the teacher would have wanted us to be able to see what he was trying to show us. It's your content and the quality matters. Learning from and adjusting to fix what you didn't think was good enough, shows you care/give a shit.
im gonna inform you mister guitar teacher and rainey. Several famous artists say that TheDooo is considered one of the best guitar players of all time. He can match perfect pitch through a song and he can play any song. I'm not just a fanboy of TheDooo, I own a guitar myself and I've been playing for around 3 years and im probably just as good as the teacher. TheDoo has actually been playing for around 16-17 years ON TOP OF THAT, he knows how to play bass guitar and he knows how to play piano. Don't down talk to TheDooo mister guitar teacher
I don't see any point where he misrepresents the Dooo's ability. He's trying to explain things as a teacher, knowing and even admitting that the Dooo is beyond his personal ability, but still trying to explain how things are played in a way that's easy to understand. Have some respect for the difference between years and years of practice, and trying to EXPLAIN what those years and years of practice involve. If someone with no previous knowledge asks you how an internal combustion engine works, you can't just start spouting the math about tolerances and flow rates and precise machining.
If the Doooo was a chomo we’d be in trouble. The young man talking call and response and theory just makes me happy listening. Knowing. we have young people to pickup the reins. Well done video.
Skill level 8 or 9 out of 10 probably for @chimpwithacrossbow ! Would like to see him actually battle TheDooo himself, wonder who would win. The viewers, that's who lol
The reason the Dooo can basically play any song is because he has relative pitch/perfect pitch (the same thing charlie puth was born with that lets him know exactly what the note he hears is) but you can tell by how good he is that he spent years practicing guitar but the relative pitch only makes him better
Relative pitch and perfect pitch are different. TheDooo only has relative pitch so he may not know every note exactly but he can assume from hearing the intervals between notes and having knowledge of what notes might come next. It’s more of just a worse version of perfect pitch that mostly comes from practice rather than natural talent
As a guitar player, this teacher it almost 100% right; the doo most likely does not look up key signatures. (what song the key is in) This separates what most people can and cannot (sort of) do by nature. He has mastered technique and and overall music control. Sure he plays by ear and his mind is fast. He has perfect pitch. Very rare. Think about why someone who whistles well as a semi unconscious habit make music that is pleasing to the ear. Key word, “pleasing”. they hear it. Simple and complex simultaneously. A lot of the classical the Doo plays in this video comes from Steve Vai, he even plays the ending of crossroads, a movie with the karate kid. Rock and roll
That big with the small in between is very similar to "The power of the one" which is the foundation for Funk created by the Great Bootsy Collins who began his career jamming for James Brown. James was tough on Bootsy, but created the Funkiest Man alive to Slap a bass.
This guy makes it sound like you can reach the level of dooo within a few years. I am here to tell you that is like saying that you can become like Ronaldo in football with a few years of practice. The dooo is a musical genius, most people will not be able to doooo what he is doing in their lifetime!
I don't guyess you know this about Thedoo... He HATES playing thunderstruck cause ppl asking him to play it so damn much. He's been playing for about 12 years and he has perfect pitch. He can listen to the beginning of any song for 5-10 seconds and play it perfectly. I've been playing for about 20 years in 3 different bands, tours/etc and he's the best all around musician and guitarist I've ever seen. Have a great one
Sweep picking is not exactly what he says, but is hard like he says. From other youtubers and friends I know, Doo is a sweet guy. Unless fighting him online.
none of you know anything about guitar lmaooo just leave the shredding to the doo had me dead when he asked blondie to demonstrate his skills and he played that lol
Dooo the only request I have for you is to play something you created, write a song expressing your personal musical self. From one musical body to another dude.
He has done that and it was just as good. Take a listen to “Ascend” and you’ll see what I mean. He also has some covers that feature just how spectacular his voice is
Bit of a background on the ACDC thing, he really doesn't like playing Thunderstruck, because it gets requested way too often. If I remeber correctly he said in some video that just because the intro is somewhat fast people just assume it's a really impressive song to play, but for him it's just boring to play it over and over when a large majority of people requests it.

I think its hilarious that the guitar player in this video doesnt recognize the first song the doo plays. He hasnt seen Crossroads with Steve Vai and Ralph Machio? He didnt make it up. Its actually based on a piece called Caprice No.5 by Paganini. Its actually a violin piece. Its a cool movie about Robert Johnson and the legend of how he sold his soul to the devil in trade for learning how to play blues guitar. Actually Paganini was accused of doing the same for violin. They say many amzing musicians have made the same deal.
sweep picking not only requires you to have complete knowledge of a guitar . but also have to have some quick ass fingers that keep up with that brain . So you could still pick it up fast . you don’t NEED years lol

Yeah, Herman Li
Not only does he do streams with Herman Li from Dragonforce, Li has also said The Dooo is one of the best guitar players he has seen

For sure
Thinking this man plays twice a week for 3-5 years is CRAAAZY. More like 15 years. This man is the GOAT.
