      It is definitely moments like this that mean a lot to both me and my wife. We do spend a lot of time apart which can be difficult.

    Thank you for letting us into your daily life and the ins/outs of what it means to be a lighthouse keeper. Glad your wife was able to come and visit. It's important to keep the sparks going. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together ❤

      Glad you enjoyed this little peek. While it is difficult being away from my wife for such lengths of time, it was known before I took the job that this would be the case until such time that she would be able to move to a station with me. Hopefully that time is not too far off.

    I love lighthouses, wonder what it would be like to work as a lighthouse worker/live in a lighthouse? I imagine it is casual, until the storms hit?

      Working as a lighthouse keeper has been one of the best experience I have ever had in my 50 years of experience. It is a great job and I really have nothing negative to say about it, other than being away from my wife but that will change eventually. I have not had the opportunity to work at a station that gets really excessive storms yet but I hope to one day get the chance to see how exciting 80 knot winds can be like.

      @@BCLighthouseKeeper I can't imagine it, myself. I've been almost blown off the road while driving in the desert of Arizona, so that can be plenty scary enough. BTW: In the monsoon season, they have these dust storms, & sometimes it rains @ the same time: I like to be funny & call it a mud storm, though it doesn't come together like a mud storm. Life is too short, so I'm always trying to find something to laugh @.

    So who else is there flying the drone? But I see you have a controller in your hand...

    • @BCLighthouseKeeper
      @BCLighthouseKeeper  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, I was able to program the drone to follow us and do some turns and things as well. It enabled us to explore a little and the drone would just follow us. I kept the controller on me so I could take off and land when the battery ran out.

    How long have you two been married for now? Cool drone shots by the way!

      Thanks for the compliment. The Spark pretty much flies itself which is great but I am still learning much of how it all works.
      At the time of this filming, we had been married for 2 and a half years but been together for almost 6 years.

    What's that other three story building for. I'm thinking it's an office. How often can your wife visit and could she live there with you full time and possibly get paid at the same time?

    • @BCLighthouseKeeper

      The only 3 floor building on the island is the Principal house. I did not go into it on my island tour but you can see it here: th-cam.com/video/2FWND657YZA/w-d-xo.html

    Who is driving the drone?

    • @BCLighthouseKeeper
      @BCLighthouseKeeper  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you look really close you can see the controler in my hand, usually the one further from the camera. I handle most of the drone work. On my newer videos I have a camera operator but all these older ones, I did it myself.
