This reminds me of how I used to hear עין סוף, when I'm supposed to hear אין. Which makes me look into the letter עין, ע as a light beam hitting the retina, and אלף, א as a refusal of the effect of perception, perhaps even negatively a form of blindness, from which power could stem. You could say power is the ratio of action over perception, that could either be achieved through the acute understanding of perception of a עבד, or through the stubborn unwavering blindness of a אבן
