I'm so glad you've finally reacted to this album, it needs more exposure, Y&Y deserves more ! I saw them at Lollapalooza Paris last year, it was soooooo amazing and Palo santo was my favorite album of 2018

The word "Sanctify" basically means "to make holy" and the songs about being in love with a religious and closeted guy. My favorite lyric is the pun "you don't have to be straight with me, I see whats underneath your mask"
Years and years made a video with iheartradio that went through each song and had them explain a little bit of the process in writing and producing each one, which sound kind of boring but it was actually a really cool video and made me appreciate them so much more. You should definitely check it out, and also watch the music videos for their songs because they are crazy and amazing and full on movie masterpieces! GOD I LOVE Years and Years!!
