I love that when TH-camrs that are audience friendly and make timestamps for their audience. This makes it so much easier for the audience to get the information they need without spending unnecessary time going over info they don't need.
HI Man, are you planning to test new Withings Nova Scanwatch ? Is Withing planning to add NFC and glucose monitoring to smartwatches. Thanks a lot... btw: best real data video on these products.
It's nice to see Withings finally offer a watch that one can read the time on in a quick glance. Their other watches have such slender low contrast hands that they are annoying and difficult to read. It seems like a lot of extra money to pay just to get a version that reads as easy as a $30 Timex.
The scanwatch is a great walkers watch, pretty accurate steps and great watch for walkers. As for going to sleep and and waking up, have had no issues. Mine detects going to sleep and waking up accurately and have had mine 3 months and no issues detecting going to sleep and wakeup times. Both scanwatch and Horizon are the same watch, just different designs. If your exercise is walking then the perfect watch. Seems most fitness watches have trouble with biking.
Can you please also make a list/report of top five accurate watches? It should include following columns : device name |step count accuracy |heart rate accuracy |.... All sensor accuracy.... |NET ACCURACY SCORE. It will be a easy choice to decide. And later you can create your own hybrid metric to summarise the accuracy. Please redirect me to it if you have already created similar report Keep up good work!

Great review! I currently have the Steel HR and I was considering switching to the Scanwatch later, but would this Scanwatch Horizon be a better choice of the 2 when its available for me to purschase? Withings whole scheme have caught me on the simplistic watch-like design while having great battery life!
You can perform an advanced oxygen saturation test by using hyperventilation and breath-hold sequentially such as in the Wim Hof breathing technique. You can briefly lower your SpO2 down to 50% with it. The overall measurement range can matter in this test, I think.
Hi Rob. Your reference for sleep is deem 2, but I checked and was discontinued, what do you recommend? It would be great to have your comments or a video on that.
Hi Rob, A review on the 8 Sleep Pod Pro would be a welcome addition. It tracks your sleep stages, heat rate, and respiration rate while sleeping all without having to wear equipment. Thanks for providing such a great channel for the community!
The normal oxygen levels should actually be between 98 and 100%. In hospital, we get a little nervous whenever a patient has a saturation below 97-96 and track it accordingly as this is actually already abnormally low and might caused by obstructed breathing etc. You can see that on the "real" oxymeter.
Their deep sleep is the combination of rem and deep. It is written in the app. So your tables need to be somehow adjusted. That's why many times the rem sleep periods are classified as deep sleep.
@@joeamerican2611 yes I understand. They can not separate rem and deep with their watch so they decided to combine it. Given that, the analysis could have been little fair to them.
As expected. I own the 38mm for more than a year now. As someone who casually workout, the health tracking is not good. In fact, it is worse than any cheaper smartbands like Xiaomi Mi Band 6. Buy this watch if you like the classic round shape design with good battery life.
Another believable review. I wouldn't get a a smartwatch without checking TQS, and all his reviews confirm my conclusion that if you're really interested in accurate HR you need an Apple Watch, a chestnut strap or Polar's Verity Sense OHR- so I got an H10 and Verity. Maybe the top Garmin and Polar watches work?
Hi Rob, many thanks for your scientific reviews, you’ve mentioned that you’ll be doing a comprehensive review of the ScanWatch Horizon in a few weeks but I can’t find it on your channel, would you please point me to where it is If it’s done? Thanks again
Your videos are highly valued. Can you put together an ECG compilation. I would like to know which devices are performing best in this area. I don't want to check my ECG and panick for no reason. Also I feel like I don't have much choice. I'm not a fan of companies like fitbit, apple and samsung who all try to lock you into your brand. Lastly what brand has your favourite software for accessing information about the stats
Thank you so much for making these videos. I tend to do as much research as I can when buying things like this so you are helping me out a lot. I'm curious about the most recent edition. I know that they added temperature readings. Do you think you might be able to review the new one soon?
Hey, love these videos! Is the better measurements on the horizon vs the normal scanwatch in weight lifting simply a software issue fixed by updates or is it because of different sensors that withings might have used? Would love a scanwatch as my apple watch 5 is getting really scratched since I dropped it a few times when taking it off charge (clumsy) and the battery life frankly quite crap, but am also a powerlifter as a hobby. The measurements are a nice bonus so xd. Thanks!
Rob, I enjoy your work. I have an Oura Gen.2, Gen.3, Fenix 6X Pro and EverSleep devices. The Oura Gen.3 and Fenix are my daily drivers. Happy to provide data, if it helps with your evaluations.
I have the Fenix 6X and I really, really, really wish it tracked naps. I often feel the Fenix, and other Garmins, are less accurate than Withings or Fitbit.
I agree, it would be a nice feature. The Oura ring does track naps, it's pretty neat to see the nap appear on your daily dashboard when you wake up and refresh.
Nice video and great details! I am testing the Withings ScanWatch right now and going on day 50. How were you able to get the ScanWatch Horizon model so quickly before anyone else...? Did Withings send you the watch for free?
After half a month of ownining it: 1) They don't show you a plot of SPO2, even if you set it to measure all night long. The Sleep O2 monitoring is really one of their selling points with the long battery life due to with you give up the smart-watch features. But no, they just give you OK/Not OK type of measurement for the entire night; 2) I woke up, took an ECG and went back to sleep... Yet, despite me manually pushing and holding a button on the watch for 30secs, their algorithm still did not catch the awakening and considered it to be non-interrupted sleep... 🤦♂ 3) The ECG basically tells you whether you are dying or not. Anything inbetween is "inconclusive". So, overall, you mostly just have the mediocre (according to Rob's study) heart rate monitor on a classic-looking regular dumb watch for $500. I am considering returning it.
I will add to this that I measured SPO2 on a trans-atlantic flight at different elevatations, and it barely showed any decrease at all: it went from 98% on the ground to something like 95-96% at the highest altitude of the flight (which is probably within its accuracy uncertainty bounds anyways).
Hi:) I am waiting for interview number 4 with the Withings team about the operation and accuracy / reliability of the ECG. can you tell me when it will come out? congratulations oer the videos you make, always interesting.
Is it possible to use this watch for monitoring SpO2 and Heart Rate during sleep an issue a (in best case: loud ) alarm if one of these values drops below under a certain threshold?
Nice videos and scientific details- very much appreciated quality. The polar h10 chest strap be used to monitor sleep quality. Could you do a video on that please?
Can you tell us your opinion about versa 2 ? It's old but does it have the accuracy of other models ? Smart alarm is a feature I'm looking for. Any suggestions?
If you want a runners watch, then it's Garmin. If you want a walkers watch and this is your exercise routine, the the scanwatch as its one of the more accurate step tracking watches. The HR Sport was rubbish, but withings have really upped their game with the scanwatch and Horizon, miles better in every way than the HR sport
I sensed a bit of a confirmation bias throughout this video. The accuracy results presented are underwhelming in my opinion and do not justify the overall positive sentiment. It is a good looking watch though.
Hi Rob Love your channel and methods. I bought this watch, it is beautyful. However, on the crosstrainer it's close to useless showing 96 bpm instead of 138 bpm measured with the HFC 10. As no external heart rate monitors can be attached, this issue can't be fixed. Further, the data can't be easily be exported (only via zip - download resulting in huge json files). Verdict: useless even for moderate users like myself. I will have to go back to an (ugly) Garmin, since they have resolved both issues!
@@TheDrabbb Thanks, I have the Gen 6, and as far I heard from reviewers who had the Gen 5 too and compared them, they say the sensors are more accurate with the Gen 6.

I do wish the sleep tracking wasn't so terrible. Scanwatch gjves me over 3hrs of deep sleep and 59 nights with the Dreem 2 showed an avg of 57min. It also is not good at detecting wake ups throughout the night.
