  • This video shows all the steps we did to make a dozen wood cheese slicer boards. This is an easy woodworking project and makes great gifts. We are just a hobby woodworker team so there are probably more expert approaches but hey it shows how simple of a wood project this is.
    The wood we just purchased on amazon but the hardware we purchased from the website below;
    www.cheeseslicing.com
    Also, most of the equipment we used are really entry level and are from WEN and their website is www.wenproducts.com

    Very nice job! I found your explanation of the jointer vs the planer to be one of the best I have heard. Many folks do not know the difference. The boards look excellent.

    Where do you buy your cheese slicer hardware? We can’t seem to find that style online or here in Canada. Thanks in advance.

      I got the hardware from www.cheeseslicing.com for one of the projects and I got the hardware from Rockler for another project....both worked great.

    Just curious, you are putting end grain on top and bottom. Wouldn't that make it more susceptible to water damage and create a lot of sealing problems in the finished product?
    I would like to make a few of these as Christmas gifts. Have you had any feedback on the longevity of them this way?

      I have been making them like this for over a year and no issue to date. Thanks for pointing that out though something to consider on future ones. Thanks!

      Thanks for the suggestion. We do not have one and we also have some challenges with space. But need to look more into it. Thanks!

    Do you always wear gloves while routing.

    • @retirementlife4us485

      No, I only wore them as I knew I was going to be far away from the bit the whole time and it just felt like I had a better grip on the board. But I generally don't use them realizing not a good outcome if they get caught. Thanks for the reminder!

      @@retirementlife4us485 I worked at the post office a long time ago and in another galaxy. When anthrax struck several years ago the PO began to issue plastic/latex/ rubber gloves. I do not wear them then or now as my hands sweat so bad I have puddles of water in my gloves. These are generally considered safe around machinery as they will rip right off and not pull your hand in. However, I had a stupid boss who did not like me so much. The feeling was mutual. She was black and I am white. I was the only male on a certain machine and the only white on the machine. Can you see where this is going? I did not wear gloves. ALL of the black women on the machine wore gloves. The super walks up to me and asks ever so nicely why I did not have on gloves. I pointed to a picture right in front of me and her of a gloved hand with a big slash mark through it. You know, the kind that means NO turning, NO speeding, NO stopping and in this case NO gloves. Of course as I have said there is little possibility of them causing a problem but she did not know that. She did know the sign said not to use them. I was not using them but all the black women were. She said nothing else to me ............................... or them and walked away.
