I’m pretty blown away by how smooth and economical Kris’s form is. I’ve done frame-by-frame breakdowns of his shot, comparing it to my own, and it’s helped me improve a lot.

Do you think he bends/unbends his elbow a bit ?

@Bowling XP ! If you look at the side-view of his shot at 1:52 you can see a tiny elbow bend but generally his arm is dead straight. I think it's that cupped wrist that gets his fingers underneath, gives him tons of leverage so he can generate that snapping motion down into the lanes. I actually just posted a couple slow-motion videos on my channel (I'm not a youtuber, I uploaded them for my coach) where I was working on "snapping" the ball down into the lanes. By comparison, I bend my elbow way too much. It still works ok for generating rev rate, but my ball speed takes a big hit.

@@baTonkaTruck Ok, then i saw correctly as well. You are right, he does most of the work with his wrist but that tiny bit of elbow also helps. Unfortunately i can't do it. (yet anyway). I saw your videos. Yours is a bit more but not too much. At least as far as i can see from a rear shot. Thanks ! (btw i do have a small channel with bowling experiments, you might find interesting videos there :) )

Great form, pure release, and I think his mental game is second to none. He seems to have the ability to step up and make great shots when needed most. A lot of the top bowlers bowl great and then in the 8th or 9th frame they make a crucial mistake and lost the match. I've hardly ever seen Prather beat himself like that. Really great bowler.

Kris, to me, stays committed to his shot all the way through the pindeck. 🤔

Does he do something with his shoulder at the release? I feel like he creates a motion from shoulder to the elbow and then to the wrist. Like a whip
