We listened to this performance in a college music class and I found myself unable to think about anything else for the rest of the day. I just had to come back to hear it again. What a beautiful performance by two incredibly gifted players, showcasing such a unique and melodic instrument! I can see why this was considered appropriate music to be played for kings historically - it certainly makes me feel transported back in time!

as someone who is half eritrean and half african american, i am absolutely enamoured by all of the traditional music forms that comes from mama africa. mali/senegal, eritrea/ethiopia, morocco (amazigh peoples), and timbuktu have some of the most lovely traditional music forms by far.
