    I love all your videos! I gave the video on the dog barking in the crate with the jingle and light tapping but it hasn't seemed to solve the issue. I think maybe my 10 week old mini aussie is feeling a little bit defiant just like it was mentioned in this video. Are there any tips you have for a defiant puppy? It seems that my puppy is going through a phase of not wanting to be closed in on anymore. The first few nights of evening crate training were doing great. The daytime is a work in progress.Any tips would be great!

    You ask is your pup meeting your expectations. Been 17 years since I raised a dog. Put down our last one a year ago. Had three all live into there teens and wife was finally ready for another. Anyway. Doing well I thought. Seeing how yours is doing, she is under achieving. Just going into week three of having her. I do work with her throughout the day. Training my wife and 16 year old to be consistent is harder. I think all three are deaf but respond well with food.

      Exactly my point. My puppy would never stay in that krate when it's open. My puppy sounds like it's literally on fire and burning to death when she is in her crate. She literally screams herself to sleep. Wakes up, and starts all over.

    • @judymiller5154
      @judymiller5154 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@niner4life.155 clearly she hasn't been started from the beginning steps - like PLENTY of exercise then feed her meals in her crate, add a high value chew or toy, while she's busy just close and open the door many times. You can teach her "wait" other places and eventually close her in the crate and whrn she "notices" use the "wait" for gradually more time before releasing and treating.
      If you just closed her in and walked away, she has practiced screaming a lot and now you have extra work to break that habit. But you can do it! 👍

    I am so lucky that I just got my puppy a week ago. It is getting close to the time of year that I can leave my back door open all the time which makes things like potty training and exercise easier. Great videos. We have a new puppy coming next weekend. Our 14-year-old Corgi was trained well and with treats but we could never ween her from the treats. She would do nothing without a treat, including walking. How do you ween treats over time?

    • @aureliaanderson9156
      @aureliaanderson9156 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A good way is to show them that the treat comes later, like after they do something good, and then (if it’s a trick), then do the same hand motion for sitting or something like that, so it seems like you have the treat, then give it after

    • @Tipperary757
      @Tipperary757 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Need to wait them out, takes lots of patience + time but will work. Don't get upset. Called "extinguishing" a behavior. Then variable reinforcement works best - meaning you don't always reward dog, just special times (no pattern to treats that dog can anticipate + hold out for).

    Hey McCanns! Love your channel. So, my question is about doggie playpens. If we are planning on using a crate and crate-training, where does a puppy playpen come in (what age?) We have a very open floor plan, and our kitchen and big living room/hallway are all together with doorways that are too big to put baby gates. If we utilize a playpen, do we use that from the beginning or do we introduce it later after crate training? I plan on using the house line, but when I'm cooking dinner, etc. would a playpen be a good option, in the kitchen? Thanks in advance!

    Please explain why you use a cage where the dog can't even sit without having to bend the neck... Especially when you also say that for no good reason it spends almost the entire day because you don't give a f**k

      You must be watching a different video. Dog needs to lay down in crate, given a chew toy. Not larger so they don't soil their crate. Dog is not put in crate UNTIL exercised to being tired + potty completed. Hours lessen as dog matures quickly. You seem to be looking for a target for your anger. The pandemic is hard for everyone -- hope you feel better.
