    Bought a brand new 2023 Ford Expedition Max Limited. $80k car. Nothing but problems. Engine replaced at 16,000 miles. Transmissions clunks. Fumes entering the cabin frequently. A true lemon. They owe me pain and suffering!

      My Dad bought a 2019 F350 Lemon. Nothing but issues, had to get a lawyer involved. Eventually was able to have ford buy it back. It's a shitty situation to be in. Document Document Document.

    It technically COULD damage the seal because the rust will get knocked off and smoothed out when it slides. The paint would lock those rust particles in place effectively creating sandpaper on the slide. Having said that, it is still kind of chicken shit of them not covering it. They get paid for the warranty work.

    Its possible the paint had something to do with it but they have to prove it caused it to deny warranty. That is supposed to be a smooth machined surface the part that actually rides in the seal isn't the the rusty part of the yoke. The outer boot is only for dust the sealing part is more near the aluminum of the t-case

      In hindsight, I suppose it was mostly my fault. It's easy to get worked up over small things like this. Was under the truck today to check on the new seal. Not a drop leaking anymore. Also checked the torque on the 14mm flange bolts. Nothing loosened up. Good Repair, Cheers

    They are obviously looking for a way to avoid doing the warranty work. It was leaking before you painted it. As you said. But also you never paint a rotating machined seal surface. The paint interferes with the seal, its going to leak.

    • @OldSoulMillennial
      @OldSoulMillennial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, in hindsight this was likely my fault. Was under the truck today, replacement seal is holding well.

      @OldSoulMillennial why would they. Warranty pays 1/3 the time it actual takes to fix it. If they paid the proper time they wouldn't have issues fixing the cars

      Not sure they would turn away warranty work. Dealers make a butt load off it. Must be true what you did voided warranty. Bummer. Lessons we learn.

      They look at avoiding warranty work right from when they engineer it to last very little longer than the warranty period.

    Not only is ford one of the worst vehicle manufacturers. They are one of the guiltiest for not recalling not looking after customers and denying claims within or just outside warranty. Their only goal folks is to keep you returning to the service centre and the showroom floor. If they can deny your repair they can walk you right back up to the showroom floor. I’m convinced they do that then push the repair through and sell it used. Awful company.

    Unfortunately, this is becoming a more common trend with the dealerships, just refusing to do their jobs after you buy a $60,000 pick up truck.

      You do realize if they do the work on the front end and the manufacturer denies the warranty after the fact, the dealership has to pay for the part and the mechanic doesn't get paid. Not a dealership problem when it comes to warranty work

    Did the product you sprayed haven an etching primer component? Solvents on seals can't be good.

    Stretch logic and rules to not honor warranty.
    Oh, transfer case shift motor and actuator in lieu of good old fashioned shift lever in cab. Search "check 4x4" and "shift delayed move vehicle" coming up on the dash screen, maybe not on your fairly new truck but possibly 100,000 miles or more from now.

    • @OldSoulMillennial

      I wish they made the manual 4x4 shift an option. Had it on my 05 f150 and loved it.
      To prevent seizing, I turn the hubs on and off every time I wash the rig. I try to engage the 4x4 at least a few times a year to keep that motor free.
      I wash the underbelly good after every salt event. Makes a big difference in corrosion prevention and general vehicle health.

    I had the exact same leak on my 2021 F-350 7.3 . I noticed it when I was changing the oil . Turned out they replaced the whole driveshaft assembly & seal under warranty . They said the factory driveshaft was not true & caused the seal to leak. This was a year ago & so far no leaks. What they told you was complete Bullshit ! I’m just letting you know if you replace just the seal it might not take care of your issue if it was a defective driveshaft like in my case .

    • @OldSoulMillennial
      @OldSoulMillennial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. How many miles did you have on the truck when you noticed the leak, and how did they determine it was a "not true" driveshaft? I'm guessing they removed the driveshaft and put it on a balancer? I would have expected you to feel vibrations while driving if that was the case.

  • @547Rick

    Well that sucks! Some delaerships just plain suck and it not just Ford dealerships. I personally would have not painted the shaft but would have used Fluid Film.

    Did you contact Ford? I had a problem with my Toyota. A sensor went bad and was out of warranty by a few years. Toyota made the repair as a customer courtesy.

    Bought a new transit 250 in 2021 and just turned to 40k km. The driver side rear hub broke! Cause the rotor damaged. Dealer ordered hub part took over one month and warranty coverage is an abusive argument. Stay away from Ford! Nice looking with very poor quality!

    I hate to agree with the dealership, but I do. If you didn't let it cure for days and didn't cover the seal in tape before spraying, the solvents in the paint could weaken the seal.

      If it was a major repair, I would have likely tried another dealership. For this, not worth the stress, aggravation and lost time. Put the new seal in myself over the weekend. I also feel that the $515 quote was a scumbag price. Can't stand dealership service.

    That is BULL$HIT! That dealer is looking for ANY reason to not honor the warranty. I have painted the underside of my vehicles for many years.Ford techs have often stated that it's a good idea, keeps everything cleand and deters rust. Last trade in got excellent return because of the underside.
