Wow! I'm surprised by this really good performance, one of the best I've heard. Here, he doesn’t have that small, compact German sound he has on other recordings. Certainly a full-bodied clarinet sound, with a great range of tone and dynamics. Technically on top of everything, which you'd expect from Leister. Nice interpretation as well. This is a piece where it's difficult to find a performance that's satisfying overall. I like some sections of some performances, but not others. However, this does the job.
