After constantly being on the road for the past 3 years I am thinking about staying in one place for a few months. Sometimes I miss having a home base and a daily routine. The past days I thought about this a lot and I am actually thinking about moving to BGC, Philippines for a while. Let me explain...

You should meet with youtubers who made the Philippines there home and lives in BGC like Making It Happen Vlog {he's Austrian}, The Juicy Vlog {couple from UK} and Mergim Vlogs {also from UK} they bought condo's in BGC. They might help you with your decision in making Philippines your second home.

What ever makes you happy. Home is in Germany with mum. But your second home base for 2 or 3 would be good
This is exactly what Mergim vlogs has done, settling down in a Condo in BGC. It is indeed a no brainer for channel growth, especially in BGC where there is high interest in foreign vloggers that settle there. Do videos around BGC for sure as the views are consistently high.
Your thinking process with deciding where you can have a temporary home base was very logical. You thought of all angles. I admit when I’ve been following and watching a YT channel that are done in the Philippines, I am always looking forward to their next vlog. But it seems once the TH-camr moves on and visits another country, I am not as interested in their vlogs in the other countries. I really try and watch though to continue to support that channel but sometimes I am just not as interested and I don’t watch all their vlogs. Philippines would be the smart choice for now if you want your views to continue to increase. 😌🇵🇭
So True....same feeling here.....I follow these you tubers to feel how and what they truly think of the different places and people in the Philippines...be good or bad....somehow you will learn a lot from the vloggers....from their point of view....Filipinos can benefit from all their suggestions or viewpoints....specially the Department of Tourism...
And it makes the views drop, engagement drop.

Ken, Philippines is a good choice. BGC is a nice place to live whether permanent or temporary. If you like to grow your YT channel, Philippines is the best country among asian neighbors. WHY? Manila has huge YT audience and people are warm and friendly. Also, language is not a barrier. Everyone speak English. Filipinos love vloggers who showcase and admire the beauty of the Philippines. KEN, for an example is MERGIM VLOGS, he said he was in Bangkok for 2 years and said, he edit his videos 4-6 hours and the views is low, so he decided to moved to BGC and made his channel grow…

Great idea to settle somewhere in Ceby area and after a while you will pick up and will continue to travel same way as I did in. 2018 till now and living here as well as continue to travel once every couple of month I go for 2-3 weeks to different places still and loving this lifestyle.

Moin Ken, Cebu City or Mactan(Lapu-Lapu) would be a great home base, as it is an international air hub and not as crowded and expensive as the Manila area. MFG aus Bremerhaven, soon in the Phils. :-)

There will always be good side and bad side with your decision to stay in the Philippines. They key is to fully embrace the imperfections of the Philippines or any other country you choose to stay in for you to be able to adapt more quickly. Also, it's always better to have another source of income aside from youtube coz youtube earnings is not fix and constant.
Yeah better stay in the Philippines to gain more viewers and subscribers. Because the Filipinos support very well with the foreigners who roam around the Philippines. You can ask mergim regarding condo in bgc where he stay in I think the price there is cheaper than other condos.
Yes Ken, having a base is an awesome idea. Lot's of bloggers like Making it Happen, Juicy Blogs are now based in BGC, Mergim just recently join the squad.. some made Siargao as their base like Eight Miles from Home and Kulas from Becoming a Filipino are now in Cateel from Cagayan de Oro... Travel Escape also plans to make Philippines as his base. We will be happy to count you as one of them. 😃🍻

Definitely if you decide to stay in Manila, BGC would be the top choice - clean, safe, and with all modern amenities. But if you would like a balance between modern city living and a laid back life (with access to great beaches, islands, & mountains and great mobility to any part of the Philippines), Cebu would be the top choice.

Ken, you have answered your own question. Besides it is only 2 months. I wouldn't consider that moving in. From your title I thought you mean more than 1 year. Philippines is the right choice because it is still new and fresh for you.

Yes, make Manila as your homebase.
The main reason is some countries are not english speaking. Eg indonesia, vietnam, thailand. If you speak indonesian, 100k sub per month maybe.

Yes, Stay in the Philippines, Christmas is so amazing, You can buy any Condominiun unit for you to have a house to stay, There at BGC there are available Condominium, Just enjoy and have more than in the Philippines.

visa is extendable but visa costs get much more expensive if u stay greater than 3 months- you need to buy an ID card

Try to visit the provinces here in Luzon. Tanay area. Batangas. Baguio sagada or mountain province. Quezon province. Bgc it's a expensive place to live with but I could say most safest area. Makati as well Eastwood city. Ortigas is a nice place to live as well

My answer is… think twice and don’t be quick to jump to conclusions. Being in a country in just a short time will not give you all points to consider in order to settle down in a country of choice. If you ask me, I would prefer Malaysia.

I watched other foreign vlogger that is their observation their channel rising when they are in the Philippines. The truth beyond that is you surely get support from us Filipinos if we know that you're promoting our country by your vlog and we saw that you love our country, you'll never know how much love and support you will get from us.

Let me give you my perspective as a Filipino viewer. I have followed a lot of vloggers that have visited the Philippines and when they left, I found myself not watching them anymore. I continued to find others like you that are now currently in the Philippines. And if you leave and go to other Asian countries, I might look for others that are in the Philippines. I can’t speak for others but other Asian countries aren’t in my radar at the moment. What interest me first and foremost is Philippines, then European countries, and North America. In fact, this coming December, my family and I are going to your country. We’ll fly in to Berlin, then Dresden, Nuremberg, and fly out from Munich.
Anyway, if you want your channel to grow, stay in the Philippines for now. Stay in BGC and just like Mergim Vlogs, who also came from Thailand, decided to travel in the Philippines, have settled in BGC and his channel continues to grow.
In my opinion, the best place to grow your channel is in the Philippines because like you said, every one speaks English even in the remove places and provinces in the Philippines. If you leave and notice that Philippine viewers disappears, either come back, or go to Europe.

Me too , I used to watch a lot of foreign vloggers that went here in the PH but when they left the country sometimes I'm not interested anymore , because my goal now is to support all the foreign vloggers that are here now in the Philippines , It makes me happy when they're enjoying the country.
I agree. Since we were a colony of the US, we prefer videos on the US and its allies, mostly English-speaking countries too. So if you move to Thailand, Malaysia or Vietnam, we tend to lose interest and look for other vloggers based in the Phils or North America.
Yes, move in BGC like Mergim vlogs Juicy Vlogs. Mergim i just start watching him, but The Juicy vlogs i watch them 3 yrs ago with Making it Happen.
The Juicy vlog George and Lucy had their engagement in Boracay , got their condo in BGC she get pregnant and went to UK to deliver her baby and they just came back to the Philippines with their baby Koda, very nice couple.
Hey Ken, some of the most views took place in the Philippines due to overseas TH-cam followers like myself in NYC. If you do stay, there are plenty of topics that you can cover, ie. Food tasting, historical sites, new modern cities being built, ie. New Clark city. I think you will definitely grow your channel in the Philippines. If you decide to make this your homebase there will be pros and cons. But the pros heavily outweigh the cons mostly on the ability to communicate with the people and our people are very friendly the cons will be the traffic, internet speed and food. But if you plan well your cons are easily addressed it just requires planning. My main suggestion is to establish a community of friends here in the Philippines and by friends I do not mean limit it to just expats establish friends with Filipinos. Fyi a lot of foreign tourist are likes the Philippine foods such as adobo, sisig, caldereta, lechon,halo halo etc..Philippine foods are unique & delicious. the food in Philippines is not a problem by foreigners here in Philippines because if they like other foods there have many many international restaurants in the Philippines so many to choose from and there have traffic in Philippines because there have a lots of ongoing construction of Big Infra projects all over Metro Manila sich as new MRT, Lrt express way, long elevated roads including subway train. This will be a big relief in traffic once finished.
I love your honesty. If you need to grow your audience yes PH is your answer. But the accommodations are quite expensive so you need to research for best price.
Ken please visit Makati area i know you may like it too Metro Manila have a lot of modern places to explore, please continue with your goal. Pilipinos are very supportive for foreign youtubers sittle here in Philippines.

Yah thats good idea, you can rent to own condo, try to contact mike of making it happened vlog or mergin vlog ask some opinion from them, bcg can be your base home & travel anywhere in philippines. Filipino loves you & its nice to know that you starting to love the life in philippines . You can collaborate with them & become friends. You can extend your visa up to 3 years without leaving the country , about a home base Thats what exactly what happen to Mergim vlogs, a British he is vlogging in Thailand and he felt his channel is not growing, then went to Philippines, his views and subscriber skyrocketed and hola now living and renting a condo in Uptown BGC, watch his story and videos, he is also vlogging about available condos in BGC, check it out

Whatever your heart desire Ken , we will support you, but I gotta tell you making the Ph as your home based would be a great decision , And you should bring your family here too next year on summer from feb-may that's the best time to go on island hopping and beach glamping

Right now Philippines is the home base of travel vloggers. Most of the established foreign vloggers are residing in BGC.
