Fun fact: Grade 8 (or metric 12.9) are not permitted on fairground rides (roller coasters etc). They will hydrogen embrittle over time and with a yield threshold close to their ultimate strength there's not really any easy way to detect that a bolt is about to fail (as opposed to a bolt that has stretched). The rate of embrittlement somewhat scales with the stress on the bolt. If a grade 8 is torqued to the equivalent max torque for a grade 5 the rate of embrittlement is low but then you could have just used a Grade 5 bolt . . . except in the case where the load on the bolt might have occasional spikes. The grade 8 has the margin to survive those events. For a trailer hitch application grade 8 makes sense.
I love this channel so much! I think it is TH-cam's hidden treasure when it comes to nerdy, high-quality quality, and charming automotive TH-cam channels!!
Happy to have more reading recommendations John! My mother kindly gifted me a copy of "The Unfair Advantage" which I brought up at your recommendation. I'm nearly finished and the book was awesome, so thank you. The fleet looks good too! Cheers. PS: if it ever comes around I'd love a look at Matt's 86! That thing looks rad.
I saw a well work first gen 928 on the back of a trailer today. It looked straight other than the oxidized paint and duct tape holding down the hatch. If it wasn’t in Georgia I would have thought you had added another one to your collection.
The Hummer H2 wheels look sweet on the Suburban. Just gotta come up with a centercap solution, maybe the Duramax center caps?
It is a wonderful thing and also a very dangerous thing to learn how huge the Holley umbrella is…
Towing without a tempature Guage is just reckless! I love it! Just my style!

I feel like you might have made this video after seeing my tow buttercup to the track😂. I didn't think it was that sketchy.
