Every "bosses" we met in this game ended up being killed by the same player, with the same shitty stolen crossbow, in one hugely lucky hit.
There was a long period of time between the "last boss" and the one before, like two careers had past.
When we finally faced him, we were all about to die. Nothing was working out.
As a list ditched effort we all looked at each others and screamed : "The boss-slayer! Hurry!" The shooter dropped his guns and his powerful magical shit. Fished for the old crappy crossbow, and fired.
Ten after ten after ten after ten.
That crossbow was then donated to a temple of Ulric.

I like the concepts of chaos being this thing that wouldn't be a problem if people were just good to each other and not complete animals. The idea that "we wouldn't be at constant risk of destruction if you all would just act sensible!" That creates so much potential for stories! Philosophical, magical, humorous even! I love it!

It is a mechanic for story telling and, honestly, I'd rather be playing with my kid and teaching him about love, hope, and faith using the game rather than him playing it elsewhere and getting God only knows what kind of ideas. Good game manners start at the home table ya know.

I disagree with your comment about the difference between Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, there is no difference. It's just that you're not the legendery lord on his giffon wielding a magical hammer, you're the nameless nobody standing in the third row of spearmen trying desperately not to soil himself as some mutated monstosity charges your battle line.
You're in the same world as these great heros, you'll just never be on their level, at best you'll become an officer/specialist under their employ.

I know old video, but I'll comment nonetheless. My group sometimes dabbles in WH, and we had a guy who had never played. His character was a sharpshooter, he leaned real heavy into his rifle, accuracy, spent all his money on equipment, all that jazz. His literal first roll of the game - fumble shooting it - gun blows up in his face, I think blinded him. He throws it in the canal and never played WH again. It was hilarious, I don't think I could have defined a more "Warhammer" moment then that.

I had a D&D box of one version or another, but didn't get to play it except alone, as a friend's mom was of the "no D&D (but absolutely anything else is ok)" camp as well. So we played WEG Star Wars, Shadowrun 2nd edition, Rifts, and Warhammer FRP 1st edition. Eventually I think we got exiled because of the content of WHFRP...but after a talk with his parents and letting them read the books and observe that no one was summoning demons or worshipping the devil, we were allowed back.
Funnily enough, we played 1st edition right alongside 2nd edition for awhile. Love this game. We played from the rulebook alone (for some of our games, others we used some other material but for SOME of our games we only used the rulebook) for well over a decade. I accquired a first edition rulebook on eBay awhile ago and getting set to introduce my kids to it (they've been playing 40k since the launch of 8th, and on and off we've roleplayed a few sessions here and there of various rpgs).
Age of Sigmar takes place after the destruction of the world in Warhammer FRP. It's getting its own rpg, not sure if its going to use the same system as WHFRP, which is currently in its 4th edition being done by Cubicle 7 as the successor to 2nd edition, and pretending that 3rd edition never existed.

The best weapon the Ork army has is in 40k: the Shokk Attakk Gun
"An insane, super huge gun carried exclusively by Big Meks. This rotating monstrosity sucks up Snotlings through a tube and then somehow fires them via a warp rift into the target (literally). The poor Snotling sees chaos daemons during his travel and leaves the tunnel deranged and completely apeshit crazy. Crazy enough in fact that he will rip a Space Marine's two hearts out from inside his armour"

I'm just about to start DMing the 4th edition that came out about a year after this video was released. Got a Bawd, Coachman, Slayer and Apothecary living in a tavern while taxation riots are going on outside.
You talked a lot about the ideas of fighting chaos etc, but honestly I think WhFRP provides a fantastic method for urban campaigns as well. Things like gangs, yobbery, riots and similar urban tensions are legitimately tense with the degree to which your character is vulnerable. As you say, a trained greatsword can raid a village and if they're not careful or get unlucky, they can be walking (or crawling) away with serious injuries.

The core set of third edition is pretty cheap now. It's alot of fun and honestly I wish it had been more popular. I always thought the career system was pretty cool. Helped flesh out all my players characters. I personally still pull warhammer monsters against my players in 5e. Nothing like a war hydra to shake up a party.

I'm running a regular Roll20 campaign in my own campaign setting at the moment, and I've gained a lot from your concise and experienced repartee on these episodes. I've actually never played Warhammer, but this episode definitely makes me want to pick it up. Hope to enjoy a lot more fantastic content from you guys!

Ran some friends through a WFRP 2nd ed game for the better part of a year. There was a brothel full of undead girls run by Slaaneshi cultists involved, and one of the PC's dwarfs ended up growing a tail. Damn good times. I miss that game, and that group.

Humble RPG Book Bundle WARHAMMER bring me here! And I decide to give it a try. I'm the gm-wanabe of a small group of my fellow-nerd-friend player. We love to face some challenge together. Tired of ever-repeated digital game. And I was into MTG and other physical game before so I bring table top game to them. Then I learned about RPG. But sadly there's no GM or DM or even any physical game shop nearby. I try so many rule set of other free RPG but it's hard for me who are inexperience to create the believable and enjoyable adventure. So I was looking for a good RPG with solid setting I could start with. And this video encourage me to give it a try with this huge pile of PDF book bundle. wish me luck.

Warhammer Fantasy's Old World was destroyed in the End Times, Chaos won. Later the winds of magic each formed a world and some characters such as Sigmar and Nagash awoke as Gods and somehow repopulated each of the new worlds, called the Mortal Realms. Age of Sigmar takes place a couple thousand years afterwards when Chaos is about to destroy the Mortal Realms and win again.

Yeah, they got me with Warhammer 40K. Which I still love. I would put together models, but only the ones my dad got me, which were always WWII fighters and bombers which he liked. I forget who got it for me, but someone got me a Rhino and some Space Marines which I loved. Had no idea what they were used for. Thought they were just cool models to look at. When I found the Horus Heresy books around 2008ish I was hooked all over again. Still haven't ever played a game since people out where I live are as ignorant of the existence of Warhammer as they are convinced D&D will invoke Satan somehow.

i've recently been introduced to warhammer through total war and i really like it. i love the grittiness, the realism (with things like practical armor and guns), and politics- the things i feel are missing in DND, or is at least a different flavor. the only things i don't like are the landsknecht aesthetic and the fact that dwarves and skaven are borderline sci fi races (seriously, helicopters and ray guns?)

Cool video! Humble Bundle had a really great promotion for a ton of WH: Fantasy roleplay 2nd Ed ebooks and it even came with the 1st ed book. I've yet to read or play it, but sounds like a cool system!
Rumors are that an Age of Sigmar RPG system for 2018 is coming. Given your Spelljammer video, I think you would like AOS since the setting basically became that. I had never played Warhmmaer before AOS, but I'm looking back to the origins and sources of the setting. They're both pretty cool in their own right.

Would really like you guys to do a video on 'best modules ever', or 'most influential modules ever'.
You could do stuff like 'keep on the border lands', and 'Death Frost Doom' (Old and new), and talk about what was so good about these modules, and how you would update them now (keep needs a bit more of a 'meta' tie in, so the evil alter is activly assembling monsters and chaning their behavior.
Would be very cool to see.

Used to love Warhammer RPG... best moment was when the mage hadn't successful identified a potion - thought it was a potion of flying and gave it to the assassin... Later the assassin was trapped in the battlements of a castle with guards coming in from every side so swigged the potion and leapt of the wall... at this point he realises that the potion wasn't Fly... "Never mind I'll land in the moat" he said... at which point GM revealed the potion was a potion of Waterwalking

I played this game many moons ago. I was an Elven bounty hunter. I hid my career from my human counterparts, who wouldn't tolerate my presence in their lands, because secretly I was searching for some hidden treasure. I survived many fights, often with less hitpoints than my party... I eventually decided to have a voluntary lobotomy to stop the voices in my head. Took one step out of the hospital and got lynched by an angry mob who thought I was a heretic. Best game ever.

3rd edition Warhammer was not without it's faults but I really love the dice mechanic it uses. It's the basis for the current Star Wars RPG system. And honestly having cards for all the actions players make makes game play run super fast. Some folks found buy in expensive but included 2d minis and stat block cards for almost every npc, monster or villain in each adventure. So... I didn't mind that. The line was in serious need of better editing though. Yeesh
