This song was written in a different time about a different struggle, but it’s focus on the deaths of innocent people and an oppression that has endured for far too long is heart-breakingly relevant today.

I'm partial to Bad Wolves' version... the story that goes with that one is pretty crazy too.
This version was well done plus dedicated to BLM. Her voice sounds good even though it's basically clean (no vocal processors). "Zombie" as a cover is o.k.- there are plenty of other great Cranberries songs to choose.

She has a very good ear to sound true to the original. Very good rendition that’s solid.
Not to mention her voice can hit some incredible notes. Very unique band with an oldschool metal sound.
She definitely does a great job. She really nails the yodel like ohs and ending to some of the phrases. The only thing I wish she did (which I haven't really heard her do in the songs of theirs i've listened to) is add vocal fry/ distortion to the zom in zombie. She has a very clean opera voice which works great in power metal

Holy hell. This song is way more technically simple than what Unleash The Archers does on a daily basis. But the look of determination and respect on Brittney's face as the intro players... just incredible. "I will not fuck this up. I will do this right and pay respect and make a statement of this." Just incredible. The effort and respect shown speak volumes.

This was a great cover, Brittney Slayes and Unleash The Archers.

This song is just so heartbreaking that I'm still crying and the song ended several minutes ago.
I think Dolores O'Riordan would have appreciated the cover, although Dolores's version is still the best.
Their is a very deep ache in Dolores's voice that Brittney doesn't quite get to, can't really get to, although she got pretty damn close.
But the song was written by Dolores and it was about her Ireland.
All the conflicts and violence that went on there for so long.
So she had the heartbreak in her voice already, naturally, and it's not easy to bring that heartache to your voice if you're covering the song and maybe haven't lived it.
I love this version, though, don't get me wrong.
The profound heartache and the cracks in Dolores's voice are nearly impossible to duplicate, for anyone.
I just really like how "stripped down" Brittney is in this video:
No makeup.
(Or very little.)
Plain clothes.
Downplaying any sexuality.
Nothing to detract attention.
It's just all about the song.
As it should be.
And very definitely a strong tribute, both to the original point of the song, but also to the Black Lives Matter campaigns everywhere.

Cried like a little baby while listening to this. And let me explain my story to you why this is. (Backstory, my mom was an alcoholic and punched me both physically and mentally everyday.)
0:46 My had hang low everyday as i went to school (14 years old) knowing i had to do everything for my mom for her to even survive, like cooking food and cleaning and stuff after school.
0:58 I was scared to talk with my teachers or anyone/anything about my mom hurting me in all kinds of ways (punching/stabbing with knife)
1:08 "but you see, its not me, its not my, family".. I tried to lie to myself that its not my mother, its a stranger that is hurting me. Its the alcohol that is controling her and not a part of my family.
1:14 "in your head, in your head, they are fighting".. My mom was a wonderful person without the alcohol and terrible with it. And in her head as she was drinking, they where fighting with her sobor self and alcoholic self and the acoholic side always won.
1:32 "In your head, in your head, zombie, zombie" She became a zombie, she lost her job, her family, her husband, everything to alcohol, and rather become a zombie then take care of it. I left her the same moment we became homeless and rather take care of myself homeless than with her, blaming me that it was my fault.
Im 29 this day and im pretty well (but has a lot of depression from my childhood as you can understand). I thank you all that read this little short story about me and wish you all the well!!

I'm proud of you man keep it up and don't let it get to you I've been abused and bullied all my life I've only just recently learned to look in front of me instead of the ground I'm Agnostic so I never once prayed or anything took drugs and alcohol just to numb everything have been clean and sober for five years but my trust in humanity won't ever be the same but I am trying to be the best me I can be and I'm even by little day by day regaining that little bit I have lost
My father was an alcoholic. One day he came with an ax towards me. I don't know if he would've hit me or not, but it doesn't matter. I punched him and cut his lip. From that day on he never put his hands on me. He was a gentle soul when not drunk, but a dark brute when he drank, which happened more and more as he aged. He died 10 years go, not even 60 years old. I still cried at his funeral. I'm sure he left me with some demons, but thankfully, at least I know how not to be a miserable father to my child. Stay strong! (amazingly, as a couple of posters above me, I don't give two shits on religion... :D)
