Thanks this brings back memories when I was a child I used to love watching this, The famous Adventures of mr. Magoo of mr. Magoo is one of my favorites
This series came about because NBC wanted a weekly version of "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol". So UPA came up with this series, where he portrayed other "great men" of literature. There were 26 episodes of "THE FAMOUS MR. MAGOO" produced in 1964-'65...and a large majority of those episodes were re-edited into "feature film anthologies" that were syndicated on TV a few years later.
Thanks so much for uploading this, I watched these shows time and again as a kid, guessing at what the English dialogue meant and filling the blanks with my own imagined surroundings :)
In the early 1990's, USA Network showed this series Sunday mornings at 9:30 after Cartoon Express at 9AM and before Popeye and Son at 10AM. I taped about half of the episodes to VHS at the time, Including the Dick Tracy, Snow White, Don Quixote and a couple others, They left out the introductory prologues by "actor" Magoo..Just a "We'll return after these messages" tag in front of the Magoo dressing room after each segment.KDKA Pittsburgh in the 70's showed this at 8AM when I could get it..
Like "Classic Comics" this was the introduction a lot of us kids got to classic literature. By High School I was familiar with these stories BECAUSE of Mr. Magoo. Disney showed these shows in the early 90s or late 80s.
two particular bit were from this show...Magoo as Watson in the Sherlock Holmes segment and the remarkably well done Count of Monte Cristo... hearing Magoo laugh maniacally at revenge is one eerie moment.
I like Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, and the version of Snow White in which he was all seven dwarves, and Snow White also had a pet dragon who tried to protect her from the Queen. Take that, Disney!
Yes, I believe Libby, McNeill & Libby was a "primary sponsor" of the show when it was on NBC, but the "other sponsor"? I don't know. I do know this episode originally aired on March 27, 1965....
@acla9000 What's really interesting is that this show aired opposite "Gilligan's Island" on Saturday nights during the 1964-1965 season. So you basically had dueling Jim Backus shows. "The Famous Adventures of Mr. Magoo" only lasted one season on NBC, while "Gilligan's Island" became a big hit on CBS on Thursday nights.

This is the only episode I have. It happened to be among the 16mm collection a local library was giving away.
Man, this brings back memories!
I really wish someone would post more of this show on here. I just LOVE his take on Snow White and Robin Hood.

This show aired on the Disney Channel back in the day, along with many other Magoo movies.

That's my grandpa in the middle at the pub. His name, Dallas McKennon
Dallas McKennon was known as the Woody Woodpecker villains Buzz Buzzard and Dooley.
