Not a Juri main, but I definitely preferred her SF4 costume over her SF5 costume, therefore found her SF6 costume to be the proper evolution. Two biggest problems with the SF5 outfit I had was that it looked relatively plain, and given the model's proportions made her legs look too skinny. The pants being baggy made a big difference. Also, SF4 and SF6 costumes makes her a Jojo, and I want my SF to remain a Jojo reference.
Also something that a lot of people forget is that her fighting style is tae kwon do, something that is very reflected in her sf4 and sf6 designs but got neglected in 5, 5's design gives her a weird femme fatale look which i think is what they were going for but the most essential part of her style got lost in the design. I think she looks pretty good in 6, she gets to keep the fighting style reference, the jojo reference, a little bit of the femme fatale flair, and now she has a little bit of e girl kpop vibes going on as well.
i kinda like how Ryu and Ken's stories have drastically diverged in the last few games but in SF6 they converge as they've both become different kinds of Martial Arts Hobos
i think ryu is dressing as his master gouken and that shows how he defeated the evil inside him and lives a normal life as a fighter who seeks challenge, after all i really love all characters costumes especially guile because it reflects his job in the air force
I feel like they would have came up with a better design if it was done right after third strike in the mid 2000s. Ryu is kinda corny these days. They forgot how to make him cool and stoic without trying too hard to make him wise and philosophical
You know whats funny, Guile's costume choice now copies that military guy in Art of Fighting. SF6 in general loves Art of Fighting, especially part 1. Never thought I would see sf copy and game that copied the.
I think out of all the new designs and characters Jamie and Dee Jay's are my favorites. I love Jamie's inspiration from the twins and Dee Jay actually looking like a Jamaican music artist now was definitely needed!
It very likely will, considering how much of a misstep SF5 was at launch Capcom is definitely taking proper steps to ensure SF6 is a more complete game with different mechanics for different skill levels.
SF6 Ryu design is fantastic. Same with Cammy's design and a few others. It might be the best they've ever looked. Another thing with Ryu's new design is he took some inspiration from Oro after he met him and became more powerful between SF3 Third Strike and SF6 so his new design actually has some lore reasons behind it

I love when people talk about fighting game design, fighting game characters have some of the most iconic and out there designs, ik tier list and combo tutorials, etc. are more important when it comes to gameplay, but who cares about winning if you don’t look good doing it
Lily's weapons are for more than just visuals, I think. I think they're there to extend her range to make her gameplay much more familiar feeling for T. Hawk players, a big character with lots of reach.
This was a fun video to watch. You pointed out way more details than I was appreciating. I personally would have found it interesting to hear your thoughts (if any) on the new visual style vs the older ones, meaning more realistic depictions of detail vs the more cartoony/stylized, graphic styles of 4 & 5.
Fun fact: when Daigo said E. Honda was a disgrace to Japan, he was actually talking about the fact his inclusion in the series goes against sumo culture
I love so many designs in SF6 like DJ and Ryu and think they had a real glowup, but MAN Luke's SF6 design is one of my favorite fg char designs in any game. It's simplistic enough with a lot of personality still, and Im really happy that I also like his gameplay a ton
if there's anything I'm thankful for, it's that Capcom made a successor to T. Hawk with MUCH less stereotyped design for their culture. I've seen so many people excited for Lily and loving her feel and design and it makes me really happy to see.
Cammy looks incredible. Same with Juri, Guile, Chun li, Ryu. Hell, everyone looks amazing. His Ken hair take is iffy af though, idk how he can say Kens hair looks better in SFV with a straight face lol
@@Tr1zzle They just need to give street fighter 5 ken's hair texture and color more distinction that's not the color yellow to make it look it cool the pony tail is very cool and traditional martial arts style hair. I also liked kens street fighter 5 ken design ,but the hair is off putting since it blends with the graphics too well you can almost can not see kens face. if street fighter 5 ken had black hair or some pony tail color hair highlights this would the fix the problem big time.

Personally I didn't really like Juri's look in SF5. She wasnt *as* much of a fan service character in 4 but it became her main thing in 5 and that included the latex bodysuit look. She looks more unique with her 4 and 6 looks, less like a purple Catwoman. Her baggy pants are iconic also, love to have them back.
What I think is really cool is the way they doubled down on giving Ken and Akuma new looks. They got a lot of flak for their looks on V and I'm sure it was tempting for Capcom to just play it conservative with them this time and they totally didn't.
Ryu can't feed into the darkness anymore. The dark Hadou is gone after sf5 story. And his theme has this sense of freedom from the tight grip of darkness having a hold on him. Now he has gained full control of himself with no dark Hadou inside him.
Street fighter 5 was made with made with such limited and uninspired vision. They tried to play it unnecessarily safe, the designs were plain, the mechanics were boring and lacked innovation. The Japanese heavy art brush direction felt tacked on...like and after thought because the game was rushed. Capcom listened to those who had issues with Street fight 4. The voices of street fighter 3 fans, game companies who thought an accessable fighter would be a successful fighter, and terrible design advice that lead to the creation of marvel vs Capcom infinite along with sf5. Sf6 has the same energy that SF4 did, but giving the damage SFV did to street fighters reputation (ok sales and SF losing its prime time Evolution slot) we'll see if it's enough to go up against Tekken 8
The one thing im not liking about the art direction of sf6 is the create a character. The cac looks like a totally different art style standing next to the main cast. Its especially noticeable when your character is standing next to luke in the demo. You could never give your cac character the same proportions as any of the main cast.
I bet you could get close, but I feel like that's by design. They really want to show off the RE engine, and the character creation, while cool, is just a fraction of what that engine is capable of, I bet.
@@Tr1zzle Thats really just an excuse. (Most) games have incredibly awful CaC systems. *Of course the RE Engine is capable of more. This game was made to also run on PS4.* It has a nice art style, but is technically unimpressive
What I love about this, is the reason street fighters designs come off as lazy in the past, is for outside of skins, they weren't big fans of flashy over the top designs. They wanted very simple and honest game play focused designs. And in this game it really looks like they solved that problem they had in. "how do we keep designs bad ass, but not over the top"

I actually like the luke design in street fighter 5(minus the outrageous hair) I hope they have an alternate costume with that and his new hair from the new game. Anyway I think Ken is gonna be my main. I just love his new design and disheveled look kinda depressed look, I just turned 35 and it kinda reminds me of how I feel right now about my life. So it really resonates with me.
I finally met a like minder person who believes Ken's design in SF5 is good. I always thought they did a wonderful job updating him in that game, from the more modern training outfit to the tied hair in the half ponytail, I thought they nailed it, but SFV's artstyle and character models couldn't do it justice. If you look at all the official 2D artwork of SF5 Ken he looks amazing, it's just his SF5 model's face and hair that looks bad, and got shit on so much that Capcom reverted his hair back to the original style for SF6, which I thought was a missed opportunity to give him his long Alpha hair back, since he's on the run, it would make sense to let his hair grow for people to not recognize him as easily, maybe even call back on the fact that his hair is dyed, and let his long hair be bottom-half blond, and upper-half black.
You don't know why Luke is disliked? His weird design especially the forearms. Also, with all the characters to choose from in the franchise, why just drop a rando new one in for the glow up? Why not Laura's brother? Why not Sakura? You know, people who have been on a journey in the story
Feels like SF5 Ken was originally a Super Broly design with different pants, black hair and had more tanned skin. It's good to see useless design for one character fits different one.

As a fashion head I actually liked Luke’s more obnoxious protagonist look from SF5 tbh. Feel like he was actually more drippy in that one, but SC6 one is definitely a less is more approach
Who was mad at Kimberly being in the game would make it progressive? There's been black characters in the game since SF1. Elena was a black female that was well received in 3. Laura was Afro-Bazilian in 5. I don't think anyone was losing any skin off their back regarding characters of different races. "World Warriors" after all.
Ryu, Dee Jay and Cammy had the best upgrades while all the new characters have great debut design. Honestly there isn’t a single bad design in this game. They’re either dripping with style like Dee Jay’s, or very intelligent updates that fit the character, like the more elegant/mature Chun and the more scrappy-looking Ken.
Just letting you know that guy is the 39th successor not Kimberly she is his apprentice. If you wants to be the 40th successor she would have to defeat guy and that isn't happening anytime soon.

I think Manon is somewhat influenced or related to Abel. They are both French grapplers with a blue outfit.
They made a great choice when they decided to let pass time, watching Ryu and Chun Li get older is really badass and gives me nostalgia.

Single player features are normally not a big priority for Japanese fighting games. They just made a One Piece character creator

As a fashion head I actually liked Luke’s more obnoxious protagonist look from SF5 tbh. Feel like he was actually more drippy in that one, but SC6 one is definitely a less is more approach

Who was mad at Kimberly being in the game would make it progressive? There's been black characters in the game since SF1. Elena was a black female that was well received in 3. Laura was Afro-Bazilian in 5. I don't think anyone was losing any skin off their back regarding characters of different races. "World Warriors" after all.

SF6 Ryu trained under Oro for a time from what I can tell. Also based off of Gouken's design too thus Ryu looking badass like Gouken & Oro!
Ryu, Dee Jay and Cammy had the best upgrades while all the new characters have great debut design.
Honestly there isn’t a single bad design in this game. They’re either dripping with style like Dee Jay’s, or very intelligent updates that fit the character, like the more elegant/mature Chun and the more scrappy-looking Ken.

Ryu and Kens style, fits for both of them. I personally like both Cammy old and new style, even though the later for a Special Forces agent makes much more sense, i personally like both luke style, even though the SF5 design was a bit... Weird jjjj. Love Dee Jay and my favorite Shinobi girl Kimberly design, i would like to see my main Farid design though
