Ah! My favourite gun in the game. Possibly the entire series. Effectively covers the roles of sniper rifle and assault rifle simultaneously, allowing me to have either save the weight by not carrying an additional assault rifle or combine it with something with a high rate of fire (Like the Phaeston or Geth Assault Rifle) for close-quarters.
I'm two-thirds through a playthrough at the moment. I have to FORCE myself to use other guns otherwise I would just stick to the Raptor the whole way through haha.
Raptor is very light... its practically weightless when you're on level 10. Unlike other sniper rifles, this is used more as a support rifle....its used for providing continuous fire on some enemies like the Phantom, and of course the bigger enemies. You'll need to mod it right though... i used Incendiary Ammo when using this on Gold... see the video link if you wanna see Raptor being used as a support weapon
@AresCaesar i believe in this video its a Raptor level 3, and i'm using level 2 extra ammo perk and level 2 extra damage perk... but even at level 1, this gun is really great.... the high rate of fire and low recoil can help you take down tough shielded and armored enemies easily
i don't quite like commas, they keep the spacing too close; i use the dots to space out the next sentence for easy reading and parsing; especially for longer sentences
@MeowdolfKitler i agree.. i tried that in single player.. its awesome although not enough punch for insanity mode... i still had to use the normal Widow with armor piercing ammo to survive the reaper army in single player..... Could you get a Valiant from the veteran / spectre packs?
umm... i did use it on gold; didn't you check out the video link in the video info box? i didn't score third; because i was playing as support with Drell Adept, partnered with an Asari Adept for Reave + Warp/Throw combo
I know =] I had this gun as first unlock in multiplayer but haven't used much yet. It's written that M-13 Raptor is combination/mix of sniper and assault rifle.
actually the tactical cloak works via duration... all your bullets within that duration, including a small window after the cloak has deactivated; will have the damage increase.... if you are fast enough with your fingers, you can squeeze in a lot of shots within a tactical cloak deactivation to get a high total damage
@1234541709 - I don't know when, but it should become available for buying from either your procurement terminal or from the Citadel by level 16-ish for 7700 credits.
@Doc Mayhem i think black widow is better than valiant cause of the power: i dont want to have to put 3 valiant bullets in a phantom when the BW can do it in two( despite recoil, weight and reload)
Haven't tried that yet; but with the Turian Soldier's Marksman upgraded for Rate of Fire, its not much use, the rate of fire seems the same... unless you have a mouse macro for that...
My Cerberus Adept uses this along with the Cerberus Harrier. He uses the Raptor to take out infantry targets, and the Harrier to take down the heavier enemies like Praetorians, Atlases, Geth Primes, and Banshees.
The weight makes no difference. If you cloak before using the power the cooldown is reduced dramatically anyway, by the time the reload is done the powers are ready for use again. I could be wrong since ive never used the raptor but i doubt it does anywhere near enough damage against the bosses on gold. Maybe its ok against atlases since there pretty slow.
yup; im too lazy to make an auto-fire mouse macro..... however shooting this fast tires my fingers... and almost made my left mouse button damaged..... while you wont suffer from Raptor's low recoil... your hand will shake the mouse quite a lot when you try to fire this fast
I never thought about that actually that is a good point. But considering if you are playing gold and you've already got a salarian or a geth infiltrator with a heavy hitting sniper, do you really need another infiltrator with a raptor? On gold shouldn't you be using a high damage pistol on your adepts? There lighter, especially if you spec into the weight talents, and they do just as much damage in the long run. Its already a given that you put mods on almost any gun on gold,
have u seen the bioware forum link i posted ? it shows the Damage per second that Raptor does compared to other sniper rifles..... and guess which one does the highest damage per second? raptor tops the list with 3358 headshot DPS, and black widow only goes 2409 headshot DPS
headshot damage per second list for level 10 sniper rifles (with turian marksman rof bonus): Viper (1254 DPS), Incisor (2385 DPS), Raptor (3358 DPS), Black Widow (2409 DPS), Valiant (2478 DPS).... bolt action sniper rifles don't benefit from DPS stats but you can still compare if you want
surprisingly out of all my crysis 2, battlefield 3, sniper eliteve videos; this is the one with the most views.... where are all you people getting this link from?
hmm the function for raptors is mainly to help reduce shields for atlas; for armored bosses you definitely need armor piercing or incendiary ammo level 3.....but the best use for raptors is to pin down phantoms...especially those multiple phantoms at Gold level 8 onwards.... but mainly i use raptors usually with biotics (drell or asari adept) because its weightless.... ill mix it with a warp/reave and spam some headshots before i detonate the explosion....
i'm assigned by my teammates to distract the geth away from the circle..... we have our specific roles when playing with my friends.... my role as an infiltrator is usually specific (to revive, distract during hack/upload objectives, and to do individual hack objectives)
basically the continuous fire keeps stunning those phantoms especially if all your shots are headshots...... when you're holding a raptor; you wont get as much kills as those pure snipers/infiltrators with widow/javelin; but its an excellent support weapon to help those snipers in between their reload times..... but in Gold; i stress again, you must mod this gun with ammo and damage mods
um... no... I used heavy weapons in ME2 as both Vanguard and Infiltrator. I'm almost certain as well that Adepts, Engineers and Sentinels also got them considering they were a VERY major part of ME2. In ME3 though, such weapons can only be found and used in the map they are put in. In terms of the M-13 Raptor though, it's a user unfriendly weapon that makes you remain out of cover. I'd really rather get the Black Widow or something else for Gold that has more of a punch per bullet.
i see... i prefer the semi-auto of raptor cos it allows you to either use it like a classic sniper rifle and place all your headshots nicely... or go full speed if your finger is fast enough.... it can get quite tiring though unless you have a mouse macro
I just explained why the Valiant is generally better than the Black Widow. So, using cloak with either Sniper will just boost the damage output either way.
oh if you're playing on console then explains it... unless you have a rapid fire controller.... btw in my other Gold video in the video link... i used the Raptor as well, with a Drell Adept.... i dont have tac cloak... but you can see it does pretty good damage on a Gold Atlas... but i modded it with Sniper Rail Amp III and Incendiary Ammo III for it to be really powerful against armor.... although in the video you'll be seeing me use biotic powers more
It's a heavy weapon from ME2, it's the most powerful one. (In ME2 soldiers had a "heavy weapon" slot with stuff like missle launchers) The cain is basically a nuke launcher.
Well that's not the point of this video; the point is to show a 'sniper rifle' that fires way too fast with so little recoil, and has a fast reload time. Even though the damage may not seem much; in an accurate player's hands, this gun is lethal. As for the Geth Plasma SMG, if you would bother to see the link i posted in the video info that lists ALL the weapons' comparisons of damage per second, you'll see that Geth Plasma SMG only does 1005 DPS, Raptor does 3358
Nice, I prefer the single to multi player but I've had a decent bit of fun with the carnifex and charge/nova, pull/nova, cloak/snipershot/energydrain so on and so forth I mainly think in terms of the campaign though. I'm kind of curious, do you think a Black Widow / Talon combo would work well for long range and short range or should I use another pistol/smg?
i use it all the time in Gold runs... basically cos its light... on my Drell Adept, recharge rate is 175%.... mine's a Raptor X, usually i mod it for extra damage + enhanced scope or armor piercing.....as for weapon mods, i usually add incendiary ammo or armor piercing ammo
um... no; didn't you see the Bioware advanced tip videos from the makers of the game? the infiltrator damage bonus is not for the first shot only; it lasts for a few seconds when you cloak, and a few more seconds when you decloak.... you do multiple damage bonuses with a high firing sniper like this
yeah i used it in single player... but need to get used to the millisecond delay when the bullet fires.... it sounds awesome though; would do great with my geth infiltrator
depends on how you shoot your gun. I'm a faithful widow user and ur reload speed comment is correct but i have no trouble on gold and actually quite the effective shooter and can nearly take things out with a salarian infiltrator with only widow, sniper rifle amp 2 (gear bonus) and tact cloak and energy drain. I kick major butt with that gun so i wouldnt exactly count out the widow vs. n7 valiant. each has it's own effective uses.
it depends; i use Carnifex too on my adepts most of the time; but you know Phantoms on Gold take at least 3-4 headshots...considering the wave with multiple phantoms... sometimes the Raptor is helpful...once these phantoms are down to health; they'll retreat and cloak...giving your teammates time to breathe..... normally i wont carry a Raptor with an infiltrator in Gold; infiltrator's role would be to do heavy damage, revive, and do device hacking objectives..
agree on this... but best partner to have with Infiltrator + Raptor, is one more Infiltrator + Widow/Black Widow (with anti-armor mods).... raptor will take down small targets and help with shields and big targets... widow will help finish off Atlas/Banshee/Brute/Geth Prime... both can cloak and help revive each other also
@CalleighMacbeth i'm actually using this on Silver and Gold with armor piercing mod + armor piercing ammo... i've got my raptor up to raptor X... makes short work of brutes, geth primes and banshees
The maps are small, but i never use it for cross-mappin. If you want power go for the Widow or Javelin. Ammo cap go for the Raptor or Viper. That 3 burst sniper is a P.O.S. The Kishock Harpoon Launcher is amazing! Heavy but it is powerful and does bleed damage.
haha.. i dont think i had it at that time... this was a very early video... havent got much stuff back then.... btw i did try the Kishock harpoon gun.... on bronze, 2 headshots kill a prime.... thats crazy damage
haha no its okay; this video is misleading because it's in Bronze, and used on an infiltrator....the Raptor in this video i think is only level 3; but I feel this gun is deadly on an accurate person who can land all headshots in 15 bullets.....in this video i'm just spamming to show the insane rate of fire
yeah i like to use the javelin or widow as well; but i enjoy doing biotic explosions as well... Raptor is pretty light... 200% recharge rate on a drell adept... Biotic explosions is the easiest way to finish gold on reaper
thats another reason i dont like using the raptor, i play ME3 on the PS3 so my finger would get tired pushing down the R1 all the time. dont get me wrong though that gun is pretty damn good but all i play now is gold so i like to have the best guns i own to really put a damper on them.. also in your vid you were using tac cloak that increases damage 40-130% depending on what class and gun your using so that comes into play when showing off how good the weapon is. any gun is good with tac cloak..
@JaredDrake i used with accuracy mod for about 3/4 of my SP campaign and was head shooting enemies at close range without scope on hardcore. Beat the game with it in the end. This is basically your do it all rifle (more of a combat/marksmen rifle then a sniper really). If they fix the ending i may give it another go on insanity. Infiltrators unite! ;D
u can use ur tactical cloak to chop ur reload on teh black widow making it more devastating than the valiant if u dont believe me i can demonstrate it in a live game.
Though I understand how adding up headshots drastically multiplies the damage, the required skill and time out of cover required to do this is absolutely unacceptable (at least on gold). A simple Widow or Mantis pop-shot is enough to finish off opponents with ease; hell, if you wanted to add up headshot damage, then just use the Geth Plasma SMG.
raptor has it's uses but not for an infiltrator. It's better for a soldier or even an adept. You want a higher damage per shot for an infiltrator or the tactical cloak becomes worthless.
you mean while he is taking fire away from his squad so they can get an easier hack which can still be done with 3 people? Odd, seems like a team player to me.
yeah for me its either raptor or carnifex.... my widow is only level 1.. and i havent got javelin yet.... but in singleplayer Insanity mode, i use Widow alot, it helps to kill those big targets fast with the infiltrator cloak
The N7 Valiant is hands down the most effective sniper for Multiplayer. It packs a hell of a punch, shoots fast and has a nearly instant reload time. It seriously blows the Black Widow out of the water, and in the time it takes the normal Widow to reload after a shot, I've already loaded 3 clips into the enemy and done twice as much damage.
I prefer the Widow/Black Widow. It's usually one shot, one kill. It penetrates cover too. It does insane damage when you're cloaked.
Ah! My favourite gun in the game. Possibly the entire series. Effectively covers the roles of sniper rifle and assault rifle simultaneously, allowing me to have either save the weight by not carrying an additional assault rifle or combine it with something with a high rate of fire (Like the Phaeston or Geth Assault Rifle) for close-quarters.
wow even now? I havent touched this game for like so long..... i know theres so many weapons and characters now
I'm two-thirds through a playthrough at the moment. I have to FORCE myself to use other guns otherwise I would just stick to the Raptor the whole way through haha.
I say m90 indra
@JaredDrake i'm not too sure; i think the description says something about the recoil... but i believe its more to bullet spread
The .25 second reload on the m-13 is what makes it so godly.
@MeowdolfKitler i do have the collector's edition, but i didnt see the weapon in the multiplayer screen... only in the singleplayer
@AresCaesar i believe in this video its a Raptor level 3, and i'm using level 2 extra ammo perk and level 2 extra damage perk... but even at level 1, this gun is really great.... the high rate of fire and low recoil can help you take down tough shielded and armored enemies easily
i don't quite like commas, they keep the spacing too close; i use the dots to space out the next sentence for easy reading and parsing; especially for longer sentences
has anyone noticed that like all the weapons have an "M" like M-13,M-300 ect,
@MeowdolfKitler i agree.. i tried that in single player.. its awesome although not enough punch for insanity mode... i still had to use the normal Widow with armor piercing ammo to survive the reaper army in single player.....
Could you get a Valiant from the veteran / spectre packs?
this is an old video; click the link in the video info for the Raptor used in Gold games where i play as a biotic most of the time

i havent gotten that yet

@ShuToshio nope thats the default reload speed
well too bad; it has some good tips on how to play as a biotic explosion support role; as a drell adept
oh if you're playing on console then explains it... unless you have a rapid fire controller....
btw in my other Gold video in the video link... i used the Raptor as well, with a Drell Adept.... i dont have tac cloak... but you can see it does pretty good damage on a Gold Atlas... but i modded it with Sniper Rail Amp III and Incendiary Ammo III for it to be really powerful against armor....

don't you wish they had Ultra Lightweight Materials for sniper rifles?
@ragemeteora in the end it says bronze, so i guess its bronze
umm, didn't you see the other video link in my video info?
It shows me using the Raptor in Gold; and I did pretty good in it
Nice, I prefer the single to multi player but I've had a decent bit of fun with the carnifex and charge/nova, pull/nova, cloak/snipershot/energydrain so on and so forth I mainly think in terms of the campaign though. i got it from a normal veteran pack... its an 'uncommon' weapon... and do take note that its a sniper rifle... not an assault rifle
yeah i used it in single player... but need to get used to the millisecond delay when the bullet fires.... it sounds awesome though; would do great with my geth infiltrator

lol this is an old video where i'm just fooling around; i'm a Gold class player actually; my default weapon is actually biotic explosions
havent played me3 for a while... any new stuff?

@CalleighMacbeth i'm actually using this on Silver and Gold with armor piercing mod + armor piercing ammo... i've got my raptor up to raptor X... makes short work of brutes, geth primes and banshees
the main difference between this and the mattock is the recoil stability... if you add the sniper scope mod, this gun practically has 0 recoil...
is that a new weapon from the latest dlc?
The M-90 Indra Sniper i believe has more damage and its fully automatic+ good accuracy like the raptor.
its quite an allrounded weapon despite it having low damage... but its good in tight situations
the link?
Indra is not available on multiplayer, my friend
and I think you equipped some kind of a fast reloader?
The maps are small, but i never use it for cross-mappin. If you want power go for the Widow or Javelin. Ammo cap go for the Raptor or Viper. That 3 burst sniper is a P.O.S. The Kishock Harpoon Launcher is amazing! Heavy but it is powerful and does bleed damage.
where do you find it
stronger than the Javelin?
um i did use this weapon on Gold... and i play Gold games 90% of the time... check the video info for the usage of Raptor in Gold
haha.. i dont think i had it at that time... this was a very early video... havent got much stuff back then....
btw i did try the Kishock harpoon gun.... on bronze, 2 headshots kill a prime.... thats crazy damage
Damn right about the Valiant, I love that rifle, by the way does the Spectre packs upgrade it?
this is an old video; there's the link in the video info of me using Raptor in Gold; if you're interested to watch
its a sniper riffle in call of duty modern warfare 3 that fires as fast as you can shoot
actually if you aim headshots only; it only takes about 3-4 headshots
If you play gold 90% if of the time why does you N7 page not show that.
@flyingninja745 hahaa.... yeah my wrist gets a lot of exercise... and my mouse buttons are dying
its in the video info box above
I've never seen the raptor fire this fast, but I'm gonna assume that you and your trigger finger.
haha no its okay; this video is misleading because it's in Bronze, and used on an infiltrator....the Raptor in this video i think is only level 3; but I feel this gun is deadly on an accurate person who can land all headshots in 15 bullets.....in this video i'm just spamming to show the insane rate of fire
yeah i like to use the javelin or widow as well; but i enjoy doing biotic explosions as well... Raptor is pretty light... 200% recharge rate on a drell adept...
Biotic explosions is the easiest way to finish gold on reaper
exactly; but an adept needs a fast recharge speed
thats another reason i dont like using the raptor, i play ME3 on the PS3 so my finger would get tired pushing down the R1 all the time. dont get me wrong though that gun is pretty damn good but all i play now is gold so i like to have the best guns i own to really put a damper on them.. also in your vid you were using tac cloak that increases damage 40-130% depending on what class and gun your using so that comes into play when showing off how good the weapon is. any gun is good with tac cloak..
yes it is available on multiplayer but it doesnt matter sniping shotguns > sniper rifles
Infiltrators unite! ;D
don't forget the weight of this gun... good for those who wanna spam powers as well
u can use ur tactical cloak to chop ur reload on teh black widow making it more devastating than the valiant if u dont believe me i can demonstrate it in a live game.
i still havnet unlocked the krysae :/ but i like the idea of explosive ammo
whats an RSASS?
Though I understand how adding up headshots drastically multiplies the damage, the required skill and time out of cover required to do this is absolutely unacceptable (at least on gold). A simple Widow or Mantis pop-shot is enough to finish off opponents with ease; hell, if you wanted to add up headshot damage, then just use the Geth Plasma SMG.
this gun is strong when put on a turian sentinel but it's not op just try the typhoon
raptor has it's uses but not for an infiltrator. It's better for a soldier or even an adept. You want a higher damage per shot for an infiltrator or the tactical cloak becomes worthless.
actually raptor's damage per second and rate of fire is faster than some assault rifles
you mean while he is taking fire away from his squad so they can get an easier hack which can still be done with 3 people? Odd, seems like a team player to me.
yeah for me its either raptor or carnifex.... my widow is only level 1.. and i havent got javelin yet....

It seriously blows the Black Widow out of the water, and in the time it takes the normal Widow to reload after a shot, I've already loaded 3 clips into the enemy and done twice as much damage.
I tried the Raptor and I don't like it. Maybe Raptor X with barrel mod X...I might try that.
@ragemeteora haha.. the AI is markedly tougher in the retail than in the demo.... im going to think twice about playing singleplayer on Insanity
