Hi mate, I'm looking to clad a breeze block pond build with locally sourced (Cumbrian) red sandstone. I'm thinking this red dye in the cement would be ideal. I just wondered if you had any tips on a cement mix? I've done it while back and the sandstone didn't take and the coping stones came lose.
@markandjanicemark8520 you have to dampen the sandstone first Use a redbuilding sand 1 opc 1 hydrated lime 5 or 6 sand That will go red and you don't need to use a dye
@b8dom with dye you have to be careful not to stain the flags If you do black when black dries it goes grey and only black when it's wet I use joint it simple dark grey
It depends on colour what pigment The people who supplied the pigment will tell you I'd normally put 2 to 3 fluid ounces per builders bucket Mixed dry but you have to mix every bucket the same measure every mix you do
Good to know.
If I use a pigment in my lime morter will it alter the bonding and/or the longevity of the morter. Thanks for the video.
No as you don't need much

Good to know not to use the "cement" pigment with lime. Where do you get the lime type from?
@user-uc1nm2zx9w I get my pigments from ty Mawr lime
But just google lime suppliers near me and you can compare prices
How much would you usually add, say in a 1:3 mix with standard buckets
