I had this idea a while ago for a Waluigi solo game called Waluigi's Cheap Casino. The idea was that you, as Waluigi, had to scam people with your casino without getting caught.

I actually like the idea that Waluigi was a pro tennis player Wario hired to be his tennis partner for an unfair advantage and after that they just became friends, giving Waluigi an invite to all the Mario Party's. It would explain why he never shows up outside of the side games.
I always thought of Waluigi as a tragic character. He seems to blame others for his failure in life, saying things like "everybody cheated!" when he loses in Mario Kart. Which is parallels his legacy as a character, never succeeding at being more than a side character. Either his own game or being playable in a mainline game could give him the redemption he's looking for.

Wario and Waluigi were actually considered for NSMBWii. They opted not to use them for honestly pretty bullshit reasons. They felt like they'd have to give Wario a fart attack, which would have given him an unfair advantage (something they suddenly became way more comfortable with from U onwards), and Waluigi was just too weird. I can kinda see a genuine reason with Waluigi, he's so tall that it may have caused gameplay problems, but still.
I think you're sort of misremembering that. The interview for the game did mention Wario, but not Waluigi. That was Peach. Regardless, I kind of feel like Miyamoto's response for why they weren't playable was meant to be more of a joke rather than taken seriously. I do agree that Waluigi's height might be a problem. Perhaps they could resize him a bit to make it work like they did with Peach & Daisy in Wonder, though I'm not sure how "off" he may look if they do.

I have 2 ideas for games for this fan favorite meme character: 1: a stealth-based puzzle game where Waluigi is hired by Bowser to kidnap Peach (again) since he’s recovering from his last adventure. Spoilers, Bowser doesn’t pay and Waluigi undoes all that he did! 2: a goofy Mech-based Combat game which displays Waluigi’s ability to make something decent as cheaply as possible as his starter mech is a lawn chair taped to two inverted treadmills with a clear plastic tube to protect himself and an old baseball launcher jerry-rigged to the “cockpit” to fight! As the game progresses, you can upgrade your oversized modern art piece into a full-blown proper mech.

A game store near me once mocked up a game case to be "Waluigi's Taco Stand" and the back had 4 "screenshots" with captions underneath depicting features in the supposed game. The first three were goofy but seemed mostly-plausible for a game while the fourth screencap was Waluigi holding his head and the caption underneath read, "WAAAAAAAAAAA!" I wisht that game was real. I wish the proposed games here were real.

When I read the words "untapped potential", the first person that immediately comes to my mind is Rosalina. But that's such a crazy thing to say, isn't it? Why would someone believe that a character, who had too many mainline games' appearances, still get considered underrated or has "untapped potential"? Well that's me right there. I'm that Rosa f*g who shamelessly think that Nintendo did nothing meaningful with her since 2007. In fact, they straight up never knew what to do with her after Galaxy 1. She's literally the perfect example of a one-off character being forced to join the main cast. And thanks to that decision, look at her right now; she's literally just there, doesn't even have that reserved persona from Galaxy that made her stand out anymore. I can go on and on about how each game after her debut never did her character justice, but I won't bother myself because apparently, people don't care. Just look it up on TH-cam; there's absolutely not a single video criticising her post-Galaxy state, and that says a lot about her current situation.
I think Waluigi has great potential for his own game, for instance, imagine a stealth/action game starring Waluigi with MGSV: Ground Zeroes gameplay/openness, Luigi’s mansion characterization/collects thin elements, and Persona 5’s unique area theme/decorations!

I’d like another remake of Super Mario 64 for like they did on the DS but for the Switch with updated modern graphics. Keep Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario but add Wauligi, Donkey Kong, and Diddy Kong as playable characters. Also add a day and night feature where the paintings change at night to something completely different giving you brand new levels to play as while still keeping all the original ones during the day.

Something people seem to always miss about Waluigi's name and symbol. Waluigi and Wario's names are derived from the word "waru" or "bad [guy]" combined with the names of their hero counterparts. When writing foreign words in japanese, certain consonant sounds have default japanese kana that get used. For example, Peach is written as 「ピーチ」("Piichi"). The default kana used for R (and L) is 「ル」(ru) while the default kana for W is 「ワ」 (wa). Occasionally, character names may be shortened using English consonants to match their japanese length names, especially on older games that needed to save as much cartridge space as possible. Wario's name is 5 characters in English, but only three in Japanese ワリオ. Using the same number of english characters, it would be written "WRO" Waluigi, meanwhile, is written using 5 kana in japanese- ワルイージ ("Waluiiji"). In english, this would be rendered as WRIIJ. When turned upside-down, L is not a capital letter, but it does heavily resemble the lowercase "r." This matchess Wario's symbol very cleanly, especially when the two stand next to each other. Side-by-side, Wario and Waluigi's hats would read "W r" or, " WARU" (Bad guys).
It’s kind of crazy to me that people act like being included as an assist trophy in smash bros is not major. Waluigi is a character who exists to be a Luigi version counterpart to Wario and nothing else really. The fact that he’s in smash bros at all is pretty impressive. There are tons of devs who’d kill to have their character included in smash bros.
The reason why nintendo doesn’t use Waluigi that often is probably that his design is very similar to a character in a japanese cartoon. (Seems like a rip-off maybe) A fun idea for Waluigi I had is that he appears like a rival in Luigi‘s mansion. Maybe he tries to get fame by saving Mario or he tries to collect money and own the villa. He could appear regularly sabotaging Luigi, creating more puzzles. It’s now a race who can get to King Boo first. Waluigi does in the end and gets captured immediately. Luigi now saves everyone, including him. This whole dynamic could lead to a lot of cool and funny moments I think. And Waluigi wouldn’t be just player #2 or villain #2. He would be his own special thing, adding more to the game.
I feel Nintendo doesn't incorporate Waluigi in other games because they don't see his character as appealing enough. In the sense they don't believe people find the idea of playing as him necessarily intriguing. His character didn't have a lot of inspiration behind his conception and design, unlike Wario who was conceived as the new villain for Mario Land 2 (and was featured in commercials for the game). Also prior to Mario Wonder, Daisy was 'in a similar spot' to Waluigi as she was also delegated to exclusively spin-off appearances (with the exception to her debut). But then she was added to Wonder to ensure the playable roster catered to both girls and boys. Waluigi as an intellectual property does not have that utility. Nonetheless, I personally feel adding Waluigi to something like a Wario game would undeniably amplify its appeal and Nintendo should see that.

Waluigi’s whole character is that he is the ULTIMATE loser. his creation is a distortion of a distortion (using wario’s likeness, based off of Luigi, who is based off from Mario) by all accounts he the polar opposite of Mario on a grid, which suggest he’s everything Mario isn’t. He’s character reflects that he wants to be relevant in universe, and NEVER Succeeds. Contrast to the popular Mario that’s in every game Nintendo regulates Waluigi to spinoffs because he is completely irrelevant. Waluigi’s identity being based on the other plumbers makes him a very weak character on his own, he only works in spinoffs because it fits his character blending in the giant cast, Nintendo ran with this and poke fun at it in super Mario odyssey’s costume. The sticker on his hat shows how distant he is compared to the rest of the plumbers who are all embroidered. he not relevant enough to earn a “true” status.
Blue toad is a pure soul and a blessing upon the world, replacing him with anything would be a crime and make the world a worse place. Yellow toad is kinda sus though and he can leave.

i always wanted waluigi to have his own take on the old flash game abobo’s big adventure, where he’s in a parody of a different game each level. maybe the story would be that he’s pitching different spinoff ideas to nintendo, like he’s literally giving an elevator pitch to miyamoto himself, and the 2 banter about waluigi’s ideas while you play. basically warioware but lanky and less subtle, like waluigi himself. heck, if we’re going the meta route, maybe we could get some jokes about the game industry through the dialogue.

Something people seem to always miss about Waluigi's name and symbol.
Waluigi and Wario's names are derived from the word "waru" or "bad [guy]" combined with the names of their hero counterparts.
When writing foreign words in japanese, certain consonant sounds have default japanese kana that get used. For example, Peach is written as 「ピーチ」("Piichi"). The default kana used for R (and L) is 「ル」(ru) while the default kana for W is 「ワ」 (wa).
Occasionally, character names may be shortened using English consonants to match their japanese length names, especially on older games that needed to save as much cartridge space as possible. Wario's name is 5 characters in English, but only three in Japanese ワリオ. Using the same number of english characters, it would be written "WRO"
Waluigi, meanwhile, is written using 5 kana in japanese- ワルイージ ("Waluiiji"). In english, this would be rendered as WRIIJ.
When turned upside-down, L is not a capital letter, but it does heavily resemble the lowercase "r." This matchess Wario's symbol very cleanly, especially when the two stand next to each other. Side-by-side, Wario and Waluigi's hats would read "W r" or, " WARU" (Bad guys).

It’s kind of crazy to me that people act like being included as an assist trophy in smash bros is not major. Waluigi is a character who exists to be a Luigi version counterpart to Wario and nothing else really. The fact that he’s in smash bros at all is pretty impressive. There are tons of devs who’d kill to have their character included in smash bros.
The reason why nintendo doesn’t use Waluigi that often is probably that his design is very similar to a character in a japanese cartoon. (Seems like a rip-off maybe)
A fun idea for Waluigi I had is that he appears like a rival in Luigi‘s mansion. Maybe he tries to get fame by saving Mario or he tries to collect money and own the villa. He could appear regularly sabotaging Luigi, creating more puzzles. It’s now a race who can get to King Boo first. Waluigi does in the end and gets captured immediately. Luigi now saves everyone, including him. This whole dynamic could lead to a lot of cool and funny moments I think. And Waluigi wouldn’t be just player #2 or villain #2. He would be his own special thing, adding more to the game.

I feel Nintendo doesn't incorporate Waluigi in other games because they don't see his character as appealing enough. In the sense they don't believe people find the idea of playing as him necessarily intriguing. His character didn't have a lot of inspiration behind his conception and design, unlike Wario who was conceived as the new villain for Mario Land 2 (and was featured in commercials for the game). Also prior to Mario Wonder, Daisy was 'in a similar spot' to Waluigi as she was also delegated to exclusively spin-off appearances (with the exception to her debut). But then she was added to Wonder to ensure the playable roster catered to both girls and boys. Waluigi as an intellectual property does not have that utility. Nonetheless, I personally feel adding Waluigi to something like a Wario game would undeniably amplify its appeal and Nintendo should see that.

Waluigi’s whole character is that he is the ULTIMATE loser. his creation is a distortion of a distortion (using wario’s likeness, based off of Luigi, who is based off from Mario) by all accounts he the polar opposite of Mario on a grid, which suggest he’s everything Mario isn’t. He’s character reflects that he wants to be relevant in universe, and NEVER Succeeds. Contrast to the popular Mario that’s in every game Nintendo regulates Waluigi to spinoffs because he is completely irrelevant. Waluigi’s identity being based on the other plumbers makes him a very weak character on his own, he only works in spinoffs because it fits his character blending in the giant cast, Nintendo ran with this and poke fun at it in super Mario odyssey’s costume. The sticker on his hat shows how distant he is compared to the rest of the plumbers who are all embroidered. he not relevant enough to earn a “true” status.
Blue toad is a pure soul and a blessing upon the world, replacing him with anything would be a crime and make the world a worse place.

i always wanted waluigi to have his own take on the old flash game abobo’s big adventure, where he’s in a parody of a different game each level. maybe the story would be that he’s pitching different spinoff ideas to nintendo, like he’s literally giving an elevator pitch to miyamoto himself, and the 2 banter about waluigi’s ideas while you play. basically warioware but lanky and less subtle, like waluigi himself. heck, if we’re going the meta route, maybe we could get some jokes about the game industry through the dialogue.
