relatively speaking, I found the TDS much more difficult than the UTMB. Like someone said below, its a shorter race but it also has some ascents that will break you (Col de la Forclaz, Col de Tricot, etc..) But...the entire event is unparalleled and everyone who takes part in it will remember it for the rest of their lives. :)
My friend has completed the UTMB four times, he has tried and failed the TDS twice. The total height gain condensed onto the shorter distance makes for savage ascents according to him. The CCC is shorter again, has less height gain and the trails are good. The trails on the TDS are a lot more rugged and there is one descent that has claimed more than a few ankles I believe. Another friend from my running club has also tried this race after completing the CCC and failed.

OK, cool! And now I feel a bit ashamed, I had mixed up the CCC and the TDS races. I was very happy to see Arnau win TDS this year, I see him once in a while out in the mountains here in Catalonia and he is very friendly.
+Ian Claridge maybe pick a year and start working towards it if you don't already. You need to gather qualifying points anyway, these shorter mountain races are a good place to start. Dreams only come true if you take action, just a well meant hint. Don't think I am not guilty in that regard but if it comes to endurance sports I know what I am talking about ;-)
I'm learning to run but I don't know where to start because I look at these people and think WTF THEY ARE SUPERHUMAN, i know they are not but i cant run 3 miles without being out of breath. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or guidance which can help me improve on my running
7even years ago I finished utmb too, I'm getting motivation again....
Wooooow..... this gives me goosebumps......Freaking wonderful idea. I envy these people so much!
