I pre-ordered The Green Mysteries back in 2016 and still have not received it. Three Hands Press has rarely responded to any of my requests for updates over the years. I even filled a complaint with The Better Business Bureau and they couldn't get any response from THP. Sad, really sad.
Yes I've heard from numerous people that they've been reported to different agencies. They have zero customer service skills. I have no idea how they're allowed to still operate a registered business.
Just stumbled across your video as i was looking into maybe purchasing The Green Mysteries. There is a paperback on amazon and barnes and noble for 90USD. Won't pay that. It is a tragedy because they are the only people who can publish Chumbley's work, and also because I'm afraid that people will ignore Daniel's amazing writings, just because of how bad the cusomter service is. I think that like Chumbley, Daniel is truly inspired, and he was meant to be a witch, artist and author... not customer service! Back when Andrew was still living and breathing... you would get a timely announcement that the book you pre-ordered would be delayed by a month or two. I want to support Daniel and his works, as well. What I cannot do is allow myself to continually be punished for spending so much money and trying so hard to acquire their works, which I regard as the very best occult books, past or future. Several times a year, I am torn... because now that I am earning a lot more money in my work, I consider whether I want to continue to try to buy books from them... or whether it is even worth the hassle. It isn't even about the money... it's about the sheer difficulty of getting what I paid for.
Yes, it's such a shame. I finally got my hands on a Corinne Boyer book by THP but I waited until Book Depository had stock to know for sure that it had actually been published. When I finally got my copy, it was a tiny book that looked like it came from a print on demand company. Definitely not a "quality" production like THP likes to claim. But at least now they have actually produced a book in the last 2 years. The thing that gets me is that Daniel goes to the effort of sending Christmas cards every year to former customers but won't answer emails 🤷🏻♀️
@@MissTeaAddict I haven't gotten a Christmas card in a while. Presumably, this is because I've moved. The first time I moved, I actually got a letter from Daniel, saying something like "divination indicated I wasn't dead"... like maybe he was sitting around trying to figure out where to send my books, or going through files, and decided to pull out tarot cards or something to figure out if I was still alive... LOL. Actually it was a nice letter, and I appreciated it but this was not that long after Andrew had died, so almost 20 years ago now. I had been living with my father who passed away, and then I moved out of that house a year later... so presumably, they had me confused with him. Also, another thing that just happened one day, is that I had an account on the THP website for ordering, and then one day it just disappeared and I couldn't log in anymore. This may have been several months after I had ordered some books, which never came... and then I just said "forget it" and didn't even try at that point, because of the hassle. I don’t want to take anything away from the publishers. It takes true artistry and talent to design/source materials for a fine press book. But, what anyone can do is is print one or two copies of that book, take nice photos, put it on a well-designed website for pre-order, and then totally fail to deliver it to market. Also, I do not need an $800 luxury-bound copy of someone’s niche master’s thesis from 2015. I would much prefer to own the previous generations of occult classics in that format.
Maybe the zeitgeist of THP had passed, from when the arte was more important than the money-they are clever people. I assume they found the need to grow income by whatever means - New products have lost some of their Magick for me personally (pun intended)

@@MissTeaAddict The thing is I've written for Dan a couple of times in various publications and I have always found him straight forward to deal with.... indeed in 2007 when I was organising an occult conference at Ludlow in the UK he spoke and was well received. So I must confess that when I ordered my copy of this work when it was first advertised in Mike Howard's Cauldron magazine during Nov 2014 I didn't anticipate the wait would be this long. Having said that he did tell me in 2020 that he was having problems with finding the right sort of printer and the one he had found, being Christian wouldn't do the work. However I do know from past conversations with Andrew Chumbley in 2003 when he stayed with me that when Azoetia was produced he had to wait until enough were sold and had banked the money before he could have it printed.... So maybe the same is happening here? Anyway I agree customer relations do need to be improved, greatly and the situation should have been made clear for everyone.....
There was a small tear in the middle of my Scottish witches and warlocks book I ordered and I contacted them about it and heard absolutely nothing back in response. I would expect that even if they can't replace the book (limited copies available that sort of thing) that they would at least respond explaining that, offer a coupon for my next order, something. but no: I just have to deal with it. you get what you get and like it.
I must add something to this remark. Apparently, the owner of Absinthe encountered some trouble. This is why they were not able to fulfill orders on eBay. They contacted those on eBay that had nor received their items, apologized, and offered free merc for the inconvenience. So, they're trying to repair the damage done.
@@wildernessofzinn17 I have so much respect for people/businesses that admit that they have made a mistake and go out of their way to try and compensate their customers. It's not easy, it costs extra money, but good service honestly makes or breaks a business I find.
I feel you! I have binding isues in a couple of my Fine/Deluxe editions (in particular, the fine edition of a rose veiled in black). Disappointing in a finely bound $400 book. oh, and I ordered the 2nd most expensive edition of "the green mysteries" right as orders were openend. I think i might be one of the only ones who DID NOT RECEIVE woodwose homilies.
I'm literally bombarding them with emails every day now about my order. It's been 3 weeks since I placed it on the 18th November 2021 and got the Order Processing email, along with money being taken out of my account. I'm mentioning in the emails that I will be reporting them for theft and fraud to all the appropriate customer protection organisations in every country they have stores in. Will let you guys know if I receive any correspondence, but if you have nothing better to do, I suggest doing the same. If they're being spammed with emails containing threats of being reported, maybe - just MAYBE - they'll do something about it!
Report them to the California Department of Consumer affairs. I was directed to this agency as being the proper channel for making meaningful reports against THP, since they are based in Hercules, California.
I have also experienced this. Ordered books that are not pre orders, paid for them, never received shipping confirmation or even a thank you for your purchase email. I've sent several emails via their contact page and have heard nothing. At this point and after watching this video, I'm going to cancel the order via Paypal and look to Troy Book and Fulgur Press for my books in the future.
If it's within the timeframe for a PayPal refund, I'd encourage you start the process for a refund. 😔 I don't understand why their website is still allowed to be online if they're not fulfilling orders.
On the bright side, Daniel Schulke is basically giving other publishers a master class on how not to run a business, and all for free, so that's nice of him, right?
Good to know. I only really got into THP in recent weeks but I had similar experiences with Hellfire Club Books. I only preorder from Troy, Anathema Publishing, and Aeon Sophia Press at this point.
Hellfire Club is even worse IMHO; Three Hands will issue a refund for delayed preorders; HFC will not. Paypal stopped serving them due to the many requests for refunds.
I ordered GM back in 2016. I was relentless with them after the missed their 2nd pub date. Be persistent. Be annoying. You might get your money back like I did.
Not that I'm aware of. I think they used to have a contact form on their website but I never received a response. And all of their social media has commenting turned off.
I used to be a loyal customer of Three Hands Press and its sister Xoanon but I decided to start buying their books elsewhere because of the lack of good customer service and years long delays of pre-orders. I had originally ordered The Green Mysteries almost 5 years ago and kept waiting every time they kept switching release date...but after almost 3 years of waiting, I asked for refund and to give credit, Daniel Schulke issued the full refund. I am not defending their consistent delays of their pre-orders, however, they are honest and refund your money. However, sometimes you do have to keep messaging them and waiting to get your refund. In my experience, if you want to buy THP books and Xoanon books at reasonable prices and not defective copies, JD Holmes is the best place.
I'm glad that you got a refund. Unfortunately there's many others who have commented here that said their requests for a refund were ignored. I hope to be able purchase THP books from a reseller one day, when they actually start making books again (if that ever happens).
When you say "sometimes you have to keep messaging them" how many times are you talking about because I have yet to get a reply after several emails requesting a refund.
Yep! I don't think I'll ever be able to bring myself to buy or read the book. Anything published by THP now just has this taint of yuckiness due to my own experiences dealing with them, along with the experience of others.
Even with the release, there are tons of customers such as myself who were some of the first to preorder the book. Who still have no response from THP and still have not received their copy of the book
Its November 2021, their website currently says ( as of August 2021) GM will be released Sept 29, 2021. Looking forward to the update saying itll be available on the Spring Equinox 2022.....
I didn't deal with THP in 2020 but years before their company was very customer-friendly. I ordered the first edition of Veneficium 2012/2013 and contacted them because the shipping to Germany took to long (some weeks), so they sent me another copy and finally I received both (and sent one copy back of course, although they didn't ask for it). Communication was not a problem at all.
I did see the announcement that they were shipping. I had a quick browse on instagram and a small handful of people seem to have a copy in their hands. But yeah, THP customer service is non existent 😅
Yikes! Glad you saw this beforehand. I understand not wanting to miss out on the book so maybe see if you can preorder from somewhere with a good refund policy like Book Depository or Amazon instead.
Now it looks like its published but did you got it by now? Mine is still not here, some people got it but it looks like its comming drop by drop 😅😵 that bro needs help with his store so badly omfg 😂
Because I got a refund through Book Depository (which also closed before it was published) then I won't be getting it. Also, after all the fuss around the book, I don't think I ever actually want to read it 😅
All I know is there shipping prices are ludicrous, I ordered for a friend, but would never pay that kind of price for shipping if it were my money. In addition, I have yet to see the books arrive and we are getting on a couple months now.
I just found this update today on their site: THE GREEN MYSTERIES, general release By Daniel A. Schulke Updated release date: 29 September, 2021 Hardcover and softcover editions of The Green Mysteries will be released September 29, 2021 (please note that this date does not apply to retail booksellers, only to Three Hands Press) and begin shipping to customers in the sequence in which orders were received as soon as we have stock. Special and deluxe editions will follow in 1-2 months’ time after hand binding. The title is sold out, but we have had a small number of cancelled orders. Although we have been asked by interested customers about the fate of these, they will not be made available for sale until final production costs have been assessed, and based on stock on hand. Any extra stock remaining due to refunded orders will be offered to customers in good standing only after all pre-orders have been fulfilled. ***NOTE: Some customers have inquired about increased shipping costs for the book, given the long delay. For pre-orders where postage has already been paid, no additional shipping costs will be due as Three Hands Press will cover any increases on this title.
Ugh, I just ordered Penumbrae from them because I couldn't find it anywhere else. Does this mean I'm screwed and will never see my book? I ordered it two days ago and still haven't gotten an update on shipping or anything and I'm getting concerned. 😬
My understanding is that shipping with them can take many weeks. I saw in their News that they mentioned shipping delays on multiple occasions. Give it the standard 90 days and then ask for a charge back with your payment provider before their time limit is up.
@@MissTeaAddict I got a second email saying my order is complete so I'm assuming it shipped already. At least I hope so. I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for the advice 🙏
Oh, my that is so disappointing. I preordered The Witches Cabinet back this summer and the due date has been pushed back 3 times and then they say it wasd going to be shipped around the holidays.... Nothing yet but understand with covid delays. But, I also heard nothing back the 2 times I gave a polite inquiry... guess it's a common issue with them. Thanks got this info. Greatly appreciated. Blessings. 🙏
Supposedly The Witches Cabinet has been released. Book Depository had it in stock so it's been sent to me. But with postage delays they've told me that it will take 15-20 business days to arrive. I'll be shocked if THP has actually finally released a book.
Yeah I ordered the Witches Cabinet through Amazon because I just couldn't bring myself to trust ordering from THP directly. I know if I keep ordering from them directly an order will be lost at some point and I will have no way of contacting them about it since they don't reply to anything.
Zero customer service. Also have been unable to reach anyone via social media. Very disappointed. Gave up attempts 3 years ago. Basically they have stolen peoples money.
Yep, they have comments turned off, and don't read messages. It's left a really bad taste in my mouth to the point that even now, I wouldn't buy Green Mysteries.
Preordered since 2016. No communication which was bad enough. But then subsequent orders (normal, not preorders) I bought and paid for also never arrived, no communication, and no refund. I find it heartbreaking because I love the books I have. But it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth to see more and more books coming out when this has never been addressed and in fact, they threaten people who do ask. (Ie. Don't ask or you wont get the book, or saying "customers in good standing" are going to get their books. That's not how this works. YOU are in bad standing.) Also many false promises, "new release dates," never receiving the smaller book they said they'd send out around Christmas to those who had preordered, etc. This makes the authors look really bad too. Is your book really 'published' if paying customers aren't receiving them? I'd go to a different publisher in a heartbeat.
I agree. I have both those book on preorder and there communication is no existent. at one point i thought the company had closed as nothing was heard from them. They need to communicate with their customers. it really is a shame as their books are fantastic. I live in hope. 😁 By the way, Congratulations of making another fantastic and even handed video.
I was wondering if they had closed too! I'll order both books if they ACTUALLY get released but i'm not going to hold my breath. Thank you :) I try to present the facts and be objective where possible.
That's appalling! It seems these books are still in the making (or rather the author has the intention/ is contracted to write it), when advertised hence the long wait. Helpful video, thank you for the info. Surely there's an ombudsman you could contact.
As they're based in the US I'm not aware of the relevant laws. But thankfully Book Depository gave me a full refund on the preordered books. My suggestion to anyone purchasing would be to use PayPal and know your rights to a refund (you need to lodge a dispute within 180 days of payment).
why do these pukes keep deleting my comments?. I am not writing anything nasty. Just wondering if you ever received Green Mysteries. The site now says it is sold out. I ordered an expensive book from them and received it rather quickly. I now feel like a dodged a bullet. Witch's Cabinet came out yesterday. It doesn't look to have been pushed back
Addendum: It appears THP set the date for release of Witch's Cabinet back from Oct. 11 to Nov. 18. I am going by Amazon. Amazon says "Currently Unavailable" and a release date of Nov. 18 THP website still has Oct. 11, which would make one believe it has been released, but I don't think it has. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Waiting is fine but the deceptive preorder dates are not. I made this video a year ago and the same date-pushing keeps happening for all of their titles, just as it did in 2020 and 2019. They have not released any books in over 2 years and now are not sending orders for books that were published years ago. If they have gone under (which they seem to have) they need to be honest about it to their customers.
Have many 3HP 1st editions; they are beautiful and unique works! Ordered Green Mysteries when it was announced back in 2016; am staying patient but expect to see some sort of honest update for loyalists like myself; nothing. The fact that the website has not been updated in last summer is making me wonder if they are out of $$ and about to go under.
@@michaelcraft6381 im wondering the same. We'll see if they send me a Christmas card this year. Gosh, that must cost them a fair bit to send out each year.
The Green Mysteries has been release summer 2019. I just checked. The thing is about Daniel Schulke's books is that they are bought at such a high demand when they are released. He is one of the best authors out there for this subject. With so many orders placed and with very limited time to get those books shipped, I can imagine it would take this long. I don't understand why a lot of you can not be patient and will take it out on them. Perhaps you just don't understand from a bigger picture. They aren't something huge, like Penguin Random House or Arkham House, etc. Even before these books, like with Viridarium Umbris, they took a very long time to be shipped to the people who ordered them. I know Daniel Schulke is not very well known about, except through his works, but you are making him look bad over the issues that have been recurrent. But, when those people finally did get their copies, they appreciated it more because the writing was well done and extremely knowledgeable. It's too bad you didn't stick with it. His books can be very difficult to find, and his deluxe and special editions are worth thousands.
Hi Nyte Fox, I actually had The Green Mysteries preordered so can confirm that it definitely was not released in Summer of 2019. I am happy for creators to take their time but it's not very good business practice to take people's money and then not deliver the product within a reasonable time frame such as 2 years (which is the longer side of pre-order campaigns on websites such as kickstarter). It would have been better to put the copies up for pre-order just before printing, not when they have just begun to be written. The Green Mysteries has taken almost 5 years at this point. I imagine that most people who ordered have moved in that time so shipping will be a nightmare if the orders are ever fulfilled. As mentioned, I actually do have some of Schulke's other books and the print quality is not very good (even though I purchased directly from Three Hands Press, which is why they send me Christmas cards every year). His writing is good but it's not "take my money and send me a book in 5+ years if i'm lucky" good.
@@MissTeaAddict I looked into it a little more last night, and I forgot that I had come across it not being released yet. However, I will point out again that his books have always taken this long to release. This is very much normal for them since the start of his books. He purposely keeps many things obscure, which could explain why nothing much has been updated on the books. Also, I found that he was making 600 copies of the deluxe and nearly 200 copies for the special. His deluxe and special versions include handmade things, including the book cover. This could explain a part of the reason it is taking so long. I don't know if he has finished writing or if he is trying to accumulate for the high demand he will be getting. Either way, I see no problem in him taking his time to make sure they are released. The ones who wait for his books usually do not regret it. His writing style is quite obscure in Archaic English, giving a sense of a genuine work. His books are of a rare novelty that you can't get just anywhere, but for a very good reason. The art of which he writes about is meant to be obscure to begin with. Most other stuff I read like this is pretty alright and gives some great details. With his books, however, he manages well to keep it traditional and updated at the same time. This is why his books end up being sold back on market for far higher than they were bought.
@@nytefox2228 my only issue is, that things that aren't completed shouldn't be put up for pre-order. If they needed funding they should do a Kickstarter with plenty of warning about long lead times.

Another deadline for The Green Mysteries just slipped (July 27th, 2022) 🙄
I am not surprised 😅
There was a small tear in the middle of my Scottish witches and warlocks book I ordered and I contacted them about it and heard absolutely nothing back in response. I would expect that even if they can't replace the book (limited copies available that sort of thing) that they would at least respond explaining that, offer a coupon for my next order, something. but no: I just have to deal with it. you get what you get and like it.
That's so bad! Silence seems to be their customer service philosophy, sadly.
Absinthe Publishing on ebay is the same way. Be careful if you run across them.
I dont think they actually check their emails. It's worth a shot though.
Report them to the California Department of Consumer affairs. I was directed to this agency as being the proper channel for making meaningful reports against THP, since they are based in Hercules, California.
any luck? I was one of the first to preorder and still no response or book
Hopefully they've gotten better. I ordered Trutmezzer: A Blade of Two Ways as soon as the email said it was available and got it a couple weeks later.
Law suits are effective.
On the bright side, Daniel Schulke is basically giving other publishers a master class on how not to run a business, and all for free, so that's nice of him, right?
🤣 Very true!
Good to know. I only really got into THP in recent weeks but I had similar experiences with Hellfire Club Books. I only preorder from Troy, Anathema Publishing, and Aeon Sophia Press at this point.
Oh no! That's disappointing to hear. I do love Troy Books and had great experiences with them in the past.
Aeon Sophia Press is a nightmare to get refund from if you want to cancel your pre-order. Anathema and Troy I had good experiences with as well.
Hellfire Club is even worse IMHO; Three Hands will issue a refund for delayed preorders; HFC will not. Paypal stopped serving them due to the many requests for refunds.
Sounds like they're taking the money and not delivering the goods. they need to be investigated
April 4, 2021 & no new editions seem to have appeared...
I'm shocked 😂
I ordered GM back in 2016. I was relentless with them after the missed their 2nd pub date. Be persistent. Be annoying. You might get your money back like I did.
did you? I've been persistent to and still nothing. I was one of the first to order. How did you reach out?
is their anyway to contact them iv'e been waiting for my books since november 2020
Not that I'm aware of. I think they used to have a contact form on their website but I never received a response. And all of their social media has commenting turned off.
same here, they dont respond to any emails. All their comments or messeging is shut off on social media
@@MissTeaAddict I feel for those who still haven’t gotten their refunds. I hope they get their money back.
When you say "sometimes you have to keep messaging them" how many times are you talking about because I have yet to get a reply after several emails requesting a refund.
Question: Do you feel the same now that Green Mysteries has been released?
Yep! I don't think I'll ever be able to bring myself to buy or read the book. Anything published by THP now just has this taint of yuckiness due to my own experiences dealing with them, along with the experience of others.
@@MissTeaAddict Fair enough.
Even with the release, there are tons of customers such as myself who were some of the first to preorder the book. Who still have no response from THP and still have not received their copy of the book
@@mycorrya No one should be able to walk into a bookstore and pick up a copy of something that someone else still hasn't got their preorder for.
Its November 2021, their website currently says ( as of August 2021) GM will be released Sept 29, 2021.
Looking forward to the update saying itll be available on the Spring Equinox 2022.....
Yep! It'll be a shocking day if it ever actually gets to print at this point 😅
Book was supposed to ship this month with an email confirmation just prior. Only radio silence as per usual.
I did see the announcement that they were shipping. I had a quick browse on instagram and a small handful of people seem to have a copy in their hands. But yeah, THP customer service is non existent 😅
I almost pre-ordered Green Mysteries hours ago... Thanks for the video.
Oh no! Hopefully, you are able to get a refund through paypal or your bank.
@@MissTeaAddict Thank you, I think I still have a few weeks left with paypal and will start a claim ASAP. A shame really.
@@crushingalldeceivers Agreed. So many authors have signed contracts to have their books published and now they're in limbo waiting on THP 😥
I just found this update today on their site:
THE GREEN MYSTERIES, general release
By Daniel A. Schulke
Updated release date: 29 September, 2021
Hardcover and softcover editions of The Green Mysteries will be released September 29, 2021 (please note that this date does not apply to retail booksellers, only to Three Hands Press) and begin shipping to customers in the sequence in which orders were received as soon as we have stock. Special and deluxe editions will follow in 1-2 months’ time after hand binding. The title is sold out, but we have had a small number of cancelled
orders.
Yeah they do that every few months. They had one like that up in February, and October last year. I'm not holding my breath.
Even with the update Ive still yet to recieve the book. I was one of the first to preorder
Curious have you received your book?
I agree 100%
I agree. I have both those book on preorder and there communication is no existent. at one point i thought the company had closed as nothing was heard from them. They need to communicate with their customers. it really is a shame as their books are fantastic.
I live in hope. 😁
By the way, Congratulations of making another fantastic and even handed video.
I was wondering if they had closed too! I'll order both books if they ACTUALLY get released but i'm not going to hold my breath. Thank you :) I try to present the facts and be objective where possible.
The are too expensive . . . anyway!
Thank you for the info.!💜
No worries. I just can't stand seeing others lose money to businesses that have a history like this which they are unaware of.
That's why I don't pre order books
why do these pukes keep deleting my comments?.
THP website still has Oct. 11, which would make one believe it has been released, but I don't think it has. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I also was one of the first to order, I still havent seen my copy. Still no responses
Uh oh I just pre ordered a book from them...fuck lol
WAIT NVM ITS TROY PUB. LMAO THANK GOD
Troy Books are awesome. Thankfully with buying online, you're usually covered with PayPal as long as it's within x amount of months (I think it's 3).
did you recieve it from Troy Books?
I've yet to recieve it. Preordered directly from THP when was first announced
i have 1st editions of Veneficum and Thirteen Pathways. You cant imagine how much i'm looking forwards to the green mysteries. Be patient.
@@michaelcraft6381 lets hope not.
@@michaelcraft6381 im wondering the same. We'll see if they send me a Christmas card this year. Gosh, that must cost them a fair bit to send out each year.
I was one of the first to order, still havent seen my copy. Still no response. And now its available on amazon...
