The roots of FT was when the into music actually made pay attention and the videos weren't just in the background. When Windedtpl regularly visited and they did crazy projects like edf after burners and actually tested planes that weren't made by FT FT is still great and do great things. But I miss the old FT before they where bought# before scripts and corporate sensibilities.
Did all kind of crazy stuff. FT Blender enlarged to 1.2m (47"), powered by 4x XA-2212 8045 prop, FlyGuy Iron Man and Superman, high speed plane with 1 aileron, 3xF22 formation, 2-motor drone, 3-motor drone, flying shark, auto gyro with counter rotating rotors, X-29, VTOL Delta wing. Most of them own design and scratch built, but some redesigned Flitetest stuff too and some prototypes of Otto Diefenbach.
I won’t ever get tired of you guys!!! I’ve been watching almost since day one and I’m a founding member. I had my medallion framed. Just had to write another BIG THANK YOU for so many smiles, laughter and inspiration!!! May God Bless you all…. 🙏
HD Zero is fantastic, my favorite fpv vid system. Amazingly flexible and improving constantly. So happy to see it here. Planes flew way better than I thought, good vid!
The first time I tested multiple ExpressLRS receivers running from the same transmitter I had you folks in mind and couldn't wait to see what you'd do. So awesome to see you really using that feature to simplify your designs and make inspiring stuff like strapping 3 whole planes together! 😂
Great video as always. A “split apart switch” is a must. And it would be interesting to see how you get it to maintain its “whole” integrity in flight, before splitting apart. Blessings.
I'll be honest, "3 Planes - 1 Pilot" was awesome, but "1 Plane - 3 Pilots" is what I really want to see. One pilot controls throttle/elevator, one controls right aileron, one controls left aileron.
Here in the UK, we did this with 9 aircraft all together. The famous 9 ship Red Arrow Diamond formation. Flew very well. I'm sure it's on TH-cam somewhere.
Awesome idea joining those together, and a great way to debut the new plane. Not only does it fly great by itself, but you can frankenstein them together for even more fun. 😂 Call it the Franken-Fighter and sell the kit to do it just in time for Halloween!
You need to put that thrust vector nozzle on that and see how the canard handles that stress and speed. You should also have a retractable landing gear system . But great video as always gentlemen
Honestly, when I read "3 planes, 1 pilot," I was picturing 3 separate planes paired to 1 transmitter, launch, and see what happens. Edgewater's the only place I'd try that cause that's risky... This is more sensible!
Now that sounds like an idea... The ultimate teamwork exercise. One pilot controlling the elevator, one the ailerons, one the throttle, and one the rudder. Chaos and hilarity guaranteed!
When calculating the center of lift OR center of gravity the moments simply ADD. Pick any datum point to re-calculate the moments. So if each of the 3 separate planes were in balance then the moments of the 3 combined should be balanced !
A west coast RC pioneer, Ken Willard, built a four ship, F-11 Tiger Blue Angle formation ship, lead had the engine, the two and three ship the outer wing panels the ailerons, and the ship four, the wing was the elevator, it flew many times, including in an Air Show at Moffett Naval Air Station, in front of the real Blue Angle crews. For the second year, two other fliers built single ships, and flew ships 5 and 6. One of the singles made a too low inverted pass and right in front of the dignitaries, slammed it into the ground, balsa parts everywhere.
I've enjoyed watching FT videos from the very beginning of the channel. I think it might be a good idea to move to 4k 60 fps format. There is a lot of motion, details and beautiful scenery in FT videos that 4k 60 fps could present properly. Technology has matured enough.
How about same configuration, 3 pilots? All three planes still hard mounted to each other but each one is controlled by a different radio so the pilots have to work together.
please make a Bartini Beriev VVA-14 one of my favorite aircrafts ever.. if you can please make it, and i think it's gonna be a good bit of a challenge to make since it's technically not meant to fly like an aircraft.. soo yahh if you guys can please do it.. much love..
Hi guys, as always amazing video, i'd like to ask how much it would be to ship makerfoam 20 pack (not 50 cuz i dont have enough money) to italy. BTW amazing designs
Darn was hoping they flew independently with each receiver getting the same signal from the controller. But those receivers stay within a few inches of each other so they don’t drift out.
I hate being "that guy" but for me they're tethered too close together to look realistic/believable. Still cool. I enjoyed watching the video... even though I got a headache trying to understand how the radio worked with the three planes and their respective control surfaces. 😊
Do you guys have an email? I have some foam board you guys might be interested in. I did a bunch of testing earlier this year, came up with a combo, and now I’m manufacturing this board in Portland. I currently produce a pusher jet builders kit, and I am working on 3 more models with this board. I’ve pulled over 13g’s on the pusher with a 37” wing with no spar! This stuff is amazing. Would love to send you some to get some feedback. Thanks!
I tried to build that plane from his plans YEARS ago. I built it out of different foamboard because I was a noooob. CG was impossible, and it was heavy as could be.
Going back to the roots of FT, building weird stuff that you can build too! I love it, let's see more of this in the future!

It's almost like the XB-70 Valkyrie and it's chase planes before the big one!

Well this video gets a “Super Like” just for the 16:00 minute mark!! 👍💯 Awesome plane and video guys!! 😎⚓️

I built my first foam glider at 11 bc of you. I couldn’t afford a remote. A month later I made a MASIVE cargo glider.
Edit: thanks for the heart
That was too cool!! Nice to see my idea worked so well! It looks fantastic in flight!
Split the formation midflight?
Heck yeah, do it!
HD Zero is fantastic, my favorite fpv vid system. Amazingly flexible and improving constantly. So happy to see it here. Planes flew way better than I thought, good vid!
Glad to see you guys are still making videos.
Absolutely brilliant guys. Always pushing aviation out side the box. 👍🏻
I missed these weird, "will it fly" vids! Yay🎉

Thank you!
Ok so who wants to see 4, 5, or even 6 of them tie together? Pretty cool guys!
SuperFabulantastic !! Gracias FliteTest Saludos Cordiales Desde Latinoamerica..

Another fantastic video! Can’t wait to build my own spacefighter!
Thank you, brother. It’s an absolute blast of both build and fly.
I'll be honest, "3 Planes - 1 Pilot" was awesome, but "1 Plane - 3 Pilots" is what I really want to see. One pilot controls throttle/elevator, one controls right aileron, one controls left aileron.

It is awesome how it looks like 3 planes flying in tight formation. It would be awesome to expand it and do it with blue angel themed planes!
YES!!! Maybe In the next video
I noticed that Josh was previewing the '24 Flite Fest shirt. Looks great!
Thanks, we are glad someone noticed
Excellent job my friends
Thank you! Cheers!

It looks like the aircraft out of the Clent Eastwood movie
FIREFOX
@FliteTest hey jus ta question, can the RadioMaster Boxer M2 do all or most of what the TX16S does (aside form less switches)?
I saw something like this many many years ago. Four planes in diamond formation. Done up like the blue angels.
"I cant see a possible thing that could go wrong!"
~Cleetus McFarland lol
So cool. I’ve wanted to take your simple f18 chuck gliders and figure out a way to form a powered Blue Angel diamond formation Would love to see it
I have a challenge for you. Put 4 together with one able to release and fly up for a missing man formation. That would be super impressive.
You need to put that thrust vector nozzle on that and see how the canard handles that stress and speed. You should also have a retractable landing gear system . But great video as always gentlemen
That would be so cool if you could make a blue angels or Thunderbird formation like that
Honestly, when I read "3 planes, 1 pilot," I was picturing 3 separate planes paired to 1 transmitter, launch, and see what happens. Edgewater's the only place I'd try that cause that's risky... This is more sensible!

@@SolarWebsite well that would be 1 plane, 3 pilots. That WOULD be absolutely hilarious!!! This I'd like to see.

Oh yeah, let's see them break formation and fan out left and right during a vertical climb!
We will have to do that in a future episode!!!
Looks like Firefox from the Clint Eastwood movie 👌😎

You’re wearing the new Flite Fest 2024 shirt. Nice
Yesss
A release mechanism would put this build over the top!
I would guess cg is pretty simple if you know each original.
Should be 2/3 back from front cg closer to the matching rear cg.
So cool 😎 easiest way to fly formation with three planes 😅
How about same configuration, 3 pilots? All three planes still hard mounted to each other but each one is controlled by a different radio so the pilots have to work together.

We can find out for you. email "support@flitetest.com" and they will be able to help you
I'd like to see you build a drone big enough for this plane to sit between the frame and do a air drop launch
I'd be rather interested in seeing you create an oblique wing RC plane.
Darn was hoping they flew independently with each receiver getting the same signal from the controller. But those receivers stay within a few inches of each other so they don’t drift out.
I love your video and sorry I was late
Have you tried formation flying in a similar way?
No but one of our Audience members tried it before us
@@FliteTest and?????
How are you dealing with the FAA law ????
Bad link on the scratch build plans.
It’s like world of warships. Fighter squadron flying out 😂
That thing is screaming "EDF ME PLEASE!"
The OG design on RC groups has an EDF version.

i might have been expecting a release mechanism when i clicked the thumbnail 😅
36k views? 99 comments? 2.14 mil subs? No waaay these guys are fudging their numbers
Could you build a micro jet?
BIG TWIN OTTER?🤫
It would have been great to have been mentioned by name. JOE LECOURTOIS put those 4 Alphas together!!!
Thank you for the inspiration Joe!
HD0 needs to rebrand, they may be digital but they're anything but HD. Though mathematically it checks out.

whats the flight fest 24 schedule
It’ll be posted soon. Check out Flitefest.com over the next couple days and weeks as it develops.

Looks like the plane in Fire Fox
🤠
5 planes next?
What about 3 pilots one plane one for throttle one for pitch one for roll
My brain hurts !
Why!!!
Can I have one?
If they're all mechanically linked/connection together then its just one plane in the end......
So… if I wanted to steal Dave’s airplane, all i would have to do is put “The David” in to my ELRS remote?
Sounds like you cracked the code
