Considering how many 6*s are in the game now, you'd be better off waiting until the next 6* selector comes around (if you're willing to drop some money). If not, your best bet is to wait for a Surtr standard banner, which might be a ways off because she was on a recent standard banner.
Off banner? Yeah, but I got both mudrock and surtr from their standard rate up banner lol, so i normally pull on standard banners if both characters I want. Also, mlynar please leave me, you're always the one who appears when I get an offbanner
I'm glad Mina is checking out more gacha games but I feel like it going be harder to get into Arknights, one of selling point is the story its like 50% of the game in my opinion she skipping lot of dialogue already. Chapter 0 has 20k words in it the later event like Roaring Flare and near light got 200k plus words alone I do hope she keep playing the game to see all the cool characters.
Personally, I don’t care about the Arknights story when I play, but I’m more of a Mina watcher than an Arknights watcher. I totally agree that she might not get the growth she expects if she skips the story though.

I get where ur coming from. It took me a couple tries to get into arknights. Not because of the story but similar to Mina, the tower defense aspect and thinking. Eventually, when u become a little patient is when u can gradually get into it. I only got into it eventually because I decided to randomly try again at a period where life got busy and I like wasting my time inside the game thinking
Like to revisit this stream sometimes and on one hand backseaters and chatters are silly but on the other yeah this game definitely has a little more of a learning curve to get into since it’s not like every other game. It has its niche but it does its niche really well. It excels and what it does and dosent hide its mistakes. Hopefully she could go a different route with this game one day like checking out the skins, the music etc since story isn’t her thing

Skipping story means that's you will not be hooked by one of the best part of the franchise. And skipping tutorials means that you will hit a wall of high difficulty stages unprepared, and will stuck there. Will the visual appeal of characters be enough? Will you just become an another confirmation of "EN can't read" meme? Or will you actually accept the challenge?

I actually think AK is harder than dark souls unless you copy online strats, and even then people still manage to fail.
Pure copium is certainly nice to see, although you could get a guarantee surtr from a 6* selection pack in the next limited event coming in about 1 month
Arknights requires brainjuice but if you take the time to learn roles, unit positioning, your characters skills, and enemy mechanics it becomes much more simple

everyone keeps saying it’s a great game but i really can’t get into it myself i can’t spend money in most games i play and for arknights it seems to hinder any progression pretty badly after a certain point so for this reason i have filtered out arknights and replaced it with nikke and blue archive both of which seem to have gotten improved rates since i played on my first account for both the games which i have abandoned my first account for both those games but have a new account that is doing pretty good and blue archive seems to have alot of ways to get the gacha currency now and is pretty free to play friendly

you just need to read some bits of the campaign to understand the story, reading other stuff is optional lol
