Oh wow, You've made my decision more difficult. I think I have a 3 way tie with the 1000w Ranger S, the Velotric nomad and Tesway X5 for range. I'm near Kingston Ontario and the lake district to the north. Stunning roads and trails here but hilly. Your reviews are very helpful and much appreciated!
That is a tough decision! Sorry to make your decision even harder. I haven't reviewed a Tesway X5. Maybe I will get a chance this year. Thanks for watching!
Finally! The very first Ranger S 1000w review on TH-cam! The only torque sensing, 1000 watt folding e-bike ever to currently exist! Wondered why everyone else negleglcted to ever review it after being out for a whopping 5 months already!
@@dgrimes34 All the folding bikes with Mag wheel have 4" tires. With that said, you should be able to put 3" tires on any of those with the 4" mag wheels.
It says online that to make Heybikes more affordable, they use lower quality components that may not have as long a life nor not work as well as higher quality components, but how quick it fully recharges - 3 hours, is terrific - and most of the recharging is done in the first one third, plus, with that, it's recommended not to fully recharge a battery / not to let it drop to zero - so a two hour recharge in all; the folding aspect is beneficial also. Great video!!
@@kp9952 I always charge my bikes to 100% charge. The only time I ride them to 0% is during a review. If you only want to charge your 2 hours then so be it. I don't keep a bike long enough to worry about how long the battery will last, so I can't really agree or disagree with you on that. I also charge my phone to 100% often as well.
I just put mine together yesterday. It has a lot of torque. We use ours for ring and hunting . We hunt up in Ohio so there are some good hills to climb.Love it so far it's much more powerful that the 750 watt I have now. This bike will be great for hunters. Thanks for the review.
How well will it haul hunting gear like your mobile deer stands , climbers , hang on etc. on the back rack and yourself through rough terrain ? Will it climb out of ditches / creek banks on motor alone with yourself and gear ? Could it pull a cargo trailer with a deer in it or corn ?
@Crayz919 it does pretty good on the hill's we have . I do keep it in low gear to help it when I go up steap hill's. I throttle and start pedaling when it slows down. It will pull a wagon but you can put a bag if corn on the back rack. I put my climbing stand on my back to set it up then I have a back pack that holds my bow for hunting.
Damn you, Scott.....I have no room in my place for another bike but now doing some serious thinking after seeing this. I am trying to justify why I need this when I have my Aventon Ramblas sitting next to me.
I've been looking for a foldable ebike that could fit in my car and I think this one is it. The things I like about this bike is the 1000 watt motor and the fact that it can carry up to 400 pounds. That's great for heavier riders like myself. I weigh 300 pounds. I also like the idea that it has a folding frame. That means I can take it anywhere I want to go ride. I live in Maine and I have plenty of ideas of places I'd like to go for a ride. I'll be looking into buying one of these for the upcoming riding season next spring.
Scott I'm confused, when I look up what a class 3 e-bike is , everything im reading states 28 mph by pedal assist only not throttle and pedal assist, what I'm reading online states that this bike would be a class 4 because it exceeds 28 mph via the throttle or by pedal assist, cool bike all the same excellent review as always.
They may now have a category for these. I have not yet heard of a Class 4 ebike. If a bike is a Class 4, unless advertised as such, I wouldn't know until road testing it.
You could go faster than 20mph. With the app you can unlock the speed limit to a max of 25mph (with pedal assist only). It's so fun! I'm over 3000km on it so far.
Scott in your opinion is the Heybike Ranger better for seniors than the Velotric Fold 1? My wife and I have been going back and forth trying to decide between these two bikes.
I really like the Fold 1. The Ranger S is more aggressive and has more power for sure. If I was a senior and power is a concern, I would go with the Fold 1.
I really enjoyed this video. As usual you included all the necessary features, and the riding part quality was clear and informative. I'm in the market for a folding bike with power and a torque sensor (live in a hilly area). With these criteria, would you choose this bike or the Engwe Engine Pro 2.0? Or is there a different bike you would recommend? Thank you very much for your help.
The Ranger S has a great torque sensor and its power is very impressive. I would pick this over the ENGWE Engine Pro 2… and I really liked that bike so that should tell you something.
In the case that your e-bike runs out of battery while riding, there is another option: continue to ride! The motor on the e-bike is only assisting your pedalling, not doing all the work, and you can still ride the bike as normal without the pedal assist ~ this correct with this bike, yes?
@@JJ-qj5bg No more than I show you at the 11:18 minute mark when I am riding with no assist. Any fat tire bike is not one that you want to ride long distances without power but it is possible at around 9mph. You will feel it!
Love this bike review. But, with so much power and the ability to go over 30 mph, it needs a bigger battery like a 20 amp 960 Wh battery. Going fast will drain that 14 amp battery so quick!
I like these style step-thru cargo bikes with the smaller wheels. easier for me to use on a daily basis. it looks like a nice bike. Scott, what happens if u buy an eBike and the company goes out of business and u need another battery? Are batteries proprietary?
Most batteries are proprietary but there are now companies out there that can rebuild a battery. Heybike has been around for awhile so I don't think that is a concern with this one.
🤔 So this Hey bike Ranger S has me intrigued. The sheer power and huge torque is very appealing. But at the same time seeing the front wheel pop up and the rear tire almost pop out upon maximum braking is a little concerning. Is there such a thing as too much power? Probably not, just take a little attention until getting used to it. Feature wise I'm a big fan of the big brake light and the turn signals. I hope to see it with the baskets installed, even if it is just in a short video. Thanks for this review.
I feel there is a thing as too much power. Luckily, they have this bike pretty dialed in. Now the review is over, I do plan on putting on the racks. I will do a short when its done.
How is the torque sensor compared to the Aventon Aventure 2? I have yet to find a torque sensor that compares to aventon except for my specialized turbo vado 4 which is just a Cadillac
What bikes would you recommend for avid deer hunter 46 years old and i need step through possibly, I'm 6ft 200lbs and need something dependable that can get me through rough terrain with my gear & myself on all motor and go up inclines and ditches etc. I feel like i need a dual motor step through full suspension, i looked at the Tuttio seeker 24 & 26 dual motor 4000w and 5000w ? Please give advice!
Oh man, I am not a hunter, so I would not feel confident in recommending a bike a for you. Luckily, I see where you commented on a person who does use this bike for hunting so I hope you find your answer.
That's a hard one. The Kommoda 2.0 has the advantage of being full suspension. The Ranger S is foldable. If you are not going to fold it, then the Kommoda 2.0 is my choice.
