I personally agree with AbuTorab with the benefits of wearing a thobe/jubbah. This is bcz if someone was to see you on the streets, they could tell that so and so is a muslim and not a hindu or a jew or something else. But I also agree with brother Zaid cuz they would feel a bit more open.
As well as this it can be a deterrence towards fitnah as it makes u aware of the clothing u are wearing and the responsibility u have took upon ur self by wearing such clothes
