yes!! The Muppet Christmas Carol has been my favorite Christmas movie since I was a child and I will forever be astounded by the dedication, effort, and detail put into a film that could have easily been overlooked. Thanks for putting words to the thoughts I've had all these years!
For me, the absolute best film version of 'A Christmas Carol' is the 1951 film starring Alistair Sim. He really captures Scrooge's humanity under the gruffness, and you can see how much he was hurt as a young man (as played by George Cole). His transformation on Christmas morning and his surprising of Bob Cratchit are the best I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. That said, I have a great respect for 'Muppet Christmas Carol'. The decision to play it absolutely straight was crucial. There is humor, but it grows out of the situation. There are jokes for adults ('Our assets are frozen!') as well as for children. The clincher is the opening number, in which the audience doesn't see Scrooge's face until he reaches his counting house.
As far as Christmas Carol adaptations? Agreed, alongside the Jim Carrey film. As far as Muppet Christmas content? It's second place, only behind A Muppet Family Christmas
@@disneydevotee I replied to your comment under mine with a link to the "Muppet Family Christmas" special on TH-cam but I don't know if you saw, because it's not counted as a comment
Good video but when it comes to Disneys Christmas Carol I actually prefer the mouse over the frog. So, did you mean all 3 versions of The Grinch or just the Jim Carey movie
I _want_ to love this movie. I do like it; but it bothers me that they make Scrooge's younger self already. nearly as cynical as his older self becomes-- in the book, he. gets to remember who he once was-- and that Scrooge's nephew Fred is more thoughtless, less kind, than he is in the book. ...And I also do not think the movie is complete without Belle's song.
It's not even in the top 3. The 1951 version with Alistair Sim, the 1984 version with George C. Scott, and Scrooged are all better adaptations of A Christmas Carol.
Thanks for watching! Happy holidays!

Oh I don't see it but I'll look for it on TH-cam!
I never understood what Kermit saw in Miss Piggy. Are you gonna reverse that
Miss Piggy is very forceful, that's for sure!
Would you claim Mickey's Christmas Carol as a very close second
Oh absolutely! No doubt about it

All versions of the Grinch, really lol
