you legend, exactly what i was looking for. Tried my 65w charger with a crap cable and got an error saying it was insufficient to power the laptop. Got a 96w mac charger to help out and glad to see because of your video that it will work!
Yeahhh, not all laptops have this feature. You more than likely do have a USB-C port on your laptop but it's just a display port. You need to have a laptop with a USB-C "PD" port in order to charge your laptop with a USB-C cable. If you plug it in to the USB-C display port, nothing will happen, lol. Also, your power brick must produce at least 65w in order to use a USB-C cable to charge your laptop. I had/have the 2020 Lenovo Legion 5 15imh05h 8y6000dus gaming laptop. It did have this feature, but I never used it. I did once, but the only times I've used it was when I was gaming or transferring files to another pc. The 65w pd port wasn't really made to charge the laptop while using it heavily, like gaming. That's why they come with the massive 230+ watt power supplies. But, if you're only checking your email, browsing the internet and doing other light activities, then youd be fine. But, they're really meant to charge your laptops. Not really to be charging your laptop while using it.
This video was very useful for me. Not only did it help me realize that I can charge my laptop through its Type-C port, but it also guided me to buy the right cable. The 3A cable that came with my phone didn't work, so I purchased a 5A one, which did. Thanks!
