    Having owned a Chrysler voyager 2.5crd for almost 11 years , travelled up and down the country numerous times I love the old tub, it achieves good mpg don't feel tired or pained after hours at the wheel, it has only let me down on one occasion and that was a slightly corroded cable to the starter and I was up and running again in minutes.
    Agree the seats are a pain the backside to remove I just run mine as a four seater to take full advantage of the cavernous boot, which holds two huge dog crates , I can also wheel my bike straight in when I head out for cycling in the country , camp in it , use it as a van, can't think there are many vehicles out there that could do all these things better and all for an initial price tag of£1800,
    Admittedly I find the best way to drive it is lazily and just let it ease its way along , unlike yourself I am a diesel fan and not owned anything else for over 20 years ,
    The old thing is starting to get tired now and not looking it's best but will keep it till it finally dies

      Thanks for your comment. I realize that some people love these cars. I just can't stand it squealing the tyres on every single corner. But I probably drive too fast for the Chrysler designers. I hope you manage to keep it alive for many more years.

    I don’t understand your issue with this diesel. It is one of the smoothest diesels out there. Its faster than the 3.3 v6, and it only drinks 8L/100km, which is nothing for 2.0 tones

    • @DannsBangers

      I have absolutely no problem with the engine (other than it wasn't really designed for the car). In fact the ex-London cab I have has the same engine. It is an OK engine. The manual gearbox, lack of cruise control and handling are absolutely rubbish though. I would say that the engine and the amount of space inside are the only two good points of the car.

    The trouble is you have the wrong version, of this which is a shame! I have a 2005, 2.8, automatic with stow and go seats that fold flat into the floor - and with Cruise Control - it fixes all of the issues you have with that one.. it is literally the BEST car I have ever owned, and I've owned 25 different cars so far 😅 I plan to own CGV's until I can't find them here in the UK anymore.. 😁👌

    • @DannsBangers
      @DannsBangers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment. I agree and I have mentioned that people should buy the automatic one with cruise control. However the cornering was also noisy and it rolled a bit. So hopefully yours handles better too? Or maybe I just drive too fast 😵

  • @KieranGrisenti
    @KieranGrisenti 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Time for an update on this, diesel engines are better for the enviroment now..lol Manual gearbox is better than automatic, cheaper on replacement parts like clutch plates, it sounds more like you just got hold of a badly looked after voyager with dodgy suspension, bad electrics etcs and now you want to sell it on in a similarly crappy condition. Maybe you should research how they should handle and run before you bought your junk version instead of believing it was in perfect condition and make these claims about how its such a bad car

    • @DannsBangers
      @DannsBangers  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow, that is some crazy views you have there. The same diesel engine (even though I hate them) was awesome in the TX4 (yes, another junk car but far far better than in every way tan this pile of rubbish) A good car will still be good even when it is old and the Chrysler Voyager will never be a good car, new or old.

    • @kierangrisenti8373
      @kierangrisenti8373 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apart from you buying the voyager in bad condition, mine has the stow n go seats, no need to take seat out as they fold into the floor, I have the automatic with cruise control, also driven the manual version too, neither of the screeched around corners, all electrics work great even with them being nearly 26 years old, so sounds like you bought yours in bad condition and are complaining based on it not being fixed up and not prepared to fix it either. All cars should be looked after, otherwise they have faults and no car would be classed as good being old. And go look up what the environment stats on diesel to petrol engines, they were right to put in diesel engines, and you'll find now the uk is moving away from petrol engines more in comparison to diesel ones. And as its a MPV, they are not designed to be driven vigorously as you put it, they that's probably half your issues why the clutch cable has stretched if that's all it is, and you'll be lucky if that's all it is.

  • @davidtracy3058

    The manual in this is actually quite good. You just gotta change your bushings; it's stout, and many use them for their modified, high-power MOPARS in the U.S.

    • @DannsBangers
      @DannsBangers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...but the handling of the car is really rubbish and the fact that I need to change the bushings really isn't a good point. Any time anyone says "this car is really good but you need to fix this part often" I don't get the confidence that the car is any good.
      I think this is one of those cars that I dislike and people who do like them will disagree. Just like the fact that I hate the Audi TT and Ford Focus. Both terrible cars and both are loved by others.
      I stand by my assessment. The Chrysler Voyager is rubbish without an Auto gearbox and cruise control.

    • @davidtracy3058
      @davidtracy3058 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DannsBangers The auto gearbox is awful. Also, bushings on a 20 year-old car? That's totally normal to have to replace.

    I wanted this car so much when i was like 19, i loved them at first sight. First one i remember i saw was the 3rd gen. I love cars and i love working on them, yet i still did my drivers licence when i was 23. I Bought my dream car BMW E60 (520i six cylinder) and it was a blast learning on it, even tho it was a money pit. So last year i sold it after almost three years of ownership and i started looking at my second dream car - voyagers, especially IV gen facelifted with 2.5CRDi. I know kinda awful lot about them so i was prepared for everything. I went to look and drive for the first time three voyagers and i went really far because i wanted to buy one, actually i drove four of them, one car salesman had two. And i was so dissapointed, as you said, the clutch and gearbox are horibble, and many of them didn't even got to gear. So if anyone wants a diesel, the only way is the 2.8 automatic. And have in mind that these cars require special care to keep then on the road. The diesels on the IV gen aren't bad if serviced, and as you mentioned the boat motor - thats sorta true but only on 3rd gens 2.5TD (they had separate heads). So i abandoned this option of having a Voyager, if everything is good there is still the goofy electronics. Weird that you haven't had cruise control, i tought that every one had it, but it's possible that UK didnt have everywhere, you guys didnt even get the Grand Voyagers with AWD. One more thing, with the IV gens, the 2.4 litre gas engine doesnt look bad on papers too, but i never driven it.

      That's a great comment. Thanks for the info. Funnily enough my latest car (ex London Taxi - LTI TX4) I think has the same engine. This is according to wikipedia (so it might not be true, I will try to find out). Thanks again for posting your comment, it is great to hear from people who love cars as well. I was looking forward to owning the Voyager and I would give an automatic a go but there are so many other bangers to try first.

    Hi Dann, nice to see a new episode. I can’t understand a car like that not being an automatic. Having said that being the lazy person that I am I want to exert minimal effort when driving nowadays. Using just one arm and one leg being the optimum. Actually cruise control when possible so no legs! Diesels can be good fun though.

      I think we will have to disagree about the diesel part but on the rest of it I agree.
      I can't understand why it was a manual and the lack of cruise control is crazy. My review would have been different if it had those two options. Of course my text review will be on a Cover 45 V6, that is going to be an interesting video.

    We had a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. We had it for 10 years. We brought it along with us during our move to Europe. It had a 3.3L V6 engine, petrol, automatic, longer wheelbase, cruise control and better steering. Better than a Volvo. I've been in shorter wheelbase European models, They can be fine but those have less room.

    firstly, you bought a car without cruis control in 2020, most of us don't accept that. Automatig gearboxes are a pain in the butt to fix if broken, mostly 3000k euros to fix and place one back. So the argument does not stnad, manual ones are cheaper. The engine is rock solid and to be hones you cannot expect enything but anyting from a 1500euros car, except it to breake down....keep up the good work, respect

    • @DannsBangers
      @DannsBangers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that auto boxes are more expensive, however the manual box broke in this car so that also wasn't good.
      I don't think that I could do this channel like I do outside of the UK. I realise how great it is to have cheap cars that actually are not completely broken and you can buy a car in the UK for £500 and run it for years without spending much. (I had a Mercedes C180 for 3 years like this)
      I like the engine on the Voyager, no problems with it.
      I was also very surprised that someone bought this car new (and I guess specified it) without cruise control .
