I just realized that I visited the Tetons from Sept 4-8, 2019 and hiked up into Garnet Canyon in an aborted attempt to summit the Middle Teton on September 7, just 5 days before this video was shot.
@@AdventuresofAplusK You guys do a good job of highlighting your adventures. It looks like you've covered a lot of the same ground I did when I was younger. It's nice to be able to revisit my old haunts vicariously through your videos - keep up the good work!
I "stumbled" on Delta Lake back in 1992 when I took a detour over the saddle from Garnet Canyon. At the time, I didn't even know there was a trail there. My friend and I just bushwacked our way down the mountain. Thanks for posting this video - it brought back great memories!
I actually really appreciate her giving her honest opinion about being nervous and the things that you guys my possibly see. I’d be by myself and I’m a little clumsy..so it’s great to see someone giving me insight on things I was a little skeptical about...great transparency☺️ gives me reassurance
Of course! I definitely get nervous on some hikes, even if they aren’t that sketchy or dangerous, and try to share the parts that may make others nervous so they feel prepared 😃
Just got back from Grand Teton/Yellowstone and your videos was super helpful! A few big things I would add about Delta Lake are 1.) Get to the trail before 7 AM. The parking lot for the Lupine Meadows trailhead was packed by 8 AM. 2.) Be prepped for the elevation gain. That plus the last mile were some of the hardest aspects of the hike. 3.) Maybe avoid any strenuous hikes the day before Delta Lake. You will feel it the next day. A shorter and moderate hike like Taggart will help get you used to the elevation, Again. Thank you for your videos and tips.
So glad the videos were helpful and you’re spot on with your tips! We are huge fans of starting hikes early to avoid crowds and get parking, especially now with COVID. Hope you enjoyed the trail!
Planning a trip for October, and I am so glad I found you guys! My boyfriend and I are also very vigilant and get anxious about bears, so I am SO happy to see you guys be so real about everything. I am getting so excited 🤗
One of my favorite hikes! We actually ended up going the wrong way and had to scale the mountain wall to get down to the lake. Super scary adventure but that lake is outstanding and I'll never forget that hike.
OMG thank you. I was like you reading every review and watching videos. So happy I found your video. I almost talked myself out of this hike. It seems strenuous but not scary in the sense of falling off a cliff. Thank you for your comment about no drop offs because that makes me feel better.

Great job documenting your hike. I was there earlier this summer and really wanted to go to Delta lake but my girlfriend said no was pretty adamant. Hopefully, after she sees this she might let us do it next time we're there.
We hope so too! I really freaked myself out about it, but it truly wasn’t that bad. The worst part were the steep dusty parts, but there were only a few of those. The lake is worth the effort!

Fellow Texans! League City here. Awesome video. We went to Teton last year and did the Lake Solitude trail via Cascade Canyon. Was also a great hike. Got to swim in a glacial lake and really enjoyed that as well. Looking forward to Glacier NP this July. Hope to make it to Highline Trail. That video of yalls brought me here to your site. Amazing.
That sounds awesome! We really want to swim in these lakes, but always chicken out! Haha! And Glacier NP and the Highline Trail are absolutely spectacular, we hope you have a great time 🙌
I'm so excited you posted this and I'm only a few minutes in! Delta Lake was one of the only lakes I never made it to when I lived in GTNP for 3 full summers before social media even existed! If you have time, I highly recommend another hidden gem called timberline lake. It's at the base of buck mountain, it's in the trail books, but another lake/trail that is in the park but not maintained by the park. Also avalanche canyon...wow just wow! The lakes leading up to the "the wall" are mind blowing. Ok, back to the video, thanks for sharing! New sub here
Thank you soooo much for the trail tips! We are already hoping to go back next summer (we definitely didn’t get to do as much as we hoped to do there) and love to find hidden gem hikes. We hope you get a chance to make it back and go to Delta Lake!
We were 3 weeks ago & did the Amphitheater lake hike unfortunately we didn't have enough time to do Delta but uts a 1st for the next trip. I too was worried about Bears my husband not so much, we did see a mother grizzly with cub on the way down, a little nerve racking but she wasn't bothered by us at all.
Thanks for sharing! Now that I see what kind of hike it is, I know I won't be able to do it with my bad knee unfortunately. 😢 But it's good to know what trails to rule out for when I visit.
We’re sorry you’re unable to hike it, but we hope that you enjoyed virtually hiking it with us! 🤗 There are soooo many amazing trails at Grand Teton ranging in difficulty and all with incredible views! 😍
Hi Joe and Gemma, here. We just subscribed to your channel, and we are really enjoying your series, especially the v blog's about the national parks in Utah. Living in the moments with y'all, while also helping us plan our Utah trip on Sept. 8th. 2022. Btw we are Floridians and since we like to drive, we visited The Great Smoky Mountains National Park numerous times and have encountered black bears up and personal. Shot great pics of momma bear with their cubs specially in October when they are fatting up and getting ready for hibernation. We also carry that same bear spray, but we found that for it to be effective the bear has to be ten feet or so from you and in a panic if your aim isn't good then you might have a problem. We saw one time a ranger from the park, scare away a bear from a super long distance with a small air horn can that you can buy at a Walmart or at any sporting goods store. And that is what I carry now along with the bear spray plus a 20lb. backpack full of camera gear, tripod strapped to the bottom of it and a clipped-on camera ready to shoot, LOL. My wife is the smart one, she carries a slinged water bottle and a small point and shoot camera. Again, we can really relate to y all's videos and thanks for inspiring us to visit and explore out west, can't wait.

Did this hike last week because of your video! it ended up raining on us the second we left delta lake.. was pretty scary going down the boulders in the pouring rain, but was a cool experience nonetheless!
Wow disappointment peak sure wasn’t a disappointment! Kathryn was sure worried about those boulder fields but you guys did great definitely better than I could’ve done!
So last year we went and for some reason we thought that the delta lake entrance was through the amphitheater & surprise lake area. Which is AT THE TOP!! By the time we hiked back down and took the right trail off the switchback. We finally got to the part where you had to go straight up to get over into delta lake and our legs were soooo weak!! We couldn’t do it. Such a let down. We are going back the last two weeks in June. We are going to make it this time. The amphitheater and surprise lakes were beautiful though!
Oh no!!! That is such a bummer! That turn off is kind of hidden, so I bet many people miss it. And that last part to the lake was brutal. Have an awesome time in June! We'd love to do amphitheater and surprise in the future!
Glad you are enjoying the van. You’re not missing anything but the heat here in Texas. My only point of disagreement is that the best thing after a long hike is not ice cream. It’s beer !! 🍺 Have fun with your travels
Hahah definitely not missing that heat at all! And if we drank, we're sure that would be a fun celebration at the end of a hike! But we're lame and just stuff our faces with ice cream instead 😉
Loving your videos! I am a fairly new subscriber and have been watching all your Wyoming and Yellowstone content as I plan my trip next April. Yay! I am curious though, what sort of photo camera do you use? I often see it hanging on one of you or attached to the backpacks and as I am in the market for a new camera, I felt compelled to ask. I love my Nikon D3200, but often doesn't take in the big, wide vistas or can't zoom in far enough for a mountain range a distance away, so maybe I am just in market for a zoom lens? Not sure yet, but wanted to ask you for a review of your own! Thanks!
Hi Jamie! Back when we filmed this I had a Nikon D750, but we upgraded my camera since and I have a Sony A7iii and LOVE it! Our Sony A6500 we film with has a 10mm lens which is super useful for wide vistas. All of our gear is listed here if you want to see more: adventuresofaplusk.com/resources/
@@AdventuresofAplusK great okay! I dont have much experience hiking so I was looking to do this in September with a friend or even other people just visiting too.
The boulder fields weren't as bad as the slick dirt portions with nothing to grab onto! I liked it until starting back down. Also, the start of the trail is a little bit different now (well, June '21), we actually missed it by 3/4 of a mile and had to turn back LOL
@@AdventuresofAplusK It looked like a lot smaller patch of dirt here (probably the angle), but we at least had a hand full of divots to kinda latch onto. My wife hated the slipping feeling, and I just told her to embrace it and just slide down. control the slip lol. I thought I was going to have to get carried back down, too. The impact on my knees going back downhill is the most miserable part of the hike.
Great video!! I did this one and will be posting it on my channel in a few days. Its really cool to see it from the perspective of another TH-cam Hiker!!
Hi Sophia, we believe it took us about 5-6 hours! We did stop at the lake for a while and we stopped pretty often to film things, so that slowed us down a bit.
Hi! We don’t really remember, it has been a long time. But we recommend looking at recordings on AllTrails to see how long it has taken others to get a good idea of how long it may take you.
Hey guys! Thank you for this video! We are going to hike this place in August and we are very excited & nervous about grizzlies! How long did it take you guys to hike this place roundtrip? What time did you start the hike? Do you need a permit? Thank you in advance!
Hello! Check out the AllTrails page (tidd.ly/3qQifhC) for a better idea of how long it takes people to hike this trail. I don't totally recall how long it took us, maybe 5-6 hours. It's been awhile so it could've been longer. You do not need a permit for this hike, but you do pay to enter the park. Carrying bear spray is highly recommeded. We have a guide to spending 3 days in Grand Teton that shares more things to do in the park if you're still planning your trip! adventuresofaplusk.com/3-days-grand-teton-national-park Thanks and thanks for watching! Hope that helps
I am terrified of Bears as well! 😳 I carry an obnoxious bear bell on my backpack and I have yet to see any. It sure annoys everyone I hike with… but it totally makes me feel better. 😂
I am so glad you haven’t seen any, stay safe out there! I really am enjoying all of your videos and have been binge watching them all from the beginning. Keep up the great work! Thank you both for all the amazing content! 😊
I did this hike last week, alone 🤣 i didn't see anyone until I was at the lake. Was a little freaked out about bears too and about getting lost on the last section but I made it! Definitely agree that I expected it to be harder based on what I read about it. I was nervous about getting lost going down but luckily by the time I left other people had come up. Followed some other hikers down, it was a completely different way than I took up....not ever sure how I find the lake on my own 😅😅
Ooof I do not remember to be honest, it has been a really long time. I think someone asked this before a while ago and we may have answered. But I do know we started as soon as the sun was up.
I love your vids great quality! I know you guys focus on travel but it would be so cool to see like a how to maintain a healthy life style video from you guys #goals :)
Thanks Jen! We are currently struggling big time with having a healthy routine in the van, but once we get that sorted out we would love to share more!
Adventures of A plus K this is about backpacking but backcountryfoodie.com. Take her meals and make them your own. She’s a registered dietician. It wouldn’t be to hard to adjust them for front country and calories etc. She does an amazing job! “I help backpackers (like you!) make homemade ultralight recipes and meal plan with ease so you can spend less time, money and effort preparing for your adventures.” BTW, awesome videos!
We stayed in our converted van, but we list some good lodging options (and campsites) on our website that hopefully can help! adventuresofaplusk.com/3-days-grand-teton-national-park/
We’re doing some hiking next month (that are totally inspired by your Palo Duro video, by the way). My wife also has a gluten sensitivity and your tips on food definitely help my planning process. I’m going to be getting us some wild Zora foods for our trips as well! I do have a question though. What do y’all use to heat up the water for the food packs? We’re fairly new to hiking so I’m grateful for all your tips. Keep the great videos coming! Much love from a fellow Texan, Houstonian, Longhorn and Astros fanatic! (Love all the UT, H-Town, and Astros gear in the videos 😁)
Ahhh yay! Go horns and stros! 🤘🏼🤘🏼 We have a little camping stove (this one: amzn.to/35AIVEO) and also bring a little kettle with us. A lot of people like jet boils too!
Hi Joel, you may not have to use hot water, but I am not sure how good any of the backpacking dehydrated meals would taste with colder water. There are lots of great backpacking meal options out there!
@@AdventuresofAplusK I just thought the vid showed you guys in the middle of a hike so I assumed cold water. We are planning a long tip so not having to stop in town as much for meals would be good. We really like your videos!
Ah yes, we used our kettle and mini camping stove to boil water! It’s a bit extra to lug around and we don’t do it often, but we were actually snapping photos for that company that day so we brought them to get photos for them. We usually do them more for actual backpacking!
We did Maligne Canyon Valley in the snow and it was deadly silent with bears mentioned. It was unnerving so I do get it. Never saw another soul. Or a bear. Sort of sad face.
Hi! Are you asking about the trailhead we started at? We started at Lupine Meadows and then split off before Amphitheater Lake. We followed the route on AllTrails
I don't think I've seen a video where you talk about how you make money, so this might not apply. But check out the RV Lifestyle channel for a video they have on their Yellowstone guide. Another channel called Lifestyle Overland talked about making guides too. The first channel is geared more towards an older fan base and the second is geared more towards off road types. But I'd pay for a guide to sort of follow what you two are doing. Where did you stay (gps coordinates), what did you do in the area, what hikes did you take, where did you fill up on supplies, etc. The Lifestyle Overland channel even did a series on a road trip up through Colorado. Joining their patreon even gives you access to the gps of their campsites and for a higher tier you can get the gps trail of everywhere they go. Just a thought if you are brainstorming ideas.
Thank you Bill! And we covered it a bit on our van tour, but I have a full time corporate job that’s 100% remote and Adam has his own web design business. We produce a ton of free guides right now on our website and will have some for the Tetons and Yellowstone very soon! We will be putting info about where we parked on there for any van or RV folks as well!
It was a bit confusing when we googled it, since apparently outside of the US a Buffalo is not what we typically think of when we think of buffalo here. 🤔
Great video, we recently subscribed to your channel, thanks for the info in the video. We also recently started a channel and look at your videos for ideas. Thank you

Love this channel ❤️
❤️💙
The view looking amazing. How many hours in total you spend? And when you visit this?
Hi! We think it was around 5-6 hours, but we forgot to keep track this time. We are pretty fast hikers though. We were there on Labor Day this year!
How long did the hike take to do? Also, what was the total distance you travelled during the hike?
I think it took us 5-6 hours, including the stop at the lake. It was about 9 miles round trip!
@@AdventuresofAplusK great okay! I dont have much experience hiking so I was looking to do this in September with a friend or even other people just visiting too.
It’s not toooo bad! The rocky part is a bit trickier but the maintained part of the trail is great!
The boulder fields weren't as bad as the slick dirt portions with nothing to grab onto!
I liked it until starting back down. Also, the start of the trail is a little bit different now (well, June '21), we actually missed it by 3/4 of a mile and had to turn back LOL
Slick dirt is my least favorite! I hate the feeling of slipping 😬
Nice! That is an awesome hike!
Ever hiked to amphitheater lake? I think that might be the same trail you were on in this video.
How long does it took to complete the trail?
Hi Sophia, we believe it took us about 5-6 hours! We did stop at the lake for a while and we stopped pretty often to film things, so that slowed us down a bit.
Boulder scrambling helps with technical skills! Bright side
I think scrambling is a lot of fun!
How long did it take you to hike to Delta Lake?
We have a guide to spending 3 days in Grand Teton that shares more things to do in the park if you're still planning your trip! adventuresofaplusk.com/3-days-grand-teton-national-park
Thanks and thanks for watching! Hope that helps
I am terrified of Bears as well! 😳 I carry an obnoxious bear bell on my backpack and I have yet to see any. It sure annoys everyone I hike with… but it totally makes me feel better. 😂
Whatever makes you feel better is worth it! They still freak me out, yet we have never seen one on a hike.
Followed some other hikers down, it was a completely different way than I took up....not ever sure how I find the lake on my own 😅😅
That's a fun hike! We were able to do it again a few weeks ago also! Epic!
about how long did your hike take? and what time did you start?
“I help backpackers (like you!) make homemade ultralight recipes and meal plan with ease so you can spend less time, money and effort preparing for your adventures.”
BTW, awesome videos!
What an adventure!!! How long did it take you guys to make it to the lake?
I thiiink it took us 5-6 hours, but I can’t remember 100%!
Where did you guys stay? My husband and I are going to hike Delta Lake this coming August/September!
We stayed in our converted van, but we list some good lodging options (and campsites) on our website that hopefully can help! adventuresofaplusk.com/3-days-grand-teton-national-park/
If you work on a computer for your job,Could you tell me what system you use to get reliable service?
Hi! We use AT&T and Verizon hotspots. We cover how we get internet here: adventuresofaplusk.com/van-life-faqs/#29-van-life-logistics
@@AdventuresofAplusK do you have to heat them up? Any other products maybe a bit cheaper as we are not sensitive to anything.
5:20 thought it was a bear in the background
Hahaha it does look like one! Maybe it was! 😱
Totally fun. You should have made all kinds of bear eating comments to mess with her. You hiked 9 miles get a gallon!!!!
He was equally as nervous, don’t let him fool ya 😜
U people should have 1 mill subs
Haha thank you!
We did Maligne Canyon Valley in the snow and it was deadly silent with bears mentioned. It was unnerving so I do get it.
Never saw another soul. Or a bear. Sort of sad face.
The silence is what gets ya! Puts you a taaaad on edge and extra on the lookout 😬
Hopefully this hasn't been asked and answered too many times. Where did you start from to pass Amphitheater Lake?
Hi! Are you asking about the trailhead we started at? We started at Lupine Meadows and then split off before Amphitheater Lake. We followed the route on AllTrails
@@AdventuresofAplusK Yes, thank you. I watched the video and realized I misunderstood.
YOu are in my area..Welcome :)
are you guys still in town?
We unfortunately aren’t anymore! But we loved it so much!
Adventures of A plus K oh no. I was thinking I could come say hello. May be sometime in future
Yes that would be awesome! We loooove meeting people when we travel!
It’s smart to have a healthy fear of grizzly bears! Bear spray always makes me feel better! Enjoy you guys!
We have yet to see one thankfully, but really glad we have this bear spray to keep us safe!
Yay! My favs!
💕💕💕
Two people have gone missing so far near or on this trail in the last couple years. Never hike in this area alone. Carry bear mace. Stay very aware.
No tacos ? Some day I’ll visit this lake when I’ll go mainland
Hahah no tacos today! Harder to find tacos in some parts of the US 😉
I don't think I've seen a video where you talk about how you make money, so this might not apply.
Go to Yellowstone lots of bisons
Oh yes, tons of them! Those videos will be up very soon! 😄
Buffalo and bison are just two names for the same animal, either is correct.
It was a bit confusing when we googled it, since apparently outside of the US a Buffalo is not what we typically think of when we think of buffalo here. 🤔
Great video, we recently subscribed to your channel, thanks for the info in the video. We also recently started a channel and look at your videos for ideas. Thank you
Congrats on your channel!
keep the bears in mind but don't let it ruin your hike. bring your bear spray and a pistol (just in case)
Teton is beautiful 😍 ngl was hoping u would run into a bear so I could see another bear encounter on TH-cam 😁😁❤️🐻❤️
Hahaha we are half sad and half glad we didn't!
funny that i've lived in canada for my whole life and have never even seen a moose in real life yet almost like the animals are trying to prove that canada is not made of moose and hockey (but honestly i love hockey)
Hahahah we know that feeling! We have actually seen more bald eagles in Canada than in the US, even though it’s our national bird.
Adventures of A plus K 😂 nice
I went to grand Teton I saw a grizzly bear
How cool!
In the last 30 years there have been 6 non-fatal bear attacks in the Tetons. I'd be more scared of the moose.
We have had multiple encounters with them and they are scary!
@ for sure especially if there’s cubs
🖒🖒🙌🙌
🤩🤩🤩
Are you allowed to carry a gun with you while hiking?
I believe if you legally own a firearm you can have them in certain areas of the park.
