It doesnt matter how many hours you have spend learning something. There is always different ways to make things and it is extreamly hard to start improving something that you already think is "perfect way" to do it, until you see someone does it differently. Same thing IRL. When we get new trainees i never try to push them doing things my way, i tell them what results i want and see how they do it. Then i show them how i used to do it and if there was something they did what im going to take in use. You know it is nothing major, but lil improvements to make things safer/faster/simpler.
My brain during the ad before the video: Hello and welcome back to mars, I'm Mick and we're playing stationeers" Wasn't disappointed but excited for the new series 😊
@@truezulu Jeah, maybe "best" wasn't the best choice of word here ... exciting maybe ? .. I refer to the time pressure fulfilling basic needs like power and oxygen.. When you have your potatoes in a safe environment, you can pretty much relax ;)
@@cowsareevil7514 Ah, IC .. last I tried the P&N mod wouldn't run under Linux.. With P&N there is not such a rush to get a room with atmosphere.. kind of relaxes the gameplay quite a bit.. but with or without it I still think the "rush phase" is kind of the most exciting ;) Of course giant fully automated bases are cool too.. gives you more time to torture plush kitties ;P
I like the idea of the brutal start, but I found that after the first few frantic hours it just turns into a normal game once you have the basics set up.
Yeah, that's the problem with any hard start in a game... it adds a lot of fun at first, but then you're over the starting phase, and... :D I still love it, mind. It would be nice if it was also followed with more complexities, though :P
@@cowsareevil7514 I love plants and nutrition honestly. I'd also be interested in seeing a 'random failures' mod where there is a low chance that some piece of machinery breaks over time, though that could get annoying too.
Well, in my brutal stationeer playthrough I'm not using P&N, but challenging myself to use plant produced oxygen for my water production. And no traders as well. This is good practice for vulcan and Venus. From another youtuber doing Vulcan, it looks like if you do things perfectly you can do a brutal playthrough even without traders and just get all your o2 from potatoes. But man, it's a minimalist AF setup.
Rather than continually feeding your Portable Generator, you may want to consider the H2 Combustor and a Stirling Engine (for all I know this was your plan all along :P). Once you can print an IC chip you can set the H2 Combustor to run in bursts when the input pressure is really high, making it very power efficient. Anyway, keep up the good work :)
Mick, do you dislike your sanity? Brutal start and plants-nutrition mod! This will be an interesting set of episodes. 😅 If you are using oxygen ice as a breathing gas, don't you need an N2 filter in your suit? I am wondering, will you make water (Like for the hot planes) or go the easy way and use ice?
If I remember correctly, coal had its distribution settings changed to mirror nickle on Mimas and Vulkan, So its not really rare but you probably wont want to use it as a primary fuel source early.
@cowsareevil7514 are you intereseted in doing a Bare bones run with no ices nor coal? I think having to deal with degassing earlygame would be interesting.
"Bare bones" is still not the absolute bare minimum, so it could be worse. Although there are 2 versions of bare minimum: furnace or trader. If you combine either one with a no ice and no coal world, and have to make steel from deacyed food (furnace start), you're in for a rough time. You basically need to breathe oxygen from gold ore and mine cobalt for volatiles. Doable, but not fun.
I don't quite understand how did you manage to get to the end of the video with 84% food meter and 62% water.... I normally have to rush the box to fill with oxygen just to drink/eat before anything. Puzzled. 🤔
@@cowsareevil7514 but "More IC Commands" hasnt been updated in 2 years sadly, would love to be able to loop thru the devices one by one, may someone should tell jixxed to include these commands inside his chip mod
I have over 1k hours in this game and I still come back to your videos to learn something :)
3k hours and I am still learning new things. As this is my first cold planet with phase change, I had better learn quick.

I'm excited to see your adventures again Mick!
w00t! Thanks for explaining it all in your tutorials Cows are evil!
It's quite a complicated game :)
Yes new series!!!
Been looking forwards to this series. Favorite start and planet
Well this was a short wait for the new series.
I’ve never seen this planet so this should be interesting. Thankyou Mick.
@@JSRJSWhoops. Sorry ‘bout that.

Bless you Mick for playing this so I don't have to!! :D
I really enjoy watching you play. I've learned quite a few little nuances to MIPS due to you.
Delighted to see a new series in a new place!
Good Job ! ... first couple hours are the best IMO :) Thanks for the Video !
Naah, huge complicated base with lots of intricate coding is the BEST! ;)

With the plants and nutrition mod, you cant relax until about 3 weeks when you have enough plants. More time for a critical mistake.

woooooot, a new series allready!!. EPIC
mick finding gold within the first minutes of a new playthrough??? ouuuu it goin to be a good one :D
Even more shocking is he found Coal already :O
I found all I needed quick, that doesn't happen often.
The GOAT with a new series!

Add the "plants and nutrition" mod, that will extend the panic to about 3 weeks.

@@JSRJS It's all fun and games until a meter strikes your base, causing you to lose all your air and killing your plants.

Atmosphere re-entry in a planet that has no atmosphere hahahahahha dammmm that one!

I need a pressurised room for the stirling, so that will have to wait. The GFG might be the first upgrade.
YES, been looking forward to this! :)

I will need N2 filters. Remembering to change them is the trick.
yesss. great start. very efficient.
Awesome.... another series.
I wondered if you'd be trying this, nice first episode
I love your humor!

I havent seen any water though. That must be very rare.
Sooooo cool. Love it!
You lost a pipe when you made the first batch, would not be surprised if you find it in a hole later.
9:04 Its like someone flipped a light switch, haha
Any reason you can’t use the nitrice with volatiles in the furnace? Make use of the N2O content of the ice for more heat?
Nitrice is only 10% NOS. I think you have to filter it get any real benefit.
@cowsareevil7514 are you intereseted in doing a Bare bones run with no ices nor coal? I think having to deal with degassing earlygame would be interesting.
Hiya Mick! Wasn't expecting a new series - Thanks sooo much!
What're your win conditions for this playthrough?
Just to get to survival for this one. And figure out some cold weather setups that wont freeze the pipes.
Here I am, watching this playthru again because there hasn't been any new content in a while :(
I think for the sake of "realism" they should rename coal as hydrocarbon.
Doesn't make any more sense but it sounds cooler and more plausible.
"Bare bones" is still not the absolute bare minimum, so it could be worse.

Hi, i think you now should be able to connect the cables without breaking the production ...
I will give it a go and see.
Weren't the devs saying they were redoing the terrain/voxel system? I heard it talked about but don't know if it's in yet. It 'looks' the same.
Yes...here it is!!
I'll be honest, never even considered putting the battery charger *before* the APC!
I don't quite understand how did you manage to get to the end of the video with 84% food meter and 62% water.... I normally have to rush the box to fill with oxygen just to drink/eat before anything. Puzzled. 🤔
You should have called the game "Minmus Brutus"
I will have to learn more of the Latin names for the metals then.
Replace the "More IC Commands" mod with the "Chipmod" and the "programmable signs mod", i also kinda wanna see them in your playthru haha
Their integration into the game is a little clunky, but they look good.

Psst, playlist is in "wrong order" for auto play.
Thank you for the conmtemts doe.
New series so soon! Yey
Coal is from plantmatter and not dino's..
That still doesn't explain how it got to Mimus.
woohoo!
the playlist is backwards... i almost watched ep4 first
OH MY GOD ITS NOT MINMAS
genuienly been calling it that since launch
Yesirrrrr
Woohoo
you start with a furnace its on the moon close where your pod is
LOL, it looks like one.
