If you want to flatten the salaries in a multi-year contract, then offer $550k as the salary, and then give the remaining money as a bonus. This structure will not always work, but if it does, you will not have jumps from year to year in a particular player's salary. This trick will also help you get guys cheaper in the long run. You can get players who ask for $40 mil for $30 mil instead and save $10 mil to spend elsewhere. Test it out and see.

Also did the math say the cap goes up to 250m at 53 players per roster that’s 4.71m per player per year. Save where you can. I usually have a roster composed of about 40 players on multi year bulkier deals, then have the next 13 being cap steals. I never have a cap problem. Well I haven’t since I started playing realistic like 7-8 years ago. I used to get booted from my own franchise for screwing the cap

For ideal management I like to have staggered deals, meaning say at lolb I like to have my backup come up for negotiations in a different year than the starter for all players. I usually don’t sign 1 year contracts unless they’re udfa and going to be a practice squad player then they usually get the extra year because they sat on the practice squad. If it’s a guy that I don’t see myself dedicating atleast 2 years to I won’t sign them

Also helps keep the roster fresh, staggering deals helps you make a decision on who will be the future or if you want to start from scratch on that position but not fully still have a depth guy and bring in a new guy

How in the world do you manage to sign players to short term contracts? It seems I can never manage to get them to sign for anything less than that fair value’s amount of years even if I overpay

Sometimes letting them walk to free agency, mainly for older players, will allow you to get them on either shorter or cheaper contracts. With young guys, it’s often about the long-term security for them, so it’s difficult to sign them for shorter. However, if everyone is asking for a 4 or 5 year deal, extend a couple to 6 or 7 to achieve staggering. Going longer is definitely an option

Can you make a video on how to matchup your d-line to create more pressure on the QB, please?

Jacob I have a question for you so let say you draft rookies and you get two or three out them really good until the point were you have to sign them for contracts do you separate the years between rookies were you have the flexibility to sign them and how would you k ow how much they are asking for until you put a good number they want. I see a lot of video were I see people google how much the players for that position make and giving them that is that a good idea

Usually players will ask for a bit less money in Madden than they ask for in real life. If you’re trying to help your cap situation, I wouldn’t google amounts and pay them based on that. I would recommend that if you’re aiming for realism though. It’ll be more of a challenge. Secondly, yes I do separate rookies from the same class. For example, if I drafted two really good rookies I might sign one to a 5 year extension and the other to 3 or 4 year extension. It’s not always ideal, but it can help to stagger their contracts and give your team more flexibility!

I just like to extend the players contracts when they’re on their final year of their contract
