Iconography: 5/5 - lightsabers, robes, all that stuff Sound: 5/5 - pew pew pew, vrrrr, the only thing it doesn't have is talking which is the least important part of Star Wars Fashion: 5/5 - direct from the games, with the added bonus of Lego hairdos looking really 70s already Locations: 5/5 - everything is bottomless pits, except for the things which are apex predators Good: 5/5 - good
Ive never played the games but i did watch a lego version of the prequels once and that was one of the best things I've ever seen so i have no doubt you're right
This was legitimately funny. Video had great pacing jokes all landed for me and the observations on the starwars universe were wise and incisive to boot! 10/10 Uncle Approved.
I had never thought of the fashion of Star Wars being important until today, but now that you mention it, I think it's one of the reasons why I've never been fully sold on the Sequels. It's been hard to put my finger on how the dress and style is too "modern" when all three trilogies exist in...the future. They've got the lether, the buckles, the weird tunic things. But yeah, there's just not enough 1970s in the Sequels.
Totally unrelated but this is my favorite plotagon background because the color scheme works so well with the time slider bar for youtube. Such aesthetic
honestly patrick is my favorite out of the polygon staff, the reason i subscribed was because of the darksouls video where he climbed a ladder and it was that dark souls new area sound
As someone who GMs Star Wars TTRPGs, all 5 of these priorities are 100% in my design when I design an adventure. Best believe my wookie dresses like he's dtf after going to studio54, once he gets past a metal-smashing compactor that is in the hangar bay while tie fighters go by eeeeEEERRRREEEEEREEEEEERR
what a joyful video. i kept rewinding parts of it so i could watch it again. i do wanna say tho that usually polygon videos have great captions but this one was a little wonky in parts..!!
Being a Star Wars video game boy from the yester-year of 1995 (a scant 3 years after my birth), from what we've seen so far, Fallen Order looks like it MIGHT be a pretty great Star Wars game. I agree that they haven't honestly nailed the costume/character aesthetic, but assuming the gameplay is fun/addictive (it's a character action RPG so yes, obviously), this game's release might just be an Epic Gamer Moment.
A good video is one like this where you can enjoy even if you know nothing about the subject. I have never played any star wars movie and I was entertained.
i dont know anything abt the starred wars but i clicked bc i knew pat would be in it and then was surprised by a wild clayton! sorry about the chest cavity dude
as a weird 16 year old with an unhealthy beatles obsession, i really appreciated your traveling wilburys reference. but you know handle with care was actually quite nice
To be fair, Kal's 'fashion' is exactly right according to your own stated rules on this. This is a time where you can't just walk around with flowy robes and not scream to Imperials "I'm a refugee Jedi!" He wears a mishmash of somewhat durable but ultimately non-conspicuous clothing and cloak because, he is lost. To survive you have to turn away from the outward expression that would get you killed, and this would also speak to internal conflict and muddled introspection. Assuming EA didn't make him Godmode Jedi Paragon Man... Of Vitrtue.
This is a script Patrick wrote on a Saturday at home, laughing to himself at every silly joke, came in on Monday, disappeared during that strange surprise fire drill, recorded this in Brian's secret room, then edited it at home the rest of the week, only to surprise upload it to Polygon's TH-cam channel while everyone went out to lunch. Thank you Patrick.
as a big star wars and george harrison fan i have never smiled and laughed harder than when he brought up the traveling wilburys, thank u patrick gill but also you're coming for my brand so please step back
6:20 actually some of your complaints about outfits are intentional. You can't get a good read on Cal because he doesn't know what he is. The trenchcoat evokes a Jedi's robe, but he can't actually appear to be a Jedi. But he's not a wily rogue either. And the villains look like knock-off Sith, because that's what they are. The Inquisitors are Palpatine's "totally not sith because that would be breaking the rule of two" minions. And the Purge Troopers are even less intimidating, because they're knock offs of that! Cal's hairstyle is a bit too cool though.
I should have played KOTOR on xbox when it came out so I could ACTUALLY appreciate it like the rest of you. I mean, my friends had it... but dang playing it ten years late didn't help my experience with it
Basically found this channel because of BDG and am slowly acclimating to everyone else. This guy isn't bad. Obviously knows more about games than BDG. So thats a plus.
"Does your uncle work at Star Wars?" is the single greatest question ever asked.
It's totally an "uncle who works at Nintendo" reference
So in the end Lego Star Wars the complete saga is the best SW game of all time
thank you for coming to my TED talk
They cheated. They just made Star Wars but with Legos. Of course it's perfect.
You are correct.
we know

This has some all-time 'Pat smiling before he tells the joke' moments. Truly outstanding work.
a grumbler
he reminds me so much of Bill Hader
Instablaster.
I demand a video that's nothing but Patrick trying to imitate starwars noise & sound effects
Patrick, the foley artist. Make it so.
YES
Counterproposal: Any Star Wars trilogy but the noises are Pat
Edit: Never mix up counterpoint and counterproposal.
I'll have you know my uncle is the president of star wars and will ban your account for hacking
Luis Gonzalez nononononono pleeeaaasse. It’s my first PC...
great video about the star war guys! also love the brian cameo at 2:44!!!
This comment was so powerful it burned my eyebrows off
@@aliteralgoblin8761 it burned the eyebrows off the guy in the video too
BDG is a Star War
This was legitimately funny.
Video had great pacing
jokes all landed for me
and the observations on the starwars universe were wise and incisive to boot!
10/10 Uncle Approved.
thanks uncle
This whole video was just an excuse for Pat to flex his sound effect chops
jujyberry completely here for the tie fighter sound
enjoyed this video a lot. pat cracking up at his own terrible joke was delightful
That was a serviceable TIE fighter impression.
"We don't know, we haven't played it. Does your uncle work at Star Wars?" May be the funniest way to end a video that there is
I want this joke to win some sort of award. Im just glad everyone appreciated it as much as they should
"does your uncle work at starwars?" Pat is wonderful!!
Pat and Brian are practically running this channel.
we're not complaining--
Well, now that the Mcelroy's are gone they ARE their predecessors haha
@@FallFluff successors

what about claytons killer editing??
I have never thought of Star Wars within the context of: "Does the setting make sense?"
I have a new appreciation of Star Wars now.
6:03
Pat saying “from a lil spaceship” was the cutest thing I’ve ever heard.
Come for the Star Wars, stay for the Traveling Wilburys reference!
In space, no-one can hear you shout "VIOLATION!"
Pat making the TIE fighter scream at 1:05 will never fail to make me smile.
Pats general joy at how the locations make no sense made my whole week.

I FUCKEN FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS VIDEO BAYYYYBEEEEEEEE
THANK YOU POLYGON FOR THIS BLESSED RETURN
'the travelling wilburys of the star wars games' is the absolute best comparison i have ever heard. pat, dude, have my eternal admiration
how to make a good star wars game:
1. rerelease kinect star wars
2.
thanks, i’ll be sure to apply this to the new lego starwars when it comes out, because of course that is the only starwars game that matters at all!
Totally unrelated but this is my favorite plotagon background because the color scheme works so well with the time slider bar for youtube. Such aesthetic
Quirky editing, on point content, likeable host, and disco music. SUBSCRIBED!!!
I love that Clayton actually mouths “pew pew pew” while the sound effects play. It’s such a great little detail
mom says it's MY TURN on the star wars!!
“The Platonic Ideal of a good Star Wars game” lmao yes bring philosophy into this please
I have the feeling this video was a blast to shoot, and hope more behind the scenes content in the future either confirms or denies this notion
good evening and welcome to today's episode of "I Would Die for Pat Gill"
THE EDITING IN THIS VIDEO IS ABSOLUTELY TOP TIER AND IM STILL VERY NOT OVER HOW GOOD IT IS
Patrick Gill!!! You need to do more videos! I love this.
this is content made for my specific interests and i'm forever grateful
5:41 Wow Pat really did it to ‘em.
Thanks for giving my man Ben Burtt his due esteem.
"and that Lando Calrissian fucks!" -- That line got me xD
I love love love these Pat as America's Wisest Gamer videos! It should be a regular series really.
this is still probably my favorite polygon video ever
imo the most essential ingredient to a star wars game is a colorful cast of co-protagonists that accompany your hero on their journey.
Pat's TIE Fighter sound effect may just be the funniest thing I've ever seen, holy shit.
honestly patrick is my favorite out of the polygon staff, the reason i subscribed was because of the darksouls video where he climbed a ladder and it was that dark souls new area sound
TRAVELING WILBURYS! thank you, Pat
As someone who GMs Star Wars TTRPGs, all 5 of these priorities are 100% in my design when I design an adventure. was not expecting a travelling wilburys reference in this particular space
This may be my favorite Polygon video of all time.
what a joyful video. i kept rewinding parts of it so i could watch it again.
i do wanna say tho that usually polygon videos have great captions but this one was a little wonky in parts..!!
I played way too much of Super Bombad racing, so I was actually looking forward to hearing Pat talk about it.
I have a friend who worked on this game. I sent him the video and he laughed.
A+ Travelling Wilburys joke Pat - I too am an old man at heart. But also those Wookie noises had me snorting water out of my nose.

this is the platonic ideal of a video about star wars video games
2:45 is so pure
The music in kotor makes me so happy
"Star Wars is all about shockingly impractical architecture."
what have you done to my mind
MAN that Death MTN shirt is freaking sweet.
A good video is one like this where you can enjoy even if you know nothing about the subject. I have never played any star wars movie and I was entertained.
i dont know anything abt the starred wars but i clicked bc i knew pat would be in it and then was surprised by a wild clayton! sorry about the chest cavity dude
I love the Starkiller character, I think he looks way more bad ass than the Nerd in Fallen Order but the game does look good.
Moar of Clayton and Pat lightsabering each other for star wars time please
Now THIS is what I call a Star War!
i had no idea u cared this much about star wars, pat. your face doing the tie fighter noise is my favorite thing
omg that tie fighter
as a weird 16 year old with an unhealthy beatles obsession, i really appreciated your traveling wilburys reference. but you know handle with care was actually quite nice
Pat and Clayton excitedly talking about Star Wars is the best
Pat Gil: *laughs at his own joke and tucks his hair*
Me, out loud, every single time: "Pat Gill marry me challenge"
i was scared you werent going to mention jedi outcast but then you did, good shit

I was just about to look up what the travelling wilburies were and then mister man explained it. Thank yoj
I got that Traveling Wilburys reference.
Can we have a 2 hours long video with patrick doing star wars noises?
Patrick's wookie impression made my night
knights of the old republic ii is the best star wars game. i will fight anyone over this
ik im 10 months late but yes i agree it improves upon the original in literally every way, its an absolute masterwork
i fucking choked at the lando comment, goodjob
1:06
I'm late, but you forgot to mention the exhaust fans in the middle of hallways
I’m struggling to come up with a comment for how much I like this video. It’s perfect.
CLAYTON!!!

can we get a whole video of just pat making star wars noises
i love the traveling wilburys!!
Ok, that wookie impression honestly sounded more like Yoda in the middle of a painfully average orgasm. It still sounded better than Chewie, though.
I should have played KOTOR on xbox when it came out so I could ACTUALLY appreciate it like the rest of you. I mean, my friends had it... but dang playing it ten years late didn't help my experience with it
I love that the fifth qualification for whether a Star Wars game is good is whether it’s good
This is,,,,,,, phenomenal.
I think I convulsed at hot absolutely precious the metal baby is.
I halfway want to get the game just so I can protect its sweet little (giant) head
Basically found this channel because of BDG and am slowly acclimating to everyone else. This guy isn't bad. Obviously knows more about games than BDG. So thats a plus.
0:38 It's not *ahem* IIIIIIIICONIC!
I just want to be a bad bad zappy boy
1:06 Yaaaaaaaasssssssss
KEEP POLYGON WEIRD 💗
Can't believe you 'cut' Clayton off when he was about to discuss the best Star Wars game ever made, KOTOR 2
"Does your uncle work at Star Wars?" Classic. 😂
You almost slew me with the whole ''If the setting feels real, believable or lived in...IT DOES NOT BELONG IN STARWARS'' bit.
"Does this your uncle work at Star Wars?" 😂
I find the lack of Lego Star Wars disappointing
